I think the biggest thing that's overlooked is that Krillin and Goku are both great Martial Artists. Krillin is smart enough to use some creative techniques such as Krillin could use the Solar Flare on Raditz blinding him. Then either himself OR Goku could grap Raditz tail. From there it'd be pretty trivial to Coup De Grace Raditz.
Problem. Goku releasing Raditz' tail. If that happens in some shape or form they are both dead as the likelyhood of them regrabbing his tail is small. Unless Krillin is the one grabbing the tail. Plus Krillin could floored in a single hit and be rendered useless.
Having the other Z fighters experience the battle with Raditz firsthand would have greatly improved their training for the other Saiyans because they all would know how much of a threat they would be facing and train that much harder preferably as a team. Also, having the added help might keep Goku alive, but ultimately doom them all without his training from King Kai.

7:20 Yeah the tail thing won't work entirely as in the manga Raditz was feigning being unable to move, he could cut off his tail at any time and planned to do to catch them off guard. That's why Goku let's his tail go and then the second time doesn't grab his tail again but instead grabs his body still, there is a panel where Goku calls out that Raditz could do that and he replies "You knew?!"
Raditz could simply cut off his tail People often overlook this detail. Both Raditz himself and even Goku confirmed that this was a viable option for him to escape, even if Goku didn't release the tail Raditz could escape still.
This is why I'm excited for this story mode. I feel the player will have more agency for the choices they make and the results from that. This is pretty fun. Nice job analyzing this, can't believe someone already is looking into this story lol

It's bugged me for my whole life that the z fighters didn't make better plans against Raditz/Nappa like using the solar flare paired with cutting/piercing blasts. Vegeta was so much stronger, faster, and smarter but the other two were definitely in the realm of possibility to be lucksacked that way.
I'd say its much more likely that Raditz really underestimated the Destructo Disk and would just tank it like Nappa was about to. After all, he already took Krillin down with his tail. Picollo was at least strong enough to be considered a possible threat.
tbh, the only way the scenario could work out is when u finish the round with radtiz, we get a cutscene where then piccolo comes in and helps you as goku and then try to beat the shit out of raditz but then starting afking a bit to charge his stupid laser beam aka special beam toy adventure 2 amongus.
Krillin could literally just do 100% what he does to Goku in the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament. Shoot a kamehameha at his face, and use the distraction to grab his tail, then finish him from there. Krillin has the distinct advantage of having specific strategies formulated for dealing with a tailed saiyan who's much stronger than him. Once he's holding the tail, even a standard ki blast from his off hand should be able to finish off Raditz.
Krillin’s got a bag of tricks up his sleeve, and if we’re going off Akira’s writing - he writes Krillin in a way where he gains the respect of others through his crafty style and pulling the rug out from others who underestimate him. I think the reason Krillin wouldn’t get killed off immediately is that Raditz would belittle him but Krillin would have learnt the Solar flare at least by now, so a well timed combo with Goku could lead to some damage on Raditz

So Goku and Krillin go after Radditz, and they DO try to Destructo disc just after Gohan rages and slams into Radditz - but Radditz does dodge it with relative ease - only to be instantly caught into Roshi's thundershock surprise and pierced by a special beam canon seconds later. So yeah, I would say you nailed this scenario. Goku and Krillin had to use the Destructo disc as their only option to win the fight - but it failed. And as you said - just because Goku didn't agree to go with Piccolo, didn't mean Piccolo just stood there - he just partnered up with Roshi and came anywyay. (I'll assume Piccolo was charging the special beam canon of screen during Goku's fight - Radditz can't sense power levels so he could have hidden himself, and when the beam was ready - Roshi went for the Thundershock surprise to make sure Piccolo hits)

