Evaporust is not available in the UK AFAIK, but in any case I typically use non proprietary means to do the rust removal like Citric acid - non toxic (it's a foodstuff and used as such) - electrolysis for REALLY heavy rust, and plain old mechanical means for surface rust like wire brushing - rotational & by hand - and using various levels of Scotchbrite from the really heavy duty open foam, hard blue disks to the great for polishing red & green product which are available very cheaply.
I am currently restoring a large pillar drill (70mm x 800mm column!!), A Myford ML2 lathe, two Record vices, one just completed, multiple parts of those items were extremely rusted including two Jacobs chucks rusted solid, both now working perfectly and freely - ALL the above, but especially the latter just submerged & soaked in citric acid (6:1) for 1-4 days.
The key I have found with any kind of tools is to FIRST thoroughly degrease & clean using Gunk engine cleaner - submerge, soak, scrub - use all sorts of brushes from paint brushes to toothbrushes, then thoroughly rinse in clean water, dry, check for and remove any remaining grease etc, then submerge and soak in citric acid for as long as needed giving an occasional fine wire brushing to remove the loose (typically black) oxide layer. This latter step of acid soak is vital to remove and release rust binding internally and works. The two rusted solid chucks were able to be moved easily afterwards which enabled full disassembly, further rust removal and polishing now they both look like well used but also well maintained units. There is nothing like seeing solid tools being resurrected from the dead/scrap heap. Best one in the last three years? A completely rusted, seized and totally unusable small 10" stilson wrench that cost just £1 !!.
at an auto jumble.. Now a HIGHLY useful, great looking red and black addition to my bench!

I’ve used a fair amount of Evaporust. Your pre degrease tip is quite important for best results. Enjoy your channel

What kinds of projects do you use your 4 Jaw Chuck on? Great video, Jon :)

Henry Milander The four jaw chuck is very versatile. It can hold all sorts of odd shaped pieces. Even holding round pieces it is much more accurate than a three jaw chuck. Thanks for watching Henry! 😀💫✨☘️🚀🚀🚀

Hi Jon, that evapo rust did a great job. I might break down and finally buy some after seeing your results. Cheers

Right On Joe! 👍🏼 I think it works great! I wish I had a 50 gallon drum of it. I would like to soak some big parts! 😃💥

Having to catch up with you again Jon, where do you find the time? Oh, never mind, I know why... In any event, even though I didn't have a clue as to what a 4 jaw chuck is/was, I do now. Very interesting, makes sense, and as always, you make learning interesting for this old goat. Thanks brother!

Jon, Can you use the Evapo-rust over again? Now, considering the cost of Evapo-rust vs White vinegar is it worth the cost? And, you still had to use some elbow grease.

Hi Vincent! 👍 Yes you can use it over and over and in my experience it works a lot better than vinegar. All parts must be completely covered/ submerged in the evaporust. Also be sure to degrease parts prior to evaporust.
      Right On!👍
