  • Mark shows you how to take off your door panel on a C5 Corvette. There are lots of reasons to do it on this car for various problems so it's a good thing to know how to do it right. The C5 were built between 1997 and 2004

    Be careful!!! I help my friend remove his DRIVER side door panel on his 98 C5 after watching this video. Either the difference in year (98 vs. 2001) or which side of the vehicle is being worked on is important. Removal of the driver side window/door lock/mirrors panel was exactly opposite as described in this video. The driver side panel needed to be pried up from the REAR instead of the FRONT and slide BACK as opposed to FORWARD as shown in the video. Unfortunately, the switch panel was broken learning this important lesson at a replacement cost of $350.00.

    Great instructions. Thank you. On my 03 I had to start removal of the power window/door lock switch on the Drivers door from the back. There is a plastic clip in front that will break if you don't. This may be because I have Memory Seat control in the door or that it was the drivers door and not the passenger as in the video. Everything else worked as in the video. Thanks.

    I have the factory bose speaker system in my cat and I have had the battery disconnected for several repairs and long term storage. I a have never had to reset the radio. What's that all about? Do you have some premium entertainment package, aftermarket radio, or factory replacement radio that doesn't match your VIN?

    The driver's side window/door/mirror panel pops out from the rear. My switch panels are very brittle and cracked even while removing them the proper way. However, you do not need to actually remove the switch panels. Once you start popping the door panels off you can pivot the panel out and reach underneath to remove the electrical clips on them. Then remove the panel the rest of the way.

    On my 2002 C5, the right window/door lock switches would not work. Thanks to your video, taking the door panel off was a breeze. Found the electrical connector not connected. Sometimes you're just lucky! Works just fine now but I wonder why the connector came off. Maybe a repair had been made previously but the connector lock was not engaged?? Thanks

      I think your bang on Don - could be from factory but hell most times you have to fight to get a connector apart - most likely a previous repair - lucky you - I wish most problems had that solution - cheers

    Have a 2000 Vert. Driver window does not tuck all the way in to the top cover. Looking from outside (Upper right)... glass goes a little over the corner thereby way to much noise. Someone said there is a window adjustment to possibly change the angle. Can you advise on this? Happy to send a pic if requested.

    My passenger door latch won't lock or open. It moves slightly when the lock or unlock button is pressed. I wonder if they need lubrication as the owner's manual says that the door latches need periodic lubrication. Thanks for showing how to remove the door panel.

    How about a noise heater when you push the high button and it sounds like Vet is going to fall apart ; I need to find out what is going on in there . Blue lady is my 2002 Vet with 78,232 miles , it has issue and am slowing working it out as my 2001 grand Cherokeeit's low mileage ; finishing up on the breaks (it's my everyday car) and my Vet (Blue Lady) is my nice top down summer car.

    • @carquestions
      @carquestions  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rob- that noise is bad bearings in the blower motor most likely - so out comes the blower motor and soon since the increased drag by bad bearings can blow fuses or damage blower motor resistor - once the motor is out find a way of lubing the bearings if you can or replace it

I didn't think it was a big deal cause I thought I could just order 2 new door handle bolts but I couldn't find them online on any of the GM OEM parts warehouses and when I went to the dealership they said it was a discontinued bolt that they no longer carry... Now I just have to deal with a loose feeling handle forever...

    just bought a 2002 74,000 miles convertible last week ; Top down and both windows down ; passage door close solid like new, driver door sound loose when door is closed , this video will help me find why the driver door sounds like the windowis about to fall apart. Just want the drivers door to sound solid when closed .

    • @JDMricist
      @JDMricist 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Robert Mullins omg, I have an '03 with 110k miles and have the SAME problem. Passenger door closes like a new car but the drivers door feels loose and clanky sounding when closing. Found out it was coming from the mirror. Try to wiggle your passenger mirror. It shouldn't move. Then try wiggling your driver side mirror. It will probably wiggle around. If you have the same problem as me, that's the culprit. I still have to take the door panel off to see what's going on... Hopefully I'll have time this weekend.

    WARNING: The left and right panels come off differently. The RIGHT door switches pry out from the TOP , yet the LEFT switches pry out from the BOTTOM!!! You WILL ruin the panel if you pry from the wrong end. Hope this helps! ;D (Note; you don't need to remove the switches or the reflector to remove the panels)

  • @tyler1988
    @tyler1988 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    DONT PRY THE DOOR SWITCH PANEL UP! They're too brittle and almost guaranteed to break if you pry them like this guy.
    There is plenty of room to disconnect the switch from the harness after releasing the clips that hold the panel on.
    Just remove the door popper bezel, the screw cover, the two torx screws and go around the edge of the panel gently popping the panel loose before lifting it up off the top where the window wipers/weather strip is. Then reach in behind and wiggle the connector loose. Remove the switch after the panel is totally free. MUCH MUCH EASIER AND SAFER.
