As a Chevrolet Bolt owner, I have got to say that you have some good points. You have outlined exactly what the situation is for the Bolt, and for any other ev. And that is why I will buy a Tesla in the future. Not any other brand. In comparison, all other brands are crap.
I am a Chevy bolt driver and I can confirm that I have definitely gotten used to charging at home. I took it on a long trip from South Florida up to The Kennedy space center once a long time ago and it was too much of a pain so we haven't taken on trip longer than 200 mi away since then. For that I use my Chevy volt.
you guys are great. So i feel comfortable asking this question. I drive a Nissan PRO4X. and I started driving very conservatively. I mean like 5 miles per hour under the speed limit. the range has went from 19.3 to 22.4. IF I were to get an EV pickup and drove like this wouldn,t I get far more milage than stated. Physics says yes. but I know real world isn,t always the same. thanks for all you do
While Non-Tesla drivers should try to use the right end slot, Tesla owners should try to leave that spot open if possible. I was at Walcott IA the other day and a Rivian pulled in to charge. I successfully(and nicely) explain this to the "Tesla" drivers there. I don't blame the Rivain driver, but the real interesting thing was there are two CCS ChargePoint chargers there and the Rivan driver decided to use the Tesla charging network. Congestion wasn't a problem.
I think the remedy for Ford going forward is to put the charging port on the front passenger side. This way it should cost them anything or very little in wiring distance. It will also satisfy not taking up a spot. Rivian should do the same. I think the same for those vehicles that have their charging port on the rear passenger side should be moved to the rear driver's side. Again, you're not talking about too much of a redesign and it shouldn't be expensive to do. As far as the Chevy Bolt, maybe those cars, cars that charge very low KWh and even plug in hybrids should be limited to Tesla's low KW stations such as any sub 100kw stations (which are pretty rare out there), limit them to any 120kw and 150kw stations and exclude them from V3 or V4 stations. That all can be achievable in the app. Basically once you identify your vehicle in the Tesla app you're only show the stations rated for your type of vehicle. At this point I want all non Tesla vehicles to have access but I think one of the biggest road blocks is making sure other manufacturer's app is compatible with the Tesla network. Maybe it's to do with the way non Tesla cars communicate on the Tesla networks. Ideally it should be just like what Jesse is doing here. Don't even use the Ford Pass app. Just use the Tesla app when charging at a non tesla car. Maybe that will allow more cars to have access...if they don't have to wait for them to work out the cross platform communications and just use the Tesla app.
I just used a MagicDock location last week with my Vortex adapter to try it. While I was charging a Bolt did show up and used the MagicDock a few dispensers down from me. They could have used one of the 2 open CCS chargers, those were 25cents per kwh cheaper than tesla is at the same rest stop. Its going to be funny to see a Superchargers full with Bolts charging to 100%.
Fun fact, I was Ubering with my leaf and let the battery get down to 2%, and then I got stuck in snow, depleted the battery, and had to level 1 charge at some random doofus' house
The granny charger is for when you visit granny way out in the countryside. It's not like she doesn't have electricity. She would of course want you to leave with a full battery as well as a full stomach. Go visit granny! 😄
I’m not sure about Ford, but GM has already stated that if you are using a non-GM supplied/approved adapter, like an A2Z or a Vortex, and something goes wrong that damages the vehicle’s electronics or charging system and they can attribute it to the third party adapter, your vehicle’s warranty will NOT cover the damage. I believe that Tesla has said the same about damage to their chargers from “unapproved” adapters. Damage on those could run into the thousands of dollars. Granted, the odds are very small that damage could occur, but I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be arguing with GM’s army of lawyers to try to get GM to pay for repairing my fried Lyriq. There has been speculation that once the adapter manufacturers get their products UL certified (UL is still working on a standard) GM/Tesla will relent and approve them. Until then, I’ll charge at home and if necessary put up with EA and EVGo. YMMV.
If I were Tesla I would tell car manufacturers to move the charge ports and make fast charging a standard if they want to use the Tesla Chargers. I never like the idea of sharing, it's like I paid a premium to not have to charge with just any Ev.
Oh god I wish you had put this out about a month ago. I ran into a Ford F150 customer that could not charge I felt so bad for them. The ford app is junk
"those manufacturers" lol the chargers should have been open since the beginning for everyone and set up like gas pumps .....but nah "gas station just for Mercedes cars and fuck u to everyone else" when they could have been making money and making the ev charging network better for the past 12 years
I rode my e-bike 27 miles to my office today. It's a great car alternative. You can lower the pedal assist or turn off the motor and get a great leg workout (80 lb bike!). If I rode an analog bike that distance, I could not work.
Bolts have a 66 KW battery.......and are twice as efficient (4.4 miles/KW) as other EV's...... so they don't take as long to charge as you claim. How many miles to you drive per KW with your Ford F150? Stop casting shade on Bolts......... they are GREAT EV's
Tesla shareholders might. Musk isn't helping their company very much these days. All those empty charging spots is $ lost. I want that adapter so bad! Superchargers are the game changer
Yes BYD has a real opportunity to do something with it's plug in Shark. Their battery at the moment is too small but if this hybrid can get to genuine 160 klms on a charge and sell for under $80k Australian then a lot of EV people will take them on. In my situation 80% of use would be electric. Not perfect but what can you do, the Ford is ridiculously over priced.

