The 1996 draft was amazing. Back then the draft was a huge event because there were college all star players who you knew for years, and who could instantly help a struggling team. Nowadays the draft is a crapshoot of players you've never heard of that you look back at 10 years later to determine if it was good.

Yup. Those of us who grew up in the 90's were lucky. I remember the NBA draft was a prime time event like the NFL draft. The college players were all well-known because they usually played at least 3 years, so every team got a first round pick who was ready to play on day one. There was so much buzz and excitement around the draft in those days. The drafts from 93-99 were all full of solid collections of all star players. Great memories.

Growing up I always wondered why college players play too fast while the pros seem to take their time and slow down....I hated watching all college basketball because the guys just run and jump without substance in their game(s)....Back around this time Iverson had the best high-lights and game individually while you had UNC with the best team from like 1993-1995 and Syracuse did a great job going to the Final 4 and Arkansas fell off after '95; I always felt Georgetown had a shot but Iverson was always great in college; you couldn't miss one of his games it was spectacular.
