You should try some 38's on the thunder to smooth out some of those potholes. Maybe even go to an easier gearing for quick starts and hills.

I run 38s in the fall sometimes. I like 32s and 28s for road riding, they spin up faster and hold speed better. Steel bikes are so smooth you could probably run 23s and still be comfy.

@@tommilano5431 Yes, but that's what your classic is for. The Thunder exists for it's clearance and comfort, not speed.
