From what it looked like in the beginning it was probably restored post war or redone as a movie prop from a surplus helmet. Great restoration, I'd love to own one of these eventually but antiques like these are super overpriced where I live.
Usually your own country's surplus is cheap for me soviet era bulgarian stuff is dirt cheap so it might be worth looking into that idk where you live but im sure your country had interesting history and its worth exploring it
This is probably a restored post war helmet like agcacustoms2852 said but then again, they had sticker decals, so it was probably a movie prop or something of that nature.
I really hope to have one of these soon. A lot of fakes selling on Ebay. This one looks all original, even the decals. I would have left it alone but you did a great job and I like your channel
Can I ask you something. I would like a German helmet for the exhibition, but I don't have the opportunity to pay as much as $100-$200 for an original. Do you think it would be a good idea to remake the German firefighter helmet to look like a military one, they are the same shape
@@Grammar_Police1 The price of those helmets are different in each country, at least in my country. In country where I live, those helmets cost around 200$ if they are in a great shape:/
Thought the same thing as he scraped the decals off. That said, with all of the white, me thinks it was a previously restored helmet, being restored again!
@@harrisongray9172 this guy over here. The helmet looks like it’s been through a meet grinder and the decals are in almost perfect condition and thinks they were real lmfao
@@survivaltime8780 Your welcome. I will say that they are a pain to install correctly. But it can be done. I turned a couple M40/55 Finnish helmets into M-35 helmet's by adding the rivet's.
Nice finish... but not really a restoration if you change the colour, glue in the rivets, cut off the original Insignia replacing for the wrong ones and remove the headliner... looks nice from the outside though.

weld on a new top , trace the hole with a pencil rubbing on paper then put on steel , hammer the top til its got a rounded shape like one you cut off then weld it on in tacks til its complete keep metal butt welding so you can't see the weld then its full no holes , I hope that wasn't real ss decals , I like your work I just hate fiberglass or bondo

You restored a restored helmet. But now it looks Twenty times better. 👍

What did he applied surface on helmet in 4:42 does anyone has idea?I need info about it asap
If its not too late for you its metal filler putty mixed with hardener (the tin of filler I buy comes with the tube and a spatula)
Wait was tht an original or a replica
Real extreme way of removing split pins. I get it would preserve the helmet’s liner but still.

$100-$200 for an original? Hahaha, mate! Add a zero on the end of each one then your looking near an original m35

Don’t worry. Definitely wasn’t original decals, paint work and liner. Most likely been a post war model. Or one that was previously “restored”

wet the shell before placing the decals, it's a lot easier!