If gokus Kamehameha was around 900 it could be assumed that krillin would be 750 - 800. Damaging him enough to wound him but I don't think it would kill him. But if goku still let's go of the tail and krillin misses then gohan would have to play out the same way but still. Even if goku full Nelson's raditz to hold him back the Kamehameha isn't killing raditz. It would have to be a distructo disk (which we could assume krillin is developing during the 5 years between DragonBall and z) so an undeveloped distructo disk would cut both raditz and goku in half. Problem with that is morally krillin would not be able to kill goku. So if piccolo does not jump in goku and krillin would likely lose
Another option for Krillin besides Goku grabbing Raditz's tail: use the solar flare to blind him. Solar flare is such an underrated and under-utilised attack, especially later in DBZ.
They would have to appear later on in the fight and wait in ambush. Raditz would use the scouter to notice people and they could hide their power or he would dismiss them entirely, not knowing that people can magnify their power. It would be easy to surprise Raditz. Tenshinhan could fire off Kikohos to knock Raditz to the ground and get his tail grabbed. Krillin uses a Taiyoken to stun Raditz or distract while Tenshinhan is way above and waiting.
Krillin could use the Solar Flare to blind Raditz, Goku either Full-Nelson's him, or grab his tail. Raditz can't sense power, nor would he be able to see Krillin's power level so he wouldn't percieve him as a threat and then Krillin tosses a Destructo Disk. It could kill Goku and Raditz so Goku can still go off to King Kai's.
it's certainly interesting. I was thinking maybe he could use the taiyoken to blind Raditz and give them an opening to attack him even though Krillin doesn't use the technique for the first time until Namek against Dodoria. You are right though that ultimately Piccolo isn't going to stand by and will join the battle to make them play out the events of the story. Krillin being there would give them a little more fire power for sure though.
Two things a double solar flare from Krillin and Goku. Either destroy Raditz right there with a combined Kamehameha or Krillin grabs his tail and Goku finishes the job.
I think the only thing working in Krillin's favor is that he MIGHT know the Solar flare. It is a pretty low cost and simple technique that remains useful regardless of how outclassed the user is compared to the enemy - as long as the enemy has eyes of course. The solar flare also becomes exponentially more useful against an enemy that can't sense Ki - which is every enemy up till Cell. Plus we should also remember that even with the strongest duo of Goku and Piccolo, they would have still lost if not for Gohan's attack on Raditz which is one of the few things that actually significantly damaged him. So Goku and Krillin might still have a chance - a lower one, but still a chance. Krillin might even be able to talk Goku out of letting go of Raditz's tail since Goku at this point, would trust Krillin more than Piccolo.
can you do a what if yamcha,tien,chaitzou,and piccolo went to namek with gohan krillin and bulma or what if gohan,goten,trunks,and piccolo were saved instead of hercule and dende or what if nail helped gohan vegeta and krillin against the ginyu force?
even picollo and goku were almost children in front of raditz raditz played with them and took pleasure in torturing goku, and the moment he got serious, gohan went berserk and attacked him, severely diminishing his strength to the point of allowing goku to hold him back while picollo charged his attack. the original plan wasn't a fair fight between picollo/goku against raditz, the plan was to find a way to grab raditz's tail to weaken him and even this plan goku admitted that raditz could cut off his tail if need be so the only reason goku and picollo had a chance was because raditz was playing with them and the enraged gohan attack seriously injured raditz to give them an opportunity. without gohan, they would have died even with reinforcements like krilin, tenshihan and yamsha.
Haven't watched the video yet, but inclusion of Krillin will just be helpful enough to rip off Raditz tail (with the use of solar flare or kienzan). They won't be able to kill him, and Goku will die eventually either by the hands of Raditz or Piccolo's Makankosappo at some point. Krillin dying together won't make any sense and Piccolo will do what he did in original. Edit: I forgot to mention that Krillin didn't have any kienzan so, Taioken is the only way to rip off Raditz tail by blinding him. Even if Krillin had kienzan due to some weird magical plot crap, it will be a much weaker and much much MUCH less sharp or refined
I mean, Tien also has the Evil Containment wave. But, here is an alternate for you Tien goes with Goku, Goku grabs Raditz' tail. Tien massivly pumps a Tri beam, ending all 3 of them. Now Tien and Goku go to King Kai's place.
Actually I'd like to suggest a few things Firstly it's possible for Goku or krillin to use the solar flare and then the destruction disc And you may ask why they would use this and if they even know it Goku manages to use it after king kais implying he wasn't taught it but decided to use it on ape Vegeta Also It's possible Raditz like nappa would be cocky and think they can take the disc and not realize soon enough even with the scouter as the disc is sharpness is what makes it deadlier then it actually being stronger then the opponent Also for Tien him jumping his power up to 1000 or 1500 or anything like that would be far less taxing then him jumping his power up from saibamen level being in that 1000 range and trying to jump it up multiple thousands to injured nappa who was at 4,000 to 5,000 Also Gohan is still very likely to hit a shocked Raditz like in the original All Raditz has to do is start torturing Goku like in the original and Gohan will snap and do some damage And Raditz is still unlikely to dodge it just like in the original because he was shocked and Gohan was probably moving too fast which is why Raditz just let Gohan hit him because he couldn't react fast enough
It's really funny to ignore the Goku and Krillin part of this what if and focus on Piccolo Piccolo swallows his pride to ask Goku to team up, Goku says nah I got this and Piccolo just... stands there like ok I'd like to imagine Piccolo just chilling with Roshi and Bulma (IK it's not in character but it's a funny mental image)
Good what if. Surprised no one has covered it before that I've seen because it's the start of Z and it is a bit of a weird premise to trust an enemy and leave allies behind.. I Think Goku + Krillin would work together a lot better and with the techniques (disc/solar flare) they got I think they could of pulled off the win but maybe Krillin would die instead of Goku; leading to even bigger disaster down the road.
I think the no piccolo thing would make more sense if raditz took him out before going to goku. It's more believable than goku saying "no thanks" and piccolo just shrugging and staying out of it.
They would’ve both died honestly … only scenario where they would have a sliver of a chance if is there is a solar flare/ destructo disc combo and even that i dont think would’ve worked
Hey Qaaman what do you think were the purpose of the insulator pods to the saiyan babies in dbs broly and db minus? Could it be a reason why Vegeta and Goku are superior genetically compared to other saiyans who died in planet vegeta? Also it is implied that Goku spent more time in the pods compared any other Saiyan and he proved himself to be stronger than Vegeta.
It feels bad talking about what Toriyama would or would not have done now that he is gone, but I'm doing it anyway... I think that if he wanted Kuririn to join the fight, he would have given him the Kienzan or some other technique, they can always say to have been training off-screen anyway. So I do not see a trouble on that technique showing early. I think Toriyama could have come up with a different technique entirely if he so wanted, and that would be what we consider realistic. Let us leave that rest, and watch What If LAUNCH Was Still Around? again instead.

