He was a huge bust but I think Ryan Leaf was a bigger dissapointment because of who was chosen 1 pick before him. You couldn't have more different career paths than Ryan Leaf and Peyton Manning went on to have.
@@TripleDS I was a Chargers fan (until they left SD) but even if the Chargers DID end up with Manning they would have ruined his career. Eli was right to refuse to play for San Diego and demand a trade a few years later when they drafted him.
@@TheMoastWorst I’ve got a friend who’s also a Chargers fan (or at least was) he said the ownership has been horrible and it starts at the top, so I do believe you when you say they would’ve ruined Manning. He’s hopeful things can turnaround now with Harbaugh, I still think at best you guys are at least a year away.
I remember Jamarcus Russell was a 6'6, 290lb free agent in Madden 12. I had a few different seasons where I'd pick him up and convert him to OL, DE, and TE. Don't remember how the OL season went, he was cut after one awful DE season, but I made him a legendary TE who played for years. Always a funny memory lol. Sometimes I wonder what would've happened if they let him keep the weight and taught him to go out for passes and block. But it he really wanted to play, after years of being out, he should've written those letters to the CFL or the XFL, or whoever was around the time, to prove he could actually do it.
What tops Russell over Leaf for me is that no team ever gave him a second chance because of how bad he was. Leaf played for the Cowboys and signed and never played with the Buccaneers and Seahawks.
Nobody ever agrees with me on this so I know I'm the outlier, but just from the eye test Tim Tebow was like legit the worst quarterback I ever watched and technically only completed 46.5 of his passes. I know he won games and even a playoff game but his defense carried him.
Here is the truth about his comeback that people missed. Jeff Garcia actually was doing a great job of making him marketable, and he was back in conversations for a comeback, but he had won a $3M settlement and he basically gave up on Jeff and he ended his bid for a comeback when he got a bag. Leaf I give a pass, because Leaf actually gave a damn about the game, he just wasnt able to play at the expectation. Russell only cared about money and didnt give a damn about being good or bad, Leaf broke down mentally and had no one to uplift him, but he was atleast trying.
He probably could have been decent or a little bit better than he actually was but I think his biggest or main problem was that he was just very lazy. What also didn't help either is that from the moment he was drafted, no one in the Raiders organization wanted him except for Al Davis, who was still the boss at the time. In some ways I don't blame JaMarcus Russell for being lazy or just not really caring from during his time with the Raiders because he was pretty much never wanted there in the first place except by Al Davis
Being a Raiders fan, I sadly sadly remember Charlie Frye. Im breaking out my Minshew mania sleeveless tees this year brother!!! Matching shades and all
You let him off to lightly he's a pro the team is paying him millions to show up ready and prepared. Why would he lie about watching film it just shows he didn't care about the team. If you watched him play he couldn't even pitch a ball a couple yards. He caused his oulwn issues and ended up broke because of himself.
Is Jamarcus Russell the BIGGEST Bust of ALL-TIME?

Johnny Manziel was a bigger bust.

Jamarcus Russell ate his way out of the NFL
