    FSD definitely has improved, not that long ago you would have had to "bleeped out" half what Jesse said during an FSD drive because it the car did something stupid. FSD's "C.P.M." (Curses Per Mile) had definitely improved.

    Nice job guys. Challenging route. Especially enjoyed your commentary.

  • @pennyharris446
    @pennyharris446 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +35

    I noticed watching commentary during fsd drives, we forget fsd is taking into account the back camera information. So it may be more or less aggressive in its takeoff onto a street, based on the traffic behind it.
    We tend to watch the front and the sides, when turning onto a new street, only giving attention to behind the car when coming to a stop.
    Fsd is always considering what’s happening behind the car. So while not unsafe, it may pull out/wait longer/ engage earlier than we would because it has more information about what is behind.
    Going slower in a neighborhood than the posted sign seems to be from learned data. To illustrate, perhaps of the training data 65% or so of the data on a similar type street has fallen trash cans or kids playing or some other higher probability events, so fsd is more cautious on that road. How many Tesla cars have driven a road similar anywhere in the world and there are common occurrences to road types.
    People are like, why’s it going so slow? You can tap the accelerator and it’ll speed up but it is actually being cautious by the data it was trained on.
    Thanks for the great videos. Luv this channel.

    • @michaelsmithers4900
      @michaelsmithers4900 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I think the slowing is more a factor of visual distance. We should all be slowing down when the distance we can see is shorter. I learned this in defensive driving but rarely practice it.
      This is one of the ways it will be safer than humans.

    • @MikeLikesMaking
      @MikeLikesMaking 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      At least on 12.4 it's incredibly timid when it can't see around corners, even if there's people behind you. It also doesn't seem to start "looking" to turn until it's at the stop sign, and can blind itself by stopping behind a sign etc. I understand it in principle but not having cameras on the headlights seems like a missed opportunity for better vision, and maybe future version can get better at recognizing objects through brush/obstacles, but right now it's kinda scary having it turn at times.
      As far as speed go I generally agree that the speeds are reasonable but you can really tell the timidness of speed when it loses far sight visibility. It's not fully consistent though and other times it whips around and on slow narrow 20mph roads it will get up to 30mph on sections with good visibility same as typical drivers, and seldom "goes 20".
      Other time it refuses to even go the speed limit which on some sections isn't a big deal, but I notice this usually results in tailgating. I tend to have to keep the accelerator on for it to go a reasonable speed when someones behind me, but if no one is I'll just let it go whatever speed it wants.

    For FSD, I'm looking forward to the ability to send your car anywhere - Discount Tire, Tesla Service, pick someone up, pick up groceries where the supermarket has those "pick up your stuff" spots, etc., then have it return when the service is complete/products are loaded.
    On a different subject, I use the live camera view to see if your vehicle is still in the parking lot or is actually in the shop. Very handy.

      @@alexp.6406 Most likely. There is at least one exception. It has always used the latest beta version on the stretch of highway between Elma and Olympia, in WA. It also has never been able to use NoA there. 12.3 has been crossing over the lane-lines a lot, and failing to deal with construction speed limits and blocked lanes. Hoping that will be fixed on 12.5.

    Have you noticed that the hydraulic brakes are typically favored over re-gen breaking. I have disengaged many times over this issue and recorded complaints & bug reports. Reason is most of the time hydraulics are irrelevant and I don't want any break jobs in the future because of failing inspection. I drive FSD with shoes off in order to feel any unnecessary movement of the brake pedal. 99% of the time I'm using re-gen to smoothly bring my TM3 to a full stop.

I have 12.3.6 for the last 2 months, now wanting the newest on my HW3, and you showcase this build on chill in rural....... absolutely no challenges. Go to Boston, and turn this on..................... Let's do some real product testing. So, it's chill, in rural roads my grandma can drive with one eye, and no reaction time. I test my 12.3 in Vancouver, BC, from North Shore in rush hour over the congested Lions Gate Bride, merging 4 to 1, then through downtown, with buses, cyclists, jaywalkers (that's fun), to endless pedestrians that won't' let you turn left until it's red. and you give us rural, no stress MA. Way to go guys. Keep reporting. Love the channel, but for the sake of a vid like this, drive to Boston

    They got level 2 wrong, level 2 is lane keeping and adaptive cruise control and a few more features. Its basically standard tesla drive assistants.
    FSD is level 3, which still requires instant intervention.
    Level 4 is where you can stop paying attention, but the car may ask you to take over at some point in the trip, so you must be an able driver. This is for strange/edge case instances.
    Level 5 is the driver is no longer needed and can drive without the human. This is also the level where you can be driven home if you drunk.
    The move from level 4 to 5 to probably be quick but level 3 to level 4 will be a long slog.

    • @TheSpartan3669
      @TheSpartan3669 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Wrong. Level 3 requires no attention, and the manufacturer will take responsibility for any fault for accidents caused during level 3 operation. FSD requires attention 100% of the time and Tesla doesn't take any liability at all.

    The turn signal staulk has five positions if you count the off position. Your pilot kept just tapping up and down on the first position which is three flashes only. Press all the way up or all the way down for left or right turn signals to stay on

    My 2021 FSD model 3+ has just started riding the line and not centering perfectly like it has for a few years now ! I hear the drift bumps on the tires when it rides to the left and it even went off the pavement into the gravel on the right a couple times. I hope I get the new update soon and it correct this.

      I believe, it's a setting ycan access from the control panel. It Takes up to a hour to reset the calibration. There are some instructional videos on TH-cam if you search. Gl.

    I like 12.5. But it's only a baby step in time and transportation. The world of 2100 will have none of this. This will be like watching stage coaches from the 1850s in a western movie is now. A fun fantasy.
    What we see in transportation now, including Tesla and FSD will be gone in 75 more years. Everything!

    The easiest thing for FSD to compute is the dimensions of the car. Far easier than predicting human behavior in other cars.
    I’ve seen lots of reviewers say “ oh that was too close” but I have yet to see an FSD Tesla hit a curb.

    • @catbert7
      @catbert7 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I have seen at least 3 videos of curbing. Just because it knows the car's dimensions does not mean it is correctly discerning where the curb is.

    So does the camera see the other guy at a four way stop waving at you to go out of turn or when you both arrive at the same time and aren’t sure whose turn it is?

  • @richardtibbetts4946

    When you think it corners too tight, keep in mind the car knows better than humans where the wheels and mirrors are. Also when you think it stops shorter than you would, the camera is 3 feet closer to the intersection than your eyes.

      Ya, ask gali why his wheels are curb rashed.... I mean it is improving, but don't defend it with it knowing better yet. It makes mistakes.

    • @thotmorgana
      @thotmorgana 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not even sure if it is calculating anything like that. It just drives based on how it thinks a human would drive based on the camera input. They worked very hard to not have any rules programmed into it.

      Whereas the candidate for vice-president is proudly displaying and lying about his stolen valor and flat out lying about using "weapons of war in a war zone"...
      As for (Biden) Harris - she didn't check her watch when receiving dead soldiers like Biden did, probably because she wasn't there...
      The "suckers" quote is hearsay - from someone not on good footing with Trump...so, do you believe that you also believe Tara Reade (Biden) and Joe Brown (Harris) right ?
      Which is worse ?
