Only Randy is the only person in the world to have a pair of Geo Metros, a pair of Teslas, Chrysler TC, a Dynasty, a Venue, and a police interceptor. The TC looks incredible for its age.
That little ball that you're talking about at 22:15 is a pressure accumulator for the Teves ABS brake system. The accumulator has a diaphragm in it and is pressurized by an electric pump. It basically does the same thing as a vacuum brake booster. WHEN that system fails, the repairs can be very expensive.
Oh my God - that's James Earl Jones (recently passed away at the ripe old age of 93) doing the voiceover in that TV commercial! That 2.2 (sold in both naturally aspirated and turbo form) was in nearly every 80's Chrysler product from their subcompact Chargers to their family hauling minivans (exceptions were rear drive products, captive imports, and the Diamondstar trio of coupes). Loud, crude, but performed decently and got decent gas mileage. Mercifully put to pasture before the OBD II emissions standards came out in '96.
1986 Dodge Lancer es, the Bane of my childhood. I pushed that thing more than my mother could drive it. Needless to say, it is the reason my family functions look like a Honda Dealership. Also, I twitch when I hear “turbo”. Dad sold it for $50 to a local gas station for parts with 88K on it. Lasted about 4 years. Keep up the good work Randy!
The Lebaron was something I always wanted but could never find a good one. Everyone I've found is usually rusted out or destroyed. Nice to see one in good shape.
I had a 84'EXP in 85' in high school. Bought it asa wrecked and repoed car from a local bank for 2k for a year old car. 500 bucks later I had a almost nee car for 2500 bucks with a clean title. Kept it a year and flipped it for 5k. Cool looking but very slow!
I remembered when the dealer had these on the lot back in the late 80s early 90s. One thing I do remember was the high price which ment sales were slow. There was a performance model with a 16 valve head on it, producing 225 horsepower. This engine came with a manual, I believe.
It’s been a minute since I’ve checked out your channel Randy. I thought I’d check it out again. You’ve come a long way in the four or so years I’ve been watching your videos.
I couldn't click on this video fast enough. In 2008 I wanted one of two cars: a 90s Chrysler TC or a 90s Chrysler Imperial. I couldn't find the TC in Canada due to rarity, so I got the Imperial and it's still the car I had the longest.
Key fobs are NLA for the w140 S classes, but I believe you can still get a master key from Mercedes. Few years ago it was like 80 bucks. The immobilizer on the pre-97 cars was not in the tumblr but in the trunk, apart of the locking system. So if you get he master key from MB you can take care of the alarm and immobilizer when you lock and in lock the car.
That explains why when my (horn disconnected) alarm goes off, quite a lot, I have to go out and turn the trunk key to the left. I came across this accidently, when my alarm was active (flashing exterior lights), and for some reason, I went into the trunk. 1996 W210. My central locking doesn't work either, nor the key fob. So, it's manual locking and unlocking, although only the driver's door has an exterior lock. And yes, I've been told I can not get a replacement key fob from Mercedes.
Boy Randy…this video took me way back to the good old days. What ended up being my 1st wife…her father was a lobbyist for Chrysler First. They got new cars every single year!!! 😊 Had an ‘89 Red Dayton and a 1990 White Daytona refresh with the new dash. Her father had the Classic Burgundy Dodge Dynasty, thank a Plymouth Acclaim, then the best ever a White Dodge Spirit Turbo - boy I LOVED that car!!! Thanks for the walk down memory lane Randy! ❤
The cool difference in the Maserati they produced, the trident was in the grill and rear Chrysler emblem, and on all the hard tops I've seen, the rear side windows were round with a trident in them
Actually my brother in law had a 1984 EXP Turbo, the 2 seater with a 5 speed…. I drove the car several times and man that little car could move…. I also inherited a 1991 Dynasty with 40,000 miles v6 and ice cold air… The first person who looked at it bought it…. Digging the show!!
I wouldn't mind having that Maserati - slick looking car. I remember that comercial like it was yesterday. I must admit I got a little emotional at the end when it was parked in front of the Twin Towers.
You should add the cars commercials to the videos more often, it gives that sense of Nostalgia. Love the video! Very interesting, seen some cars I have never heard of.
Similar to the Bendix 10 ABS system Chrysler used back in the day. Doesn’t use manifold vacuum. Uses an accumulator and electric vacuum pump. They failed notoriously and so did the Tevis. Could potentially use parts from the dynasty to convert it to regular vacuum booster if it ever failed lol
I worked at a seasonal fast food restaurant in the early 90's, and a guy would come in regularly with a TC that looked exactly like this one. The owners of the restaurant were into cars, so they would chat with him each time he was in. He made it sound like it was a rocket, and usually would gun it when he pulled out. I always thought it was a nice looking car, but I was also into the same era LeBaron's.
