Finally, I found a vocalist training in worship and using songs that glorify Jesus. I am so happy for this. You are God sent. Please continue this ministry. Looking forward to training with you. God bless you for this. Do you have a website where you do actual vocal lessons, like adlips, riffs and runs, generally leading a group into worship?

Hey, glad to hear you are enjoying the videos here! Yes, please check out our website - www.theworshipvocalist.com for lots more video training and vocal resources. I have many videos on various vocal and worship leading topics, and am always writing and recording more! I am currently recording a new course to be released for Worship Vocalist website subscribers, which will dive into tons of vocal tone and style technique, including dynamics, vibrato, phrasing, adlibs/riffs/runs, and how to use these things in a congregational worship leading setting.

    LYRICS
    Verse 1
There's nothing worth more that will ever come close
Nothing can compare our living hope
    Your presence Lord
    Verse 2
I've tasted and seen of the sweetest of love
Where my heart becomes free and my shame is undone
    Your presence lord
    Chorus
Holy spirit you are Welcome here
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere
Your glory God is what our hearts long for
To be overcome by your presence Lord
    Bridge
Let us become more aware of your presence
Let us experience the glory of your goodness

Last year I auditioned for worship team with this song and I wish I had known about these tips! I don't think I sang it well at all (too much head voice), but they let me in anyway. Now whenever I get rostered on I'm horribly insecure about my singing almost to the point where I want to stop doing it. So thanks for the videos, I will find them a great resource.

The Worship Vocalist I need this we don't use instruments except our voice. Cause we know that history in God's word tells us the first century christians didn't use instruments. So we don't want to add. But so I sing hymms and I crack a lot how can I have you as my coach? Do you have a contact or website?

Can you give examples of the ad libbing that's not appropriate like too much or what it may look like if it seems not humble please??

    • @worshipvocalist
      @worshipvocalist  7 ปีที่แล้ว

Well, firstly... it's about the heart! Worship leading must come from a place of humility and a desire to lead others into an encounter with Jesus! If there's a heart/pride issue... no amount of ad libbing is ok... in fact... I'd go so far as to say that no amount of worship leading is ok. :)
Secondly, it's all about context, what song... etc. If it's a solo performance, more ad libbing is acceptable than if you are worship leading and desiring that everyone follow and sing along. If the melody becomes too difficult to pick out, that often means there is too much ad libbing. And if there are trills/licks on every line... that's too much.
I wouldn't worry too much about it "seeming not humble". The truth is -- there is someone that will take an issue with everything, no matter what it is. Everyone has different standards of how to sing, how to dress, how to present yourself, what to say... etc... as a worship leader.
My desire is to give guidelines and principles that are not about RIGHT and WRONG but just some helpful things to think about in your journey as a worship vocalist. Above all, follow the leading and guiding of the Holy Spirit, and have an open, humble heart to guidance and correction! :)
