Wishing you the best at Rhinebeck. I am there in spirit, if not in person! It was interesting to learn about Miss Babs. Her booth is always jammed packed at SAFF (Southeaster Animal Fiber Festival).
I watch TH-cam tutorials too and i have to check the right increase and left increase too every time! Congratulations on your 100 Mill Cast episodes, they are greatly enjoyed....
How did I just now find your channel?!! Why was everyone keeping it from me?! I’m so happy I foiled their evil plot. 😂 Yay! I had a great time watching this morning.
Have a grand time at Rhinebeck, wishing you a great week end. I was there at the beginning of Rhinebeck. Mainly it was about the bred ewes being sold. Us fiber folks were there, but not the main event. I was in charge of fleece sales. There were about 15 fleeces, and they were awful! Two livestock buildings were used….no plastic wrap on buildings, brrrr! My how the festival has changed.
Wow ! I remember in 2004 going and buying yarn and roving ,. And the vendors would say … “I don’t know what you guys do with all this stuff but you apparently love it “
Happy 100th! Amanda I have been knitting a long time but am still learning new things or reinforcing techniques from TH-cam. My friend and I were just talking last night about how great it is to look up something on TH-cam. She’s not a knitter but uses it for other fiber crafts.
Woohoo for 100! Can’t wait to see you in your crowns 👑 at Rhinebeck. That leaf peeping color in lite is awesome, some definitely needs to come home with me ❤
Congratulations on 100 episodes! Beautiful yarn and I love your Italian summer scarf. I forgot to comment the last millcast that I knew immediately which song you were talking about. Great song and very apropos. Hope all goes well in Rhinebeck! I’ve been knitting a long time and I still have to doublecheck I am doing things right and there are always new things to learn.
What a fun episode! We can feel your excitement for the weekend. (And you two are the cutest in those crowns!) One of these days I must make it out there 😊
Congratulations on 100 Millcast Episodes!!! I love your Millcasts!! They are a bright spot in the day bringing smiles of happiness to my face!! Thank you!!!!
Great interview! I bought my first two skeins of Miss Babs at Rhinebeck last year - biker chick. I then ordered a couple more skeins from the website in silver. I knit the What is Hip? Poncho. Everyone who sees the poncho comments on the beautiful yarn. I just love knitting with it. I look forward to seeing the collaboration yarn❤
Congratulations on your 100th Mill Cast!! You ladies are amazing and I want to thank you for taking us along for the ride!! Here’s to another 100 or 1000 ❤
My Tuesday is complete! HAPPPPPPPPPPPPPY MILLCAST-AVERSARY! 100 episodes! Too groovy! Way to go, ladies. Fun interview w/Miss Babs et al! Thank you! Hugs and congrats, from your crochet pal in Ohio ☺️🫶🏻🧶🧡✌🏻
Hi Peggy and Amanda, Happy 100th Millcast-Anniversary!! I have enjoyed them All! Great interview with Ms. Babs and crew! Have a wonderful time at Rhinebeck! Safe travels! Enjoy! Happy Knitting / Crafting to all!
absolutely Love you guys and I've been having such a nice time catching up on your past Mill Casts and "Origin Story". I recently made my first Mussleburgh and did the crochet cast on from @KnittyNatty and as a new knitter, I'm always searching for those 'reminder videos' for special techniques. Hope to see you both in MD this year (my husband bought me an early pass already so I'm sure to make it! - fingers crossed!)...would love to come up to Vermont someday too! Keep doing what you're doing - it's GREAT! oxo
I met Miss Babs years ago at a stitches west, 2019, I think. She is a wonderful warm human being. her yarn dyeing is the best! Sojourn (sport, now discontinued) and Yowza are my faves.
I can't wait to see you all at Rhineback. I love watching your Millcast every Tuesday as I prep for teaching my art class. Your to fill my morning with joy and Yarn inspiration!