The TC has a TEVIS brake system. The accumulator ball is pressurized and gives you your power brake assist, same style used on the Thunderbird Turbo coupe, Lincoln mk vii, some 80's buick's also.
Very problematic system. My 89 Pontiac 6000 had the TEVES MKII system. If you notice the pump running too often or for more than a few seconds for normal braking, you'll want to replace that accumulator. If you don't, the pump will fail and power assist and all rear braking will cease to exist. I will say, when it is working, the car will stop on a dime and give you 9 cents back.
@@topher8634 Always flush every 2 years, always start & idle (when it's been sitting) until the brake light goes out...try to keep it from failing, knock on wood
"My Maserati might do 85 I didn't lose my license Now I can still drive" Sorry, I couldn't resist. Those are very interesting cars and, as you said, rare. Nice score!
@AutoAuctionRebuilds : G'morning Randy ☕☕ 🤓 . The Maserati 2.2 with the 12 lb Turbo is a great little engine. With that being said the map sensors they used are faulty and when they die they cause the turbos to glow red hot and they catch the fuel return systems on fire because it runs right next to the turbo and that's why 95% of these ended up in scrap yards after being burned up as well as the daytonas and lasers with the same issue. Upgrade the map sensor and while you're at it put an intercooler on it and have a 🍺 🤣 ..
I worked at Chrysler in the 90's and they had no real issues..Map sensors were not a common issue..Sure over 150,000 miles issues popped up like any car from any brand.
A Real Estate Agent (lady), has a 1991 Chrysler TC in Black Cherry and 41,000 original miles. The car is like brand new and she bought the new in 1991. She has to be close to 70 years old, and tools around town with the top down. The car is beautiful. She owns a 2006 Chrysler Crossfire Convertible in Platinum Gray. Both cars are eye-grabbers.
One of the fastest four cyl car I ever drove was my 88 Lebaron, had that same turbo with a 5 spd my GOD she was potent, scary fast for being all stock. you scored big time on this lil jewel and in really nice shape too, good job!
Reminds me of the 89 LeBaron GT Turbo COUPE (majority are convertibles) I once had; was a great car! love the interior on the Maseratti but hate the porthole on the coupes. Graduated in 82; I remember the EXPs too. Thanks for all the consistent content everyday!
I don't know what model of microphone you have (probably not by Maserati LOL) but Jeez! the sound quality driving at 75 mph with the top off is astounding! Love the old Caddy.
I was not expecting this many cars! Next video is gonna be he can’t drive them all they’re just sitting and he’s gonna sell them lmao! Just kidding but love the Chrysler and all the other cars! Can’t wait for more videos
Here is the story- De Tomaso (yes, the Pantera guy) penned the TC in 1983-'84. Iacocca liked it, they went ahead with the project. Chrysler shared the spec's & drawings internally, to which the LeBaron was styled from. It took 4 years for the Italians & Auburn Hills to get the production going, so it was "Meh" by the time the TC came out because LeBarons were everywhere. Underneath, the chassis is K-based, but the pan & such is Daytona. The only panels that interchange between the TC & Le Baron are the doors. Fun fact, the rear discs are from the '87 Shelby Daytona and the VIN denotes a "Z" for country of origin code for Italy. Bought a low-mileage, triple-black one several years ago. Cheap. The kids have all driven it, the car has been easy to own, it's a back-up car now. We call it the "Chryslerati"- it's an inexpensive, unusual, fun car to putt around. There is a trunk button, too Randy. Look in the glove box The only ones that may be worth anything? The 16V, Maserati-designed (Lotus-built) head version with the Getrag 5-speed. Head gasket in the 2.2/2.5? Cometic MLS gasket, get the head re-done, use ARP head bolts or studs. The 3-speed auto is fine, the A-604 was the horrendous one that blew itself up by engaging low-reverse simultaneously or eating itself. With the Teves ABS? Flush it every 2 years, a rebuild of the master cylinder is $1500
I love it. Randy says the oil pressure was a little low and then proceeds to floor it. These cars take me back as others have said. I am 53, so remember these well.
