Cool video. I think I'm about to tackle my sons in his 93 stepside. Problem is I'm not sure if he needs a rebuild or a torque converter. Is there any way to tell without going through all the bullshit I think I have to do and drop it? What's the weight on those things anyway? If he does need it rebuilt is it easy enough to toss it into the back of a truck and have a transmission shop tackle it? We already did his spider gears last year, and I'm thinking it's his converter (mostly because he has a receipt of a tranny from the previous owner). Is a rebuild REALLY that big of a pain in the ass? I'm wondering if we should tackle it or not, I really want to but I'm a bit nervous of seriously doing more harm or spending MUCH more money. Again, great video and thanks for posting!
First of all yes the rebuild is a huge pain in the ass. I did it on my Silverado and I will never do it again. Getting the tranny in and out of the truck isn't too bad if you have a decent Jack or like I was using a motorcycle jack. I can't remember how to tell the difference between a torque converter problem and transmission problem but a quick Google should find you that answer. And 1200 to get his tranny prepared was a lot of money but it's been perfect
Brooo! We just finished rebuilding the SR20 and will be putting it back in the car soon! i have videos of the progress so far and there are more coming soon!
I have the same transmission will that transmission fit in a 1996 1500 305 with control on the side ?
Oil or transmission fluid?
that OSHA approved footwear tho
😂😂
How much did the new trans cost?
We got a guy to rebuild the transmission for $1,200
And a "New" one will run ya about $2,000 (standard stock internals) to $10,000 (racing internals).

What size was the torque converter bolts
I think they were just standard 3/8 bolts for a chevy 350
Talk to much
