  • If you're considering whether you should work on day shift or night shift on a med surg unit, in this video I go over the practical differences between the two shifts.
I have a free mini-course to help new med-surg nurses get better at a very common frustrating challenge: Giving and getting report. It's called Nursing Report Basics for Med-Surg Nurses and it includes my fav med-surg report sheet and my top abbreviations I would use when taking report! Hi Kati, I’m a newly graduated RN starting a med/surg position in May. I’m so glad your channel exists, it feels like there’s an abundance of nursing school resources out there - but very little content on how to actually prepare for the job. Keep up the great work!

Great video. I’m a new grad starting med/surg nights and I’m so anxious about everything. This really helped me with a general idea of what to expect!

You've got this! I was so nervous too back when I started years ago. Check out episode 1 of my podcast (The FreshRN Podcast) for a detailed explanation of what to expect during orientation too - you might find it helpful and reassuring.
