Currently a pilot in flight training, been doing this hobby for 12 years but this airmanship gained my UTTER respect. You have just earned a sub, a fan and a member. All the best and please keep this spirit up 🤩
They say that you must first become highly skilled in your craft before you can ever become a respectable clown in that same field. Impressively, you have most definitely achieved both. Yours is a very unique channel! I for one will always be watching. 👍👍
C-47 was a really weird choice for them to make when this was already available (along with the Duckworks), imo. Did some flying like this down the other end of PNG in the Caribou a while back, was wild.
Thanks so much for making this flight! I have been to and love flying in PNG and along the Kokota Track from Port Moresby over the mountains. Been thinking about taking the DC-3 there and now I know I can! I love the Commando too and I am looking for developers to MOD it up to correct what needs correcting. ❤👍
Okay, now you've qualified to smuggle drugs out of remote Colombian airstrips. We had a uphill airstrip on the side of a mountain in Alaska where you went full power on touchdown to make it to the top of the strip. Departure was like skiing downhill. There is a switch on the upper left hand panel to silence the gear warning horn.
DC-3 is underrated as a Bushbird, Takes a bit more planning for your landings but she's remarkably capable. Always fun to bust her out during a group flight and try to hit the bush strips with the Wilgas and xcubs.
Your middle name is not "Stupid", your middle name is "Party Time" ... lol Or, if it weren't so long, "Chase The Sow Through The Village" ... hahahahaha !!! Keep it up, I'm lovin' it...!!! And- this was some very impressive flying!
Do you have a tutorial on your channel on how to fly this beast? Numbers, procedures? Or does anyone know of a good tutorial? You got one of the most interesting sim channels. Great flying.
Ooooh, there's a Dakota near me (the military version of the DC-3) at Yorkshire Air Museum. I have walked around in its interior, and watched it do engine runs. They are a cool plane that is very reliable, with a lot of character. I know a lot of DC-3s carried on operating in various parts of the world until quite recently. A lot of real pilots have done some thoroughly inappropriate things in them.
I’m using a flight yoke and can’t. Figure out why when I get half way on the yoke turning left or right , in game the yoke accelerates to max even though I’m only half turned. Is that a game setting issue or a Logitech app set up issue?
And you're flying out of Dinangat, such a hard place to get out of. I sim flight PNG a lot. Might as well go for it all and land at Yifki Yifki. It's like landing in a cereal bowl, it's not landing that is hard, it's if you miss the go around is a bear if you're trying to stay in it rather than fly out of it, at least it's a bear for me. But I love these mountain airstrips. I fly the Kodiak 100 or the Caravan in PNG because I watch Missionary Bush Pilot for years and started doing the same flights he did each week. After a while I had logged almost 100 airstrips there, mental notes like whether it's a 1-way ii and out, strip composition, altitudes, preferred runways ect. The most amazing place to fly, and I love when you fly there too. The hard part is locating the strip. Too many times I found myself saying, "Certainly that can't be it". I think I've had better landings on mountain airstrips than I have on conventional airstrips. Perhaps their wonky airstrip matches my wonky flying style.
I can tell you my Uncles fought in WW2 in Papua New Guinea and the stories they brought back about "The Gooney Bird" otherwise known as the C47. They landed as you did at the first strip but fully loaded with ammunition and supplies. The pilots were formally dressed in tropical boots khaki tropical shorts and a lifejacket ( the aircon in the C47 wasnt the best lol). On the ground they would empty all the supplies then load all the injured soldiers and Fuzzy Wuzzys (local tribesmen who helped) and in the tradition of no man left behind they were only grossly overloaded. The technique they used was much like yours go like hell and throw yourself off the end on the strip and hope you have airspeed before you hit the ground. Many of the Anzac soldiers owe their lives to the idiot airmen flying the Gooney Bird. They all said the only thing a Gooney pilot was missing was enough brains to be scared lol.
Aa, when you going to sponser a FAN FLIGHT? We all need to be stupid in PNG. Remember, stupid is what stupid does! hehe. Say, youre good at the DC3, careful, Buffalo Airlines might be calling you.
@@AvAngel :D I just figured that out! I've never flown it and never even paid attention to it in the hangar menu! Thanks for the tip on the Duckworth pack though...
This video of yours reminded me sooooo much of what my uncles who were in PNG told me I had to do a bit of research and I found this video. I know you are a military history buff so I hope you are as impressed as I was. If you do research online into the Gooney Bird you will find the DC3 very prevalent in the results. The true reason it was nicknamed the Gooney Bird was that the real life Gooney Bird crashes on most landings. Anyway I hope you enjoy this as this video constructed of mainly live footage from the time is the best I have seen. Thanks for the great video's and keep up the good work. P. S. I am 69years of age which will explain the timeline. th-cam.com/video/o8fS5zLoOX0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=c0HM1WZPlPyEf5W1
Zero-viz flying in PNG makes me think of the old Far Side cartoon: "Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the clouds?"
"... at least the body parts will remain in the cockpit vaguely when we crash..." You had my eyes glued to the screen after you said that.
Yeah, that was the moment I decided to sub to the channel :)

