I typically just add a few inches worth of after run oil in my fuel line and then "prime" it through the engine, it's going to go anywhere the fuel would have gone.

I am glad to see that Racers are still recommending use of After Run Oil (ARO). There seems to be a lot of misconceptions about ARO usage these days. Current market day fuels seem to have better oil "packages", compared to 20 years ago but, I agree that ARO usage for longer storage, is still valuable activity. Thanks for sharing and taking the time to make the vid. 💜

I'm all in with nitro and it's only because of what you teach us as a whole and the second to none engine service you provide. Thanks Adam

My prefered method is to remove the backplate, and put some paper to constract remaining fuel. I put the engine with the rear down, to make every drop of fuel out of the engine. Then i coat it with after run oil. I put the front of the engine downwards, to let oil come into the front bearing to. I never put any oil in the carburator.I have experienced that oil can dry out, and clog the needles over time causing the engine not getting fuel, or lean out. I always do this prosedure at home after cleaning the car of course, not on the track.

I just pull the glow plug and put 5 drops in the cylinder and 6 drops in the carb then using a electric starter crank it over for about 10-15 seconds and buton it up for storage.

personally, as someone completely new to nitro, I took off the glow plug and sprayed a decent amount of WD-40 down the piston sleeve. I did the same for the carburetor. since I had killed all my glow plugs and had nothing to properly screw into the top of the engine, I coated a napkin in WD-40 and put it in the heatsink to stop anything from entering the engine.
I hope i'm doing SOMETHING correct, at least correct enough to not kill the engine.

Ive been told never remove the boot unless needed. Crazy how hard these things are to keep dirt out.

Adam, im new to nitro. All these posts you make have helped so much. Do you ever use brake clean on the head or for cleaning on these cars? Also, I thought you had said years ago if you don't have after run oil to use tri flow?

I personally think dropping oil into the piston is a bad idea. There is so much dirt in that area you can get dirt in your liner
I think about using a piece of fuel line onto the carb nipple and into the oil bottle and squeeze a bit of oil through the carb while turning the engine over . This would oil the entire engine unless anyone knows a reason Why that is a bad idea. I intend to do that with my new OS b2102 when my alpha finally dies. When I have used after run I usually remove the air filter and put a few drops into the Venturi
And turn it over but I obviously didn’t do it enough as my alpha has a small amount of rust on the back of the crank . I race every 2 weeks and just normally make
Sure the last tank runs dry the. Turn it over to make sure there is no fuel In there. I do only use sport fuel to be fair as it’s not easy to get fuel in the UK apart from optimix race blend

Adam, will the after run oil harm the silicon stuffing in the crank? The OS manual mentioned using only fuel or alcohol near the stuffing. OS also mentioned not putting after run oil down the carb body. I’m assuming that why you removed the head ?

I've been using it for many years without any problems.
