I wasn't Sure At First | The Mesa Boogie Badlander

- I wasn't sure at first on the Mesa Boogie badlander, but after I was able to use some extreme settings, and a mixture of the right pedals the Mesa Boogie Badlander is definitely going to find a good home among my other amps! The Mesa Boogie amps are definitely a brand that takes some learning to dial them in properly. I am just thrilled that I am the proud owner of my first Mesa Boogie Badlander.
Thank you so much for watching!

Wow bro that's the best tone I've heard you with yet. Well done.
Dude I really appreciate it!! I hope the tones keep getting better, and better 🙂 the badlander is definitely a great addition to my amp family forsure.
Thank you for tuning in and enjoying the video+
Thanks for sharing, great riffs!
Hey thank you so much for enjoying, and watching! 😁
I'm gonna put this up there with your Revv set up. This sounded absolutely brutal in the best way
Awesome dude! I'm glad the Badlander can hold up to the Revv. I love how different it is from my other amps
I thought it would be a demo of Badlander 25, but watched it anyway till the end 👍🏻
Thank you so much for tuning in, and staying until the end. The 25 watt badlander would be pretty cool to look into. I wonder if there'll be a difference in sound compared to the big brother amp.
Needs a healthy bump in bass and gain and it would be perfect, but as is it's SUPER fucking thin compared to any of the Marks or any of the Rectifiers of the past. Normally that's nice, since it keeps the bass tight, but god damn did they go a little too far with removing bass from this amp, and the gain is just so close to being enough, but after all their sculpting, it still needs an OD to get good lead tones. Rhythm tones are "close enough" with the gain maxed out, but if you're used to a 5150 or something in that vein, you will be very disappointed in the available gain and low end in the Badlander, be prepared to get a good OD pedal with a low end boost, or an OD and an EQ pedal. The overall tone character is good, VERY Mark-like, but it's a little like a Mark going through an AM radio...you reach for the bass control to turn it up and you find it's maxxed out, it can be really disappointing. Through IR's though, it sounds better, as it sits in a mix really well, but that "in the room" big tone you get from a 5150 or a Peavey Ultra, an ENGL Artist or Fireball, or just ANY high-gain amp made after 1983, is missing.
You still liking the badlander? Do you feel it has enough gain? I have a evh el34 and hate that big upper mid precence and the red channel sounds choked if run gain to high
I've had 3 of these, every variation and none of them have enough gain, I totally get this comment. My Mark III, JP2C, and Mark VII have tons more gain, and tons more low-end available. I mean, you don't always have to use it, but for leads, it's essential. The Badlander just doesn't get there without an OD/EQ pedal, sadly. Also, if you ever compare the Badlander side by side with any of the Marks or any of the other Rectifier, you'll swear the bass control is broken and stuck on 0, it's shocking how little bass this amp has. The Badlander really shines in IR mode, but just doesn't get there with "in the room" tone. The overall character is nice though, just needs a bump in gain and bass.
It really lags distortion.
Yeah it doesn't have a ton of gain though i tend to boost all of my amps which gives me that missing distortion that I need. There is a popular mod that you can really easily add to one of the valves called the Mr. Scary Mod and it adds a ton more gain to your badlander and really brings in the screaming high gain tones
Sounds like you've been listening to too much motionless in white. Not a bad thing by any means but that riff sounds like reincarnate lol
Haha you caught me! 🤣 I'm pretty sure I was playing reincarnate right before recording this video.
Motionless is in my top 3 bands I just can't help it.
@@HighImpaktAudio dude I don't blame you man I love them too! Especially disguise. Freaking banger of an album.