krillin uses solar flare then hits raditz with a point blank kamehameha while goku holds onto his tail, raditz gets weakened by the blast while goku charges his own kamehameha but instead of aiming it at raditz he aims it at the ground to propel himself upwards, then hits a distracted raditz with the penetrate! super move, killing him
So Krillin shouldn't have the Destructo Disk at this point in the story from what I can tell as he learns it with the Kami training to prpare for Vegeta/Napa. But my prediction for the video game is Gohan headbutts Raditz weakening him, then Goku puts Raditz in the full Nelson, and the Krillin Destructo Disks both Goku and Raditz at the same time, killing them both.
My what if raditz became good story would start by gohan doing the headbutt to raditz which drastically weaken him then goku use Kamehameha piccolo uses strongest ki blast to knock him out. Raditz then wake ups and realize he doesn't want to work to with vegeta and nappa anymore because they keep calling him weak and vegeta threaten to kill him if he screw up again.
I always wonder what goku would of said to raditz in the otherworld maybe to go with him to king kai and train. Goku was looking for raditz but yemma put raditz somewhere.
I'm pretty sure that everyone but Frieza just copied Krillin's destructo disk. And even Frieza is a maybe. Also, no mention of the solar flare? That's HUGE. And even if Goku and Krillin died, Piccolo probably would have been hiding, charging the Makankosappo to cheap shot Raditz as soon as they died. End result is that Krillin gets training from King Kai too. Goku would probably be a bit weaker, and either they both arrive on time, or Krillin arrives to help mid-Vegeta fight.
If goku survives the fight against raditz then I think the z fighter will be a lot stronger than they were originally, the help and advice from goku, and gohan getting training from master roshi,goku, and Kami will give gohan a lot of confidence in the fight against the saiyans and make him a lot stronger. The stronger z fighters like piccolo and goku can go to the time chamber to train in there, not as long cuz their not as strong but long enough for them to get multiple times stronger.
Krillen is an incredibly intelligent fighter. Going back to the previous arc, he was able to put up a better fight against a Piccolo who wanted to hurt him than Tien was able to put up against a Goku who was screwing around the whole time. Add to that the fact that Goku and Krillen work together much better than Goku and Piccolo, and I think this fight goes much better than you're expecting
If krillen was der and he used the destructo disc on raditz and it worked on him den the z fighters wouldn't be prepared for the sayains remember raditz told goku and piccolo dat there are two more sayains stronger than him, so if krillen used that technique on raditz then the z fighters would be screwed