Happy 100 anniversary🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉. You two are awesome princesses!! Can't wait to see you at Rhinebeck. I have yet to cast on a musselburgh due to the start of it. I need to TH-cam it.
A big congratulations on 100 episodes! I am looking forward to seeing you at Rhinebeck. Very excited! Amanda, I have made the Musselburgh hat a few times and my method now is to start with a provisional cast on,work towards the crown, and then pick up the held stitches and go the other direction to make the crown on the other end. I don’t enjoy the fiddly cast on. A trick I learned on TH-cam!
Happy 100th Millcast! Love hearing about the new yarns, the Fiber Festivals and your interesting interviews. Congratulations on the collaboration with Miss Babs. You guys are definitely branching out, getting more exposure and making a real name for yourselves! All of your hard work is paying off! Have a great Rhinebeck! Can’t wait to hear how it went.
Happy 100th! Like you, I find I'm always looking things up on TH-cam. M1L, M1R are so confusing, and I cannot for the life of me commit them to memory...maybe because there's so much to remember? 🤣 Thank the gods for TH-cam and all the content makers who so generously make tutorials for poor souls like me. Enjoy Rhinebeck!
Congrats on "100" episodes! I have loved them all! Save the crown, Amanda, and hopefully I can wear it when I turn 100!!!! Ha!!! Yes, TH-cam is my friend during knitting projects. Safe and fun travels to Rhinebeck!
I forgot it was Tuesday until this alert popped up! Thanks for the morning laugh and eye candy yarn. I agree most everyone looks up techniques. Here’s a m1 reminder tip… m1R “it’s always RIGHT to have a BFF” (best friend forever or back-to-front, knit through the front) and left is just the reverse, front to back, knit through the back. Love the crowns - congratulations on 100 episodes! See you at Rhinebeck 🤞🏻
Congratulations on 100! I wanted to attend Millapoolza but I was away that weekend and couldn’t make it so I’m hoping to see you guys at Rhinebeck! Hoping to snag some of that gorgeous fall inspired yarn 😊
100! Y'all look great in your crowns~ I've watched from the very first episode. My husband also watches. Miss Babs is a legend and her yarn is so lovely. What a great fit for y'all. Have fun at the NYSW.
Wonderful!!! Had the absolute pleasure of meeting Miss Babs at SAFF in about 2016(?) So glad to see her company still growing strong!! Yowza has to be my absolute favorite yarn of hers, add in some Making Tracks and I think you get perfection. Hope Rhinebeck is super successful for all of you!!
Love the crowns congratulations! Love the sweaters . AMANDA, I put one of those little lightbulb stitch markers in the back of a sweater near the spot for a label, when I can’t tell front from back . See you on Saturday in NY ! ❤❤❤ and I am ALWAYS looking things up hint : the little wood cheat key chain fobs at katrinkles helps a lot They did both my shots in one arm too … I hear the flue shot gives the sore arm .. bigger needle .
100! So exciting. Good luck at Rhinebeck. I always try to learn at least one thing with each new pattern. Wow if Miss Babs collaborates with you that is high praise coming from a very talent OG dyer.
happy Anniversary 100 cool episodes. Amanda I remember m1R by telling myself the I pick up the loop from the Rear, R= R if I was using a stitch marker there it would be Red as a REMINDER.
Well have a great time at NY SW festival. Hope you have a fantastic time at the festival. Weather is looking great for it. Oh my you tube is great. for instructional videos. thank heavens !! ttfn
Great video and congratulations on your 100th episode! I think you should create a new yarn colorway for the holidays to celebrate your success (with a tiara theme). You could call it "Rockin' Bling" -- silver grays, deep gold, bronze, copper, and perhaps some ruby red and emerald green :-) BTW I am loving the Hunting Season yarn! I was inspired by your prior Millcast to buy it and design a new hat pattern. You can see photos of the first prototype of the hat on Ravelry in the projects for kgeurkink. It is named Artemis Hat. Safe travels to Rhinebeck!
