  • Although I am playing through this game without tool use in the levels, I do make a savestate before each level. This normally does not have much of an effect on anything, but as this level has Boo Circles that do not spawn in their original positions every time you enter the level, I probably had an easier time playing this level than the average player. Also, I decided to not get the cape at the start of the level as I feel much more comfortable playing as small Mario here.

Trying to test every possible opening for those boo rings was probably the hardest part of designing this level. I remember the boo ring around 2:40 especially required a lot of little revisions before I was comfortable that a player could consistently clear it regardless of RNG.
Also, for what it's worth, I designed the level without the cape in mind. So playing without it is closer to what I intended anyway. So good seeing you clear it that way.
Finally, if you don't mind me asking, did you edit this video with DaVinci Resolve? I ask because I hear those pops and skips in the music, and in my experience DaVinci has issues with audio when you save as an MP4. Particularly I think when editing an OBS recording. I know I had to stop using DaVinci for that reason because I could not find a way around it.

I did not edit with DaVinci Resolve, I actually just recorded the footage with Xbox Game Bar using the hotkey Windows + Alt + R, which probably isn't much better. The crackling and popping seems to only be a big problem in levels using the SMW Ghost House theme (although it does appear a bit in other places). I don't know if my emulator (Snes9X) has anything to do with it at all.

@@minishyoshi I could see the emulator being the cause. Never used Snes9X, but I know when I initially tried to record off BSNES the audio was so out of sync that I abandoned it entirely and went to ZSNES instead, using OBS to record the window and Shutter Encoder for editing.
There aren't many guides to help with recording off an emulator and it's not always transparent how to fix the issues when they do crop up. I know most of the time with mp4s if the audio isn't in AAC format or if there are frame rate issues that can cause the audio to pop. But beyond that it's hard to generalize.