I bought a 35k mile Catera when it was about 3 years old because I was impressed by the advertising campaign . What a pile of do-do . Just got me an 05 S65 Benz with 40k on it shipped in from Texas . I ain’t no foreign car guy no more but sometimes you see something that just trips your trigger . That guards red over black leather just made me crazy . $191k sticker in glove box and I got it for $25k plus a $1500 ride . I never saw a TC with that motor , they had a Maserati cylinder head on the Chrysler block . They were undependable , maybe someone stuffed the 2.2turbo in it ? They were good lookin buggies . My Benz gots the bi-turbo V12 and it overwhelms the traction control in a fairly dangerous way . Come on out to PA for fall Carlisle and Hershey and I’ll take you to Manheim in Manheim , PA , the OG Manheim !
I got an 1991 Chrysler tc by Maserati it has the 3.0 v6 in it though it has 65k on it I take it out as much as possible it runs and rides nice And the side Are for the turn signal and it has it hard top.
This is awesome. I've always been fond of the K cars and all their many derivatives. This is definitely peak Iacocca era Chrysler! On a side note - with all the 80s and 90s cars you have had on the channel and plan to bring to the channel, have you ever considered finding an early 90s Lumina Z34???? Preferably one with a manual transmission!
These TII engines can be VERY easily modified to crank up the boost, in the old days we literally used to use a brass air valve from the aquarium section of the pet store to bleed a little vacuum off the boost reference line to the ECU. As long as you ran high octane fuel the engine would just take it, the bottom ends are really really stout, especially for the time they were made. The Head gasket issue was way overblown. Yes, like just about anything, if you overheat it, it will blow the head gasket. Cylinder 4 didn't have the best coolant flow path and could sometimes airlock when it got really hot. Mechanics also would "gasket slap" replacements and not have the head machined properly after and they would very slightly warp, and of course it's going to pop again. The A413 auto trans as well is pretty damn stout. They really don't have any of the issues Chrysler Automatics were known for, that was the later a604 4-speeds.
Seriously enjoying the videos Randy and this Maserati TC is something special. I saw one for sale once for about $6K in Red with no damage. Only thing not to like was it had aftermarket wheels. Looks like this was taken care of besides the hail damage. Nice buy and look forward to more videos!
I like the Saab the best . I bought a Saab Trailblazer SS a few years back and I regret sellin that one . When GM owned them you never knowed what was behind the Scab badge . I had a Subasaab WRX too , that one was a hoot too . Enjoy the videos .
Last weekend I bought a 44k mile 81 Cougar XR7 with what looked like an anemic 302 , but I got the big boobie prize , it’s a 255 V8 and it’s almost as ugly as its sibling , the T-bird of that era . The reason I bought it is that it’s a Fox body car and they’re hot for swapping out a Mustang GT guts into . Love buying the low mileage 80’s and 90’s stuff and it’s hot as a firecracker right now .
Im from Portugal and seeing this car never seen before,Randy i kinda like it,looks slick. I loved that u included the comercial, brings memories on the early days man.
She's a beauty. I always loved those Chrysler Labaron/Maserati convertibles, especially the red ones. I had a 1985 Chrysler Lebaron hatch back sedan 2.2 with 167,000 on the od.( unfortunately not the Maserati) It was the same identical cream color as yours and it boogied on the NJ Turnpike with the cc on. .It had ice cold ac as well that my father had changed from r12 to the 134a. He gave it to me for free so no complaints there👍
Duuuuuuude....I can't believe you found an EXP....you don't know how cool I thought that car was when I was young. And....Duuuuude...I was expecting less vids, but you are giving it everything you got. Love it!
@@AutoAuctionRebuilds I don't give real advice. But, from a guy on the outside looking in, don't let the old man in. Keep it going brother. Too many people enjoy what you do. Step away. Relax.
The rare engine is a turbo engine with a Maserati dual overhead camshaft 16 valves Also it’s has Red cam covers .. I believe it had 195 - 210 horsepower
They did NOT blow head gaskets back in the day... The ones that did had 150,000 miles plus and coolant was NEVER changed! Neglected cars. I worked at a Chrysler dealer in the 1990's circa 1990-1998,I would have seen them.I started my career at 18 working in the garage. Their transmissions were reliable too.. Chrysler had a 350 and a 400 hp 2.2 Turbo but back in the mid 1980's they didn nor anyone no aftermarket Gertag etc could make a fwd transmission that could handle the 400 hp! Chrysler could only have a 224 hp 2.2 Turbo 3 in 1990-1993.. I knew 4 people with new 1984-1990 2.2 and 2.5 Turbo engines and not one needed a head gasket win the 12 years these cars were in their ownership..All had 150,000 to 200,000 miles.