Raditz would use the scouter to notice people and they could hide their power or he would dismiss them entirely, not knowing that people can magnify their power. It would be easy to surprise Raditz. Tenshinhan could fire off Kikohos to knock Raditz to the ground and get his tail grabbed. Krillin uses a Taiyoken to stun Raditz or distract while Tenshinhan is way above and waiting.
Krillin could use the Solar Flare to blind Raditz, Goku either Full-Nelson's him, or grab his tail.
Raditz can't sense power, nor would he be able to see Krillin's power level so he wouldn't percieve him as a threat and then Krillin tosses a Destructo Disk. It could kill Goku and Raditz so Goku can still go off to King Kai's.

it's certainly interesting. I was thinking maybe he could use the taiyoken to blind Raditz and give them an opening to attack him even though Krillin doesn't use the technique for the first time until Namek against Dodoria. You are right though that ultimately Piccolo isn't going to stand by and will join the battle to make them play out the events of the story. Krillin being there would give them a little more fire power for sure though.

Two things a double solar flare from Krillin and Goku. Either destroy Raditz right there with a combined Kamehameha or Krillin grabs his tail and Goku finishes the job.

I think the only thing working in Krillin's favor is that he MIGHT know the Solar flare. It is a pretty low cost and simple technique that remains useful regardless of how outclassed the user is compared to the enemy - as long as the enemy has eyes of course. The solar flare also becomes exponentially more useful against an enemy that can't sense Ki - which is every enemy up till Cell. Plus we should also remember that even with the strongest duo of Goku and Piccolo, they would have still lost if not for Gohan's attack on Raditz which is one of the few things that actually significantly damaged him. So Goku and Krillin might still have a chance - a lower one, but still a chance. Krillin might even be able to talk Goku out of letting go of Raditz's tail since Goku at this point, would trust Krillin more than Piccolo.

raditz played with them and took pleasure in torturing goku, and the moment he got serious, gohan went berserk and attacked him, severely diminishing his strength to the point of allowing goku to hold him back while picollo charged his attack.
the original plan wasn't a fair fight between picollo/goku against raditz, the plan was to find a way to grab raditz's tail to weaken him and even this plan goku admitted that raditz could cut off his tail if need be
so the only reason goku and picollo had a chance was because raditz was playing with them and the enraged gohan attack seriously injured raditz to give them an opportunity.
without gohan, they would have died even with reinforcements like krilin, tenshihan and yamsha.