Love the crowns, you two are a riot - congrats on 100!!! The fun fall festivals, - love and miss the fall color- I remember my ride to work, was back roads and glorious color!! Nothing like fall in NE- was up in Sept for grands wedding and sadly trees weren’t ready yet - your event sounded fabulous - lots of work and great success!!!🎉
🎉 Congratulations on 100! 🎉 After missing last year, I’m delighted to be heading back to Rhinebeck this weekend and can’t wait to come celebrate your milestone in person! (I grew up and attended college in NY’s Hudson Valley and went to many MUCH smaller NYS&Ws. Even though I moved away 20 years ago, it always feels like coming home.)
I remember M1L and M1R by “he LEFT through the FRONT door, and I’ll be RIGHT BACK”. M1L is pick up the loop between stitches and knit from the front, M1R is pick up the loop and knit from the back.
Happy 100th. I know we can get the yarn at Rhinebeck, where do we get that cowl pattern….my neighbor and I want to make that gorgeous cowl!!!! Do tell!❤❤❤See you ladies soon!
I can’t wait to meet you at Rhinebeck ! M1L= Left has an “F” = go into the ladder from the FRONT … M1R= Right has an “R” = go into the ladder from the REAR
Amanda, lovely video, lovely yarn. Could you please share with me the pattern of the scarf you are wearing? It's first seen at 2:15 minutes or so. Looks so comfy and perfect for how I like a scarf to be. Thanks so much.
@@junctionfibermill Thanks so much for the info. I see in the podcast that this Lindal pattern is special to your business! I stumbled upon your video while looking for some Rhinebeck 2024 videos. I had never seen anything before about Junction Fiber Mill or you and Peggy, but I was impressed with your energy and your yarn. Then I looked back through your podcasts to an interview about starting your business and learned that you are in WRJ, Vt! I'm from E Montpelier, VT and visited WRJ many times (usually on our way to King Arthur Flour in Norwich.). At any rate, it was a real walk down memory lane for me, as I moved away from VT in 2000 and have not been back to visit. I’ve made 5 musselburghs, I love knitting them. They are comfortable and warm. The cast on is an interesting. Isolde does a nice tutorial. I just finished one with lace weight on size 0 needles! Are you using DK?
I know y'all are getting all set up for rhinebeck so you probably won't see this until later, but on the topic of the cast on for the musselburgh: i did the magic circle thing one time, decided i haaaated doing it, and for all my other ones (i'm on my like 4th or 5th now) i've done a very small version of judy's magic cast on! just doing 4 stitches on each needle for magic loop, and i just follow the rest of the instructions from there. i like the look of it better too lol i think it's a bit cleaner looking.
When I make my Musselburgh Hats I do the pin hole cast on and I like the video that VeryPink Knits has but I have been seeing a few people doing a crochet cast on and KnittyNatty has a video on that one.
I HAVE A TIP! for M1R, say "I.ll be ( RIGHT BACK", and M1L is" I { LEFT} it at the FRONT door"! so for M1R go in from the back, and for M1L go in the front! not MY tip but once I heard it I never forgot, or forget...You're welcome! Karen, the oarty was fabulous and the food did not disappoint! My friend said the tacos were the best she'd ever had! And I would say she is a world traveller foodie!
Amanda- since you don’t like the neckline in the sweater you are wearing in episode 100, would you consider steeking it and make it a Henley type sweater? Ladies at scratch supply or woolly thistle may be able to support you through that.
100th Millcast!!!!! Congrats!!!! Love that Cider Donuts..what a gorgeous mix of color.

Awesome!

Peggy, I LOVE your Italian Summer Scarf! What yarn did you use to knit that? (And, no, I won't be at Rhinebeck.)
The scarf is in Aurora Borealis Lite with Cowgirl Blues Mohair in blue. :)
Does anyone know the dates for 2025 Sheep and wool festival?
October 18 & 19 2025!

I LOVE the sleave length, they won't get into things, get dirty, etc
