This was interesting… my AIC 5 years ago was 6.5,
Triglycerides were 450.. drs were wanting to put me on a slew of meds.
An integrative PA friend help me get control of those numbers.. she advised that if I got control of the glucose issue, that the numbers should all come down as well. I was only maybe 15-20lbs over ideal weight, and middle age female. She advised getting rid of processed food, and added sugar, as well as ‘carby’ foods in my diet. I followed her advice and lowered those numbers substantially, though still in prediabetic numbers. The clincher for me was a Pharmacist who also did hormone testing etc, was able to hook me up with a CGM. I used one for a few months and it was exactly what I needed to show me exactly how bad the wrong foods were affecting my body! She couldn’t keep getting me that monitor without a prescription, which my doctors would not prescribe for me unless I was fully diabetic.
I have searched for ways to get one again, as it keeps me motivated and on track! I do have a traditional glucose meter, but I hate the constant jabbing!
I’m so happy this will be now available for people like myself to be able to keep it ‘in check’!
As for the ‘healthy banana’ or whole grain breads, oatmeal etc?? They all cause blood sugar spikes for me! My goal is to keep it as level as possible.
BTW… getting control of my AIC, has also brought my triglycerides and all into the normal range!! It CAN be done! (I’m 60!)
Thank you for covering this subject.. will follow your channel!