👍👍
Thanks! I think? :D
'Your hired!' -Pablo E. 😂
I really enjoyed watching you twisting, turning and sweating in the cockpit seat for these very exciting landings. Good show, AvAngel!!
Yesssss!!! ❤ FANTASTIC video! I absolutely enjoyed this one. 😂
"C'mon stop, please stop!" 🤣😅
Love your channel so much, really enjoyed your DC3 tootles!
Great flying, your approaches were spot on, makes a difference when you know you’re aircraft as well as you do
I think that might bring back some memories for some ex-RAAF WW2 Dakota pilots, if there are any still with us..
C-47 was a really weird choice for them to make when this was already available (along with the Duckworks), imo. Did some flying like this down the other end of PNG in the Caribou a while back, was wild.
Well they made it because anniversary of D-Day, they'd likely done it at the same time as the DC3 but saved the release.
You: "We're about to do something stupid..."
Me: Buckled up baby let's go...!!!
Just as I always say, everything's a bush plane if you're brave enough. Even I wouldn't have tried that in a DC3 tho, you're very brave xD
In my defence, I know the Dak well.
Wow! That was a lot of fun! I'd like to try that in the Commando! …not really.
You, my friend, are a crazy person. Which guarantees I'll be back for more of these videos.
:D It's my specialty.

Great fun flying with you on your adventures - You would have made any WASP envious.
Nice bit of flying for sure👍 thanks for the fun🤩

really nice, hope we get more of these videos, everyone's a liner these days...
A scandalously inappropriate (and totally awesome) piece of aviating! Thanks for the PNG vistas and the entertaining commentary. 🙂
Nice flying! It's always fun to see what's plausible, if not exactly responsible.
Demure🙄 oh god I cannot believe you threw that word in there 🤣
XD
As Promised really. Inappropriate but amazing 😂
Love that PNG sceanry, nit flown much there is it stock or downloaded?

Landing where you shouldn´t is the best part of any flight game
Your judgment may be questionable, but your flying is superb.
If inflammable can mean the same as flammable, then I'd wager this is quite proper aviation, achually. Thsnkd for the chuckles :)
Thanks for a fun vid, Im inspired to fire up the sim and visit PNG again

Or, if it weren't so long, "Chase The Sow Through The Village" ... hahahahaha !!!

My flying isn't so coordinated. Therefore my passengers seldom muscially serenade on landings.
*sad caribou noises*
Better Caribou :D

perfect investment for my southern pacific flour mill delivery operation
Flour… sure

Still flying commercially!
cool deal! gotta love the DC-3
Now you need to try it with the FW-200!
good job :-) I like to follow :-D and so funny. My first name should be More and middle Crazy.

If you need inspiration for crazy flying read the book "Air America" by Christopher Robins 😋
:D
"...but will it bush?" AvAngel (in another video)
Apparently, the DC-3 will.
Yes sir she will!
Utterly inappropriate aviation: YES PLEASE!!!!! 😁

Maybe it wasn't Yifki, maybe it was Yembi Yembi I'm thinking of, I think Yifki is just one name. Been awhile, I guess I better get going!
Very entertaining!
03:20 and for Kodiaks (Like Ryans :) )
Pause-and-Cigarette is a thing. Phew, I need one…
Hehe

awesome!
You can actually ear the flight commands cracks in the hand of Av during the (very stressful) landing 🙂
:D

Lets make some mistakes shall we 🤣
I need to get that plane...
40th Anniversary edition DC3, stock in sim for you... with the Duckworth realism pack.
@@AvAngel :D I just figured that out! I've never flown it and never even paid attention to it in the hangar menu! Thanks for the tip on the Duckworth pack though...
routine flying for a bush plane but with a DC-3? gutsy...very gutsy.?
:D Totally expected I would survive.
Sometimes more than 3 things need to be delivered.
Sometimes it’s four.
