The most beautifulest thing I ever saw.. Iverson balling in 11s. I watched this dude feverishly at Georgetown... When I seen him hop step and throw it on 2 Bigs.. I knew his heart was as big as his game. 💯Salute A.I.
Most electrifying 2yr stretch in Georgetown history! From his first game vs Arkansas til his last one vs Umass, A.I. was must see TV. Salute to Big John for letting him do his thing
@Bo Stephens I was living in Houston when Othella was playing there. He was great. Georgetown has had some incredible players over the years. Too many to count.
Arguably the most athletic NBA player of all-time. He wasn't blessed with the size of Jordan, given his size against bigger competition.. it's crazy how impactful AI was.
Yea, But AI lost his Amazing leaping ability at an extremely young age because he refused to condition his body. Had he done that IMO he would've been 10X better... But around 24 or 25 his a HOPS were pretty much gone.
That ok made he wasnt blessed with Jordan size Jordan wasnt blessed with ai speed AI made jordan knees buckle lol after that Jordan realize he needed to retire lol
You couldn’t guard him without fouling. Unlimited stamina and athletic ability . I think Iverson, Jordan, and Rodman had the most stamina of all nba players
@@dopemoney23: He's 6 feet tall 160 pounds. Kobe is 6-7 inches taller at 220 pounds. Even if AI has stronger work ethic, I think he's probably maxed out. Now if he was a little bit taller, he'd be scary.
I remember AI sharing a story about having dinner with Kobe once in LA. When they parted ways AI said he was going to the club, & Kobe said he was hitting the gym. He could’ve took “practice” (lol) a little more serious. But still he’s the best player 6 feet or under in nba history imo
A.I, Victor Page, Othella Harrington, Jerome Williams. Man when I first saw A.I play I was hooked. Watched dude thru G-Town and the NBA. Dude was definitely ‘The Answer’...
Helleva time in college basketball.. A.I, Camby, Ray Allen, Kerry Kittles, John Wallace, Marbury, Antoine Walker, Victor Page , Tony Delk ... str8 ballers ... U see Iverson with the fresh patent leather J’s ...RIP to Coach Thompson
As great as he was for the Sixers, I feel like prime Iverson was the college years and first couple of years pro in terms of explosive plays, unparalleled athletic ability, and non-stop motor/energy/hustle.
He had to play like that! He was wearing the shoes of a man he looked up to greatly. Allen Iverson is the GREATEST point guard EVER! And I say that with no hesitation. And there have been great point guards to go through the ncaa, and nba. My honorable mentions are Kevin Johnson, and Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf.
I feel like Iverson should have stayed at PG. Yes he was a natural scorer and amazing at it. I just feel like he was at a disadvantage guarding guys that are 6'5, 6'6 or 6'7 when he's only 6 ft. He lead the league in steals 3 times. If he was guarding guys his size that would have doubled. Then on the offensive end. It's kind of hard to get a clean look at the basked when guys that are once again 6'5, 6'6 and 6'7 have their long hands over you. Which is why his FG percentage was so low.
@J 2 I don't know where you guys are getting your information but A.I many and most times has guarded the other teams SG. He guarded Kobe in the finals. There's a video on TH-cam with him and Sprewell going back and forth guarding each other when the Sixers played the Knicks.
@Rama Lurio But he did. Did you guys even watch basketball back then. Like X-Man just stated he remembers him guarding Reggie Miller and Reggie killing him in the post.
Lopez I agree with you I wanted him to stay a guard also but AI was so fearless he ran jerry stackhouse out of Philly and then assumed the sg role but even being undersized he still did his thing against taller competition!
X Man You not Correct.... Reggies wasn’t No post up Player. You did better saying Mark Jackson. Who was known to back down opposing Guards which was the cause to the 5 sec back to the basket rule (Along with Barkley)
Guys like Iverson, Thomas, Stockton, Nash, Archibald + Manigault proved that you don't need to be tall and big to dominate. You can dominate with skill and talent.
Personally I think with the impact he had on the game, on and off the floor culturally, he's top 10 all time. Period. Kobe too. They're in mine anyway.
Nothin beats tha story bout how his mother sacrificed tha lights so he could have those shoes for these moments if you from tha jets you know exactly how he felt nd why Ms.Ann got everything she ever wanted nd more a mother’s love is unmatched miss watchin her braid his hair during tv timeouts too that’s that real love!
I lived on the same dorm and floor at UMass with Marcus Camby. We use to talk a lot and I remember him telling us there is this player that gets into everyone’s head in basketball. It was none other than AI.
@arronnov LOLOLOLOL. He's bigger, but AI is hands down the fastest dude in NBA history and it's not even close. He also played in a WAY more physical era. Again, you have *NO IDEA* of what you're talking about.
Georgetown University will forever use Iverson as a recruiting tool. Once out of their system, he would have to pay for alumni services, if he stayed or went back to graduate. Everyone got what they wanted.
Yeah Camby was the 2nd big man that year behind Duncan. Then they had those 2 Latinos in the backcourt in Carmelo Traviso and Edgar Padilla. They sure had a squad.
iverson was the quickest and most unstoppable player in college basketball umass was the reason i think gtown didnt get to the final 4..besides camby and the other forward they had umass 2 guards that were very good padilla and treveiso i remember them they were very good..

I’m wearing the Easter emerald 11s right now and when I seen AI wearing the 11s it made me smile big af

Coach Thompson loved Allen more than anyone.. Allen was his heart.
Allen was devastated when Coach passed away.
@@theunthinkable1021 because John Thompson saved his life by recruiting him after he went to jail.
Iverson was DOMINANT in college and the NBA!
The most amazing thing was that he really had to make near to zero adjustments in order to play in the NBA. This was his game. And it worked.
Arguably the most athletic NBA player of all-time. He wasn't blessed with the size of Jordan, given his size against bigger competition.. it's crazy how impactful AI was.
The handle was amazing. He had the best ball control we had ever seen, his speed was also impressive.
They all agree; super quick

Pure talent, heart and skill
The angles that he takes on those layups are unreal.
Well he's an Eastern conference champion which is the second biggest thing in NBA... To me that's a great accomplishment!
Big Iverson fan!
