I'm from Georgia as well, just like their family is. And unhealthiness is more and more common the further down south you go in Georgia. If you go to north Georgia, like to the mountains, however, you are more likely to see active people and skinnier people. I think a HUGE thing that plays a role in how inactive people are in the more southern towns in GA is because of the awful humidity. Also, there aren't as many things to do there. At least in the mountains, it gets colder, and you can go on hikes and enjoy the scenery. Another thing, of course, is the unhealthy eating.. Idk what it is about southerners and how everything has to be fried...even vegetables! Vegetables are not meant to be fried! Lol
Before I end this comment, I do want to point something out to the people who are a bit too crazy about being healthy though. Being skinny has nothing to do with being healthy. Anorexic people may look more attractive than fat people.. however, they experience their own set of health problems as well, and they could possibly die from it too. Also, I'd like to point out that the weight that an individual should be also depends on their height and gender... height especially. For some people, being "fat" is healthy for them, because of how tall they are. It's usually for shorter people, women especially, who need to be a bit skinnier... but not anorexic necessarily. And what matters is not how you look, but how you feel. If you are at a weight where you feel good and healthy, then that's okay! Even if it is 140 pounds, if you feel healthy and are full of enough energy, and aren't experiencing bad health problems, then you're doing just fine!

Between having PCOS, Thyroid problems and going through a hard time in my life I let myself go. I recently started working out and I'm already down 11 pounds. I refuse to be this big ever again

That's actually really sad. Alana never really had a choice in the matter and was never shown how to eat for the sake of nutrition. Alana's not the one buying the groceries. All she sees around her is to eat until you're full and to eat for entertainment.

I dont think its her eating habits, I think its what go's into the food she eats. if you used their recipe for spag bol, you'd probably gain like 1.5 ibs. a stick of butter and a bunch of ketchup with spaghetti doesn't sound exactly healthy

My heart goes put to this poor little girl. Her mother us killing her, think about who alana would be if she was raised differently, to me, and you may find this ridiculous, but I think alana is a really intelligent and bright child, and I think she's now aware of her health and wants to improve, but her mom is not letting her succeed. I believe she's beautiful and smart, but she hasn't been taught any manners, and from age 6-8, the media and TLC supported it. Fame has destroyed this child, I believe there's a lot of child abuse that no one is seeing, and I think there's just been too much bullying and ridicule. I couldn't image being honey boo boo, the whole situation breaks my heart.
It's sad that there are many who will starve to death, but these shows will focus on families who can afford TOO much food.

Anyone with eyes can see that this child is unhealthy and the show made light of how terribly they ate, but the press as well as the ignorant public insisted that her family was 'just a bunch of benevolent good-time having southerns'. If you honestly think that this is about protecting Alana, you are very, _very_ gullible. This is about squeezing as much marketing money out of this family, until they're no longer popular with the masses anymore.
I am very much aware that somewhere in all this mess they are using Alana for the money. However I also know that many people have said they will be keeping a close watch on the girls too.
