I like that Hyundai finally stopped chasing Toyota and Honda, and started charting their own path. The Sonata Limited is a good mix of luxury and mainstream. I agree that the styling is subjective. Sometimes I don't like it, but then I recently saw a model in red with black accenting and it looked amazing. The one thing I would challenge Hyundai on is adding the N-Line engine to the Limited, at least as an option. For about a grand more, you can get an Accord Touring or Camry XLE V6, or a Mazda 6 2.5T Signature for the same money, which somewhat blunts the Hyundai argument on value. Then there is the matter of the Kia K5, which is a great looking ride as well(although its interior isn't as detailed as the Limited here. Hyundai has been killing it recently on interior design).

I think you still get more features for the price though. Most of Hyundai's limited trim cars get cooled seating (not just heated), adaptive cruise control, lane follow assist (which is a step up from other cars that just issue a warning or yank you back into the lane), blind spot view, 360 view, remote parking assist, heated side mirrors, rear occupant alert, etc.

I own one glowing yellow 2021 Sonata N-line for close to one month. I specially love this color as it showcases the red rear end tail light, and the gloss black front grille as well as the side mirrors. As far performance is concerned, this car feels damn good when you are on throttle, specially when accelerate right after the signal light turns green to give you a break from the monotonous city driving. You will get the feeling that you are being pushed back to the seat a bit which definitely feels good. You will have no problem whatsoever when merging in a highway or overtaking a slower car with this 290hp engine at your disposal. In a nutshell, if you are a car enthusiast who loves to get some excitement in your daily commute, Sonata N-line should definitely be under your consideration in this price segment.
    Thanks for the comprehensive review!

The solar panel roof wasn’t the selling point for me since up to 2miles a day on electric equals roughly 700-730miles a year which does not equate to too much savings per year (if gas is $4.50/gal, then that’s about $60 a year in savings). It feels a bit jerky when accelerating at low speeds as if the transmission isn't changing gears smoothly enough when coming off from the first or second gear. It sort of jumps or jerks when I'm going from soft pressure to harder pressure on the pedal, even if im applying the pressure gradually.. Idk if I'm making sense, but has anyone else experienced this? I can't seem to tell if this is just apart of the new 1.6t engine, if this is normal for the 2021-22 sonatas, or if this is just turbo lag.. but I used to have a 2013 hyundai sonata 2.0 turbo, and I never had this issue.

Small correction all the models except the Limited have the LED light bar, but a candescent brake and turn signal. It is only the Limited that now gets the full led tail lights. I have a 2022 N-Line and it has standard bulbs for the brakes and turn signals

Nice review guys! But I wish you had addressed what appears to be a weird interior styling element - the raised separation molding between the passenger side leg space and the console. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT? For someone like myself who appreciates symmetry in styling, this is a deal killer! I'd have to look at that every day? NO THANKS! On to the competition.

I took the SEL sonata for a test drive yesterday and yes it’s sleek but has one problem. The road and engine noise too loud . Comparing to rivals they all added acoustic laminated glass on all windows and windshield but the sonata only added acoustic windshield. The wind and road noise from windows are noticeable. Altima is more quite as an example
Also for the price point for SEL it should have parking sensors .. comparing it to Altima SV and accord

My 2022 Hyundai Sonata is having a major issue!! When I slow down or come to a stop, it’ll make a loud alert sound, the car automatically goes into park and it starts to sound like the car is cranking at the same time the rpm’s are going up. All this while my foot is on the brake. An alert also comes on that says, “shift to P OR N” (mind you, the car is already on P BECAUSE IT AUTOMATICALLY PUT IT THERE!!!!) I’ve taken it to the dealers 4 times and showed them tons of videos and they can’t seem to help me. The invoice states that the car runs as normal and they cannot duplicate the problem!!! So upsetting, especially when you are paying more than 600 a month for a shitty car with only 10 k miles. Not only that, I’m afraid that one day I’m going to get into an accident with with my kids in the car. 😩
