  • In this video we'll be showing you how we opted to finish off the over cab storage area of our campervan. Despite our initial reservations it turned out to be a cheap and cheerful solution that was highly effective!
    Below are some of the links* for bits and bobs we have used in this video.

    So WHO are WE? We’re Scarlett, Craig and Merlin and along with Helsing, form the PILGRIM PODS!
    If you enjoy this video why not check out some of our other content? Delve even deeper into our channel; we thought we’d create a series of vlogs chronicling the conversion of our old panel van HELSING (did you see what we did there?) into a weekend warrioring campervan for ADVENTURING and EXPLORING in the UK.
    Each vlog will cover a stage or smaller element of our campervan build, showing our ideas put into action and highlighting our SUCCESSES and FAILURES along the way. With no previous experience this may make for an interesting journey! Our plan is to convert a cheap van on a small budget without cutting corners and at the end, have a campervan to be proud of. We’re hoping you’d like to join us for this journey and that you find our uploads ENTERTAINING and even, INFORMATIVE!

      Your comment has just made my day! After editing Scarlett has a good nose to make sure I haven't missed anything and that it looks as good as we are capable of making it. I thought that bit of the video was funny but then again I'm the kinda person who laughs at their own jokes... 😆 Scarl mentioned that bit might be worth cutting but I stuck to my guns, dug my heels in and now your comment has justified and rewarded me. Thanks! 😀🙌

    To most people that area would have been out of sight out of mind. Great job well done.

      @PilgrimPods  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Robert, that's exactly why we wanted to get that area finished before tackling finishing the rest of the van off. If we'd left it until the end the likelihood is it would have been left as is. As always, thanks for swinging by. 🙂👍

      Thanks Andrew! Cheap, cheerful and functional is the order of the day but if it turns out looking half decent too that'll be a bonus. We just want it finished and some normality in the world so we can get out there start exploring and living a bit more. 🙂👌

    Fantastic job...I went with the, as stated below "out of sight, out of mind" option. I managed to sound proof and insulate it...just and it would have been so much easier with 6ft arms! ...can always add a facia later, but by the time it's full of stuff, let's wait and see. Like you, trying to get it finished before the end of lockdown! Great vid, regards Mick

    • @PilgrimPods
      @PilgrimPods  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Mick, long arms do help! 😀 Yeah, if we'd left it to one of the last jobs we probably would never have gotten around to it so that's why we decided to get it out of the way now. Like you say, there's no reason why you can't tackle it later on but once the world opens up to us and we can get out there and start adventuring I reckon over cab storage finishing will be the last thing on your mind when there are memories to be made! Best of luck getting your own van finished mate. 🙂👍

    • @PilgrimPods
      @PilgrimPods  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Malcolm and thanks! The ceiling and the fascia were Scarlett's ideas and I have to admit at the time I had my reservations but as always I think she got both bang on. I'll be happy once the campervan is complete so we can get out there and start creating some memories. Cheap, cheerful and functional is the name of the game and if it looks half decent once finished that'll be a bonus. Thanks for following along. 🙂👍

    Really nice, dead impressed you managed to do that without removing the shelf. I'm doing this job now. I'm wrestling with the idea of removing the shelf completely to get to some camera wiring and then insulate. It's such a faff to do that though.

    • @PilgrimPods
      @PilgrimPods  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate, yeah... I thought about removing the shelf as well but as you can see opted against in the end. It was a bit fiddly to carpet but no real hardship. We fed our reversing camera cable behind the dash under the plastic trim of the passenger footwell and up the pillar behind the seat which was a nice little route. Now, if your talking about security cameras I think that's something that we definitely need to give a bit of thought. Hope you and yours are well. 🙂👍

      Hey Toni, what works for us works for us eh! As long as we get there in the end does it really matter how we do it? 🤔😁 Yeah... there were a lot of Carry On films on this weekend for inspiration. 😂🙌

    I started this task last week and I wanted to remove the shelf in my Renault master I managed to get the frond screws lose but it was still stuck stuck in the frond on the cabin lighting or not sure but I didn’t want to mess anything up... so I left it in. I did put some reflectives and some isolation but was lost on have to close the gaps and make it some what decent... you gave me some good inspiration! I already did my walls. I put up some light weight tongue and groove. I’ll be looking forward to what you do!

    I'm following nearly all your videos as I slowly convert my own 17 seater minibus! Can I ask how much carpet you needed to line your van? I have virtually the same type. Too much maths for me to work out!!
