Man, there has never been a game that has done water better than Sea of Thieves. it amazes me every time I see it. They clearly put a lot of work in to it, and it just looks right. It's super realistic but still matches the art style of the rest of the game and blends well with everything.
I love that, even with all the stuff that they've added to the game, it's still the core ship styles and gameplay that keeps me coming back to SoT! Nice vid!
Yeah I stopped playing right around when they added destructible masts, capstans etc. So I was worried, coming back to it, that all the new destruction, the fire, the blunderbombs and chainshots and all would take away from the core experience. I am happy to see that that is not the case. I worried for the same thing when they added cursed cannonballs tbh, but I actually generally appreciate them. I don't use them much, but they really broaden the strategic possibilities without making the receiving crew feel helpless about it
People really be complaining that Drew doesn’t always take fair fights in a PIRATE game. It’s not like he’s gonna wait for them to get ready to fight or something.

19:40 that's a Shrouded Ghost, the rarest type of meg in the game. You get an achievement for killing it, I've played hundreds of hours and never seen one. And you just sailed away.
Drewski, I challenge you to do what my crew did a week back. Farm 3 Fort of the Damned Forts in a row as a brig while having half a server on your ass. The most stressful hours of gaming I’ve ever experienced. Though unbelievably fun.
So I'm a new player in a sea of thieves I wanted to share this story because it's probably the reason why I fell in love with this game. so I came across a decked out Galleon (probably experienced) ship asking for an alliance after I sold a Reaper Chest in The Reaper's Hideout. Before I tell you the story I need to tell you I have filled my sloop with chests and all manner of simple trinkets like reliquary's and whatnots and all of it is shown in the back of my sloop aboard the rowboat (it's for easy transport of chest so I wouldn't need to go back and forth from my ship) and then I got into a shipwreck and got my second reaper chest and headed to the Hideout and sell it off. So I sold the chest and got into my sloop so I can go to the nearest outpost so I can sell my stash and call it a day but then I was being spammed with "Let's form an Alliance" message me thinking I am already tired I just want to sell off my stuff and continue on my day maybe do my vault quest so I declined and sailed off. From the Hideout, I sailed south heading to Plunder Outpost so after I sell my stuff I can Plunder Outpost, and maybe while sailing thinks of heading to the Devil's Ridge where I can use my stone key and then I looked behind me and saw a galleon sailing the same direction at me and I thought this galleon might get my loot but of course, I might be wrong so to test if they are following me so I sailed east so I can just sell my loot off Ancient Spire Outpost because it's still nearer to the Devil's Ridge and I turned my wheel and fixed my sail and sailed off looking at the direction of the galleon and not to my surprised and painful realization that I might not live to sell my loot I saw the galleon turned and still following my sloop so there I was thinking of what I should do and do a bit of crude calculation in my head if I can sell my loot fast as I get to the outpost or try and outmaneuver them because I sure as hell can't fight them off I only have a small sloop with 2 cannons and one of me to operate not only the ship but also the cannon, fixing the ship and all that stuff so I need to think. So while thinking of a way to live through this I saw a beautiful island with a structure inside where I can sail into and get out of it on the other side without thinking I went with my guts and sailed to the Thieves' Haven. So there I was sailing making sure I can get the most of my speed and try to lose a lot of distance from me and the 4 crew galleon ship but even though I thought they we're so far at first they Immediately gained a lot of ground and I can almost feel their Figurehead poking through my ship and as I look forward I'm getting near the Haven and I can hear the galleon laughing amongst themselves might be thinking that they already cornered me but I need to just get in the northeast entrance pulled my mast to half-mast. The galleon is already at my tail nipping on it and shot a firebomb so hoping it would weaken my sloop and celebrating when I do it then as they enter as well full mast I turned to the west I crashed my ship in the bits of rocks and its structure but I got out and heard not only a huge crash and a huge cry of anger and then I saw what I hoped the galleon crashed headfirst into the inner structure of the island and me getting away with it with a scratch 2 holes from my ship and dealing with a small fire in my map room is easy to deal with but that huge crash of a galleon and also a narrow passageway inside the island they will not only take their time fixing their huge ship but also they need to deal with getting out of it so that already lost them distance from me and my loot as I head to Plunder Outpost and selling all of my loot and trinkets before they get to me. I never saw them again that day so I assume after the crash they probably didn't see me anymore since I already got into the outpost and also parked my ship in the north of the outpost so they wouldn't see my ship as they get out of the west end of the thieves haven. and that's how a lone sailer won against a galleon of 4 with no cannons just only my map. I love this experience so much I would probably post this at a Reddit somewhere XDD

Its intense because Drew makes great content his videos are always intense the game just has nothing to do its another let the people make their own fun with friends game and any game is more fun with friends. Doesnt excuse not having content.
Ryan Dollenmayer one could say the same thing about every multiplayer game created. SoT had plenty of content-more that most at launch that actually wasn’t locked behind a paywall. Yes the content here is intense, but so is every other encounter with dudes trying to sink your ship and steal your treasures.
A good 2 ship alliance strat (for taking the fort) that I use is to have one ship distract the people at the fort while the other ship does the fort gets the loot and sells it without the original ship that was there knowing

Hey! I'm sick too.! This game looks sociopolitical much better. It was pretty before, but the lighting and shadowing looks so good now. I also really like the smoke and fire effects now.

There's lots of looting... pvp is only a singular, sometimes very small part of the game. Where treasure hunting is a big part of it
