    John, I discovered that I could remove the door panel without pulling the switch. There was enough cable to pull the panel away and then disconnect the window switch by reaching the behind the panel.

      I found the same thing, accidentally. Forgot to lift out the switch panel, the found it was easier to remove with the door panel off.

    Ordered the part off of Amazon and with my Prime credit it only cost me $28. Followed the video and had it all done and working in about 80 minutes. Thanks so much. The dealer wanted $420 for parts and labor. Your car looks awesome. I need to replace my seats and will be looking for videos on that work.

    Nice video, many thanks for your effort. On my son's 2004 C5 convertible for the passenger side, we encountered some trivial differences to your model. #1: the metal spring tab for the switch is on top, with the white plastic tab on the bottom... so we popped that off by prying gently from the top (opposite of driver-side tab setup). #2: the speaker was held on by 7mm screws, #3 the window motor and regulator were held on by 10mm nuts. Overall it was a surprisingly easy project and very satisfying to have a working passenger window again because I'm typically on that side. Of course, you also need a 13mm for the glass and a T30 for the trim bolts. Sometimes he streams his Corvette drives (CrisprJW or some such on youtube).

    The proper way to remove the window controls is to remove the door panel and then take it out from the tab inside that you can't see with out the door panel off. There is enough wire connecting it that you can get the panel off and tilt to see the inside of the panel and the window controls. Unfortunately not many tutorials on TH-cam know this. You can glue your broken controls back together but more than likely in rain water will get in the cracks and cause your window to ghost open, close or both.

    • @JohnEngel
      @JohnEngel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tmauricio9028 mine did not need any but there are adjustments where the glass is connected to the rail. You want the glass to sit flat on both holders then you can use the adjusters to do anything changes needed.

    Nice video, saving this for my future C5 Z06.
    One thing to note: previous owner put the silencer mat in the wrong areas. This is supposed to go inside the door cavity stuck to the inside of the door panel. Where it’s located on the inner panel will give little to eliminate road noise. While that door cavity was open I would’ve put dynamat in there.

    You're not the first and certainly won't be the last to break that window switch. To get mine out it pulled the clip off, I never put it back on cause that is a horrible design to hold the thing in. I removed the clip from the other side too.
    Fortunately I was able to glue the driver's side 😊back together with some super glue. These things don't need a clip that strong and set so far back. So I just let it sit in there cause you're going to need to get in that door regular, these window drives are badly designed. 😕
    Thanks for the video, these how too always help others if not the person doing them. 😎

    Just fyi, using crazy glue and baking soda makes a very strong repair, to stiff, no flexibility of the material but that is ok for the purpose the down is that you need to grind de uneven finish 😊🍻