They're not crap, they are just not very compatible with tesla superchargers
Very interesting stuff, and appreciate how you broke this down for Tesla vs. everything else. Enjoyed the watch!
I use the Tesla Mobile Connector at home with the NEMA 14-50 plug,. I have a full set of the adapters for travel for Level 1 or 2 opportunities.
My free adapter arrived on Dec 23, 2024.
Just tried my first Tesla Supercharger.
Holy smokes, was it faster than a bat atta hell!
Can you guys do a long term review on your F-150, costs repairs etc etc. Thanks.

What if your adapter had eight feet of cable attached? Or however much it needed. Like an extension cord.

some good tips thanks!
A2Z Pro adapter is pretty awesome also

For Ford and Rivian, right most stall is always right.
Oh no! I haven’t SC’d in three years 😮 I guess I’m missing out😂
You’d think that it would be worth it to Tesla to furnish a free adapter to every non-Tesla owner.
The granny charger is for when you visit granny way out in the countryside. It's not like she doesn't have electricity. She would of course want you to leave with a full battery as well as a full stomach. Go visit granny! 😄
Or make vehicles have charge ports on the driver rear spot or passenger front spot. Or both or set another standard.
Smart BEV companies should do this. Only RIVIAN is going left rear charge ports in the future.
Awesome
What Battery do you have in the Lightning going 320 Miles? Is it the 131 kWh Battery?
Why can’t Vortex make an adapter with a 6 foot cable so that you could park on the correct side? Simple unless it would need to be liquid cooled.
Why were adapters not designed with a 90 degree turn to point toward the charger at least saving a few more inches?
I’ve charged my Lightning several times using the Free adapter. Someone needs to make an extension cord for the Tesla cables.
The Bolts EUV battery is 60.
In your thumbnail, I thought you were talking about increasing the air intake of an F150 ICE truck with a supercharger, eg an air inlet turbine.
😂
Or find a V2 Tesla supercharger, you never will have to worry about another EV at those stations.

If the adopter is UL certified, what more approval would be required?
Your Lectron link is not the product you're using.
I would often level 1 charge overnight at vacation rental houses.
Yup, last week. There are no Tesla SC in Show Low, AZ.
Splitting stalls at a location would be too confusing.
When will MB be compatible with Tesla SuCs. EA chargers in Florida are only 70% reliable.
Wait a second.... I see tow connections on the front of the F-150, can you flat tow that behind an RV?
I believe that's their snow plow attachment points.
I’ve asked at F dealership about flat towing ,they said no
You would think that if F can electronically disengage their Ice four wheel vehicle to allow flat towing 🧐
@@ElectricTechAdventures Snow plow.... that makes sense. Did not think of that. I rarely live north of I-10 so that is not a place my mind goes.
Why does Tesla only allow certain Supercharger Stations(a small percentage around me in ATL)to charge other EV’s and not all Tesla Superchargers!
Only the Tesla V3 and V4 chargers can communicate with CCS vehicles. Some Tesla SC stations have V2 chargers.
If I were Tesla I would tell car manufacturers to move the charge ports and make fast charging a standard if they want to use the Tesla Chargers. I never like the idea of sharing, it's like I paid a premium to not have to charge with just any Ev.
I had heard that Tesla was going to offer an extension cord for sale.Does anyone know if this is true?
Very unlikely. These cables are liquid cooled and there is no way to extend the cooling liquid into an extension cable.
Wow,amazing mindblowing and gamechanging? The Ford is just the best!
Oh god I wish you had put this out about a month ago. I ran into a Ford F150 customer that could not charge I felt so bad for them. The ford app is junk
Tesla should charge double the price for those vehicle that occupy more than one charging spot.
Stayin' charged up -
Thanks to Elon.
What bike rack is that?
Y’all said “hamburger menu” 😅 it’s the Tesla not McDonald’s app 😂 call it the menu button.
"Hamburger" is 1 style of a menu button. There're also "kebab", "bento" and "meatballs"
Does GM limit Bolts to 50 kWh to avoid heat combustion?
I don’t know what a home bubble is lol 😂 Nissan leaf with road trip experience 😂
"those manufacturers" lol the chargers should have been open since the beginning for everyone and set up like gas pumps .....but nah "gas station just for Mercedes cars and fuck u to everyone else" when they could have been making money and making the ev charging network better for the past 12 years
The Ford is still blocking a Tesla charging space.
You guys are too young for E-bikes. When you riding for recreation you should pedal your own arse yourself!
I rode my e-bike 27 miles to my office today. It's a great car alternative. You can lower the pedal assist or turn off the motor and get a great leg workout (80 lb bike!). If I rode an analog bike that distance, I could not work.
Just dont buy a Tesla ,and you are fine!
Bolts have a 66 KW battery.......and are twice as efficient (4.4 miles/KW) as other EV's...... so they don't take as long to charge as you claim. How many miles to you drive per KW with your Ford F150? Stop casting shade on Bolts......... they are GREAT EV's
Infomercial - if they did not sponsor this video you missed out.
$200 for a dongle
Well you could also wait for your free dongle ...
No one wants to see f150 "supercharging"
Tesla shareholders might. Musk isn't helping their company very much these days. All those empty charging spots is $ lost.
I want that adapter so bad! Superchargers are the game changer
I do.
Me too
Over AU$250K to buy an F150 Lightning in Australia!

I can get you one from here in the states and we can just ship it. Will that work?
@@TheKingOfInappropriateComments Steering wheel on the wrong side.
Maybe someone will come up with a longer cable on their adapters to connect with the Tesla Superchargers. 😉😉
Jesse was looking quite a bit thinner back in June. 😂
The adventures they did, insane pay-off!