I drove my grandparents 94 white with blue interior with extended length New Yorker back in the late 90s early 2000s. My Was Granma had 90 lebaron too. Those cars NEVER were in alignment even the second you had it aligned.
The Ford EXP was a terrible car in an era of eighties junk. The Maserati was a surprise. She seemed to have run much better than I expected. For a car you did not test ride or look over beforehand, you got lucky.
I agree! A decade of mostly junk and ugly body styling. When they lost the curves they lost me. One of the worst was the so called 80's Nova. I think most of the engineers and design teams took that decade off.
Keep me posted about the 1982 Ford EXP…. I am currently rebuilding Mercury LN7, and looking for a running driving EXP!
Living the 80s and 90s dream....love to see it!

I owned a 1984 and a 1987 Ford escort exp. The 84 was all metric with turbo. When it blew up, it literally blew up. 87 ran great.

On a side note - with all the 80s and 90s cars you have had on the channel and plan to bring to the channel, have you ever considered finding an early 90s Lumina Z34???? Preferably one with a manual transmission!
RIP. James Earl Jones voice on the Maserati commercial. Classic!
We had a red one with the hard top and black interior. Lots of fun in that car
Now That is a great Car for Nick Just the right size for him 🚗🚙🌝
Those are some cool rides. Look forward to their videos. I wish I could go back to each decade to drive all the cool cars lol
Seriously enjoying the videos Randy and this Maserati TC is something special. I saw one for sale once for about $6K in Red with no damage. Only thing not to like was it had aftermarket wheels. Looks like this was taken care of besides the hail damage. Nice buy and look forward to more videos!
I’m super psyched about this bunch of cars !!! Tons of content, and I can’t wait to!!!
Your IG right now looks like a walk down 80's-90's automotive history. It gives me that warm fuzzy feeling everytime I open it up
Those corner lights most likely only come on when you activate the blinkers. Pretty common on that style of car, it’s used a lot on Cadillac and Buick
I like the Saab the best . I bought a Saab Trailblazer SS a few years back and I regret sellin that one . When GM owned them you never knowed what was behind the Scab badge . I had a Subasaab WRX too , that one was a hoot too .
Enjoy the videos .
Funny I just looked a Maserati TC last week at a dealer, they wanted 8k
I love that TC! She's gorgeous.. especially the color! And I'm dying to see more about the W140 S320!!!
It is crazy stuff like this that keeps me coming back to this channel. Awesome car.
My first car was a 1994 Skylark identical to that one. And my Mimi had a 92 Dynasty, also called the Dy-Nasty. I hated both 🤣🤣🤣
So very cool!! Love the collection that you have bought! So glad to see these cars being saved! Looking forward to the future videos!
I love the new car purchases for the channel! Keep up the cool videos!
The overkill amounts of LEATHER! I'm in love.
He gave it to me for free so no complaints there👍
i love cars and trucks from 99 and back 🤘🏼😁
Thank you Randy! Always looking forward to your videos. Best regards from a Dutch fan of yours.
Loving the Dr Pepper shirt! Excellent choice! Oh, and our Dynasty was one of the best cars we've ever had. 250,000mi with very few issues.
Duuuuuuude....I can't believe you found an EXP....you don't know how cool I thought that car was when I was young. And....Duuuuude...I was expecting less vids, but you are giving it everything you got. Love it!
One last real push to see what this channel can do before deciding on my next step.
@@AutoAuctionRebuilds I don't give real advice. But, from a guy on the outside looking in, don't let the old man in. Keep it going brother. Too many people enjoy what you do. Step away. Relax.
The rare engine is a turbo engine with a Maserati dual overhead camshaft 16 valves
Also it’s has Red cam covers .. I believe it had 195 - 210 horsepower
I love the Maserati TC. Unfortunately you don't have the hardtop that they had. I love the opera windows on the hardtop.
The Chrysler looks like a clone of one of those Cadillac Allanté from the same era.
Randy - I've watched nearly every one of you videos and have absolutely loved your knowledge, presentation, and content. I confess that I had something of an emotional reaction when you recently discussed not continuing your content and hope that you seriously reconsider. There a lot a viewers who appreciate you and hope you continue making content full time for the next few years. Perhaps you can address this in your next video.
We love you!
I drove my grandparents 94 white with blue interior with extended length New Yorker back in the late 90s early 2000s. My Was Granma had 90 lebaron too. Those cars NEVER were in alignment even the second you had it aligned.
Enjoy all your content but really enjoy the 80's 90's content!