Haven't watched the video yet, but inclusion of Krillin will just be helpful enough to rip off Raditz tail (with the use of solar flare or kienzan). They won't be able to kill him, and Goku will die eventually either by the hands of Raditz or Piccolo's Makankosappo at some point. Krillin dying together won't make any sense and Piccolo will do what he did in original.
Edit: I forgot to mention that Krillin didn't have any kienzan so, Taioken is the only way to rip off Raditz tail by blinding him. Even if Krillin had kienzan due to some weird magical plot crap, it will be a much weaker and much much MUCH less sharp or refined

I mean, Tien also has the Evil Containment wave. But, here is an alternate for you Tien goes with Goku, Goku grabs Raditz' tail. Tien massivly pumps a Tri beam, ending all 3 of them. Now Tien and Goku go to King Kai's place.
Actually I'd like to suggest a few things
Firstly it's possible for Goku or krillin to use the solar flare and then the destruction disc
And you may ask why they would use this and if they even know it
Goku manages to use it after king kais implying he wasn't taught it but decided to use it on ape Vegeta
Also It's possible Raditz like nappa would be cocky and think they can take the disc and not realize soon enough even with the scouter as the disc is sharpness is what makes it deadlier then it actually being stronger then the opponent
Also for Tien him jumping his power up to 1000 or 1500 or anything like that would be far less taxing then him jumping his power up from saibamen level being in that 1000 range and trying to jump it up multiple thousands to injured nappa who was at 4,000 to 5,000
Also Gohan is still very likely to hit a shocked Raditz like in the original
All Raditz has to do is start torturing Goku like in the original and Gohan will snap and do some damage
And Raditz is still unlikely to dodge it just like in the original because he was shocked and Gohan was probably moving too fast which is why Raditz just let Gohan hit him because he couldn't react fast enough

Good what if. Surprised no one has covered it before that I've seen because it's the start of Z and it is a bit of a weird premise to trust an enemy and leave allies behind..
I Think Goku + Krillin would work together a lot better and with the techniques (disc/solar flare) they got I think they could of pulled off the win but maybe Krillin would die instead of Goku; leading to even bigger disaster down the road.
I think the no piccolo thing would make more sense if raditz took him out before going to goku. It's more believable than goku saying "no thanks" and piccolo just shrugging and staying out of it.
They would’ve both died honestly … only scenario where they would have a sliver of a chance if is there is a solar flare/ destructo disc combo and even that i dont think would’ve worked

Hey Qaaman what do you think were the purpose of the insulator pods to the saiyan babies in dbs broly and db minus? Could it be a reason why Vegeta and Goku are superior genetically compared to other saiyans who died in planet vegeta? Also it is implied that Goku spent more time in the pods compared any other Saiyan and he proved himself to be stronger than Vegeta.
It feels bad talking about what Toriyama would or would not have done now that he is gone, but I'm doing it anyway... I think that if he wanted Kuririn to join the fight, he would have given him the Kienzan or some other technique, they can always say to have been training off-screen anyway. So I do not see a trouble on that technique showing early. I think Toriyama could have come up with a different technique entirely if he so wanted, and that would be what we consider realistic. Let us leave that rest, and watch What If LAUNCH Was Still Around? again instead.

Not really. After the introduction of super saiyan, putting a minimum X50 gap between saiyans and non saiyans. Teamwork was useless, sure.

So Krillin shouldn't have the Destructo Disk at this point in the story from what I can tell as he learns it with the Kami training to prpare for Vegeta/Napa. But my prediction for the video game is Gohan headbutts Raditz weakening him, then Goku puts Raditz in the full Nelson, and the Krillin Destructo Disks both Goku and Raditz at the same time, killing them both.

My what if raditz became good story would start by gohan doing the headbutt to raditz which drastically weaken him then goku use Kamehameha piccolo uses strongest ki blast to knock him out. Raditz then wake ups and realize he doesn't want to work to with vegeta and nappa anymore because they keep calling him weak and vegeta threaten to kill him if he screw up again.
I always wonder what goku would of said to raditz in the otherworld maybe to go with him to king kai and train. Goku was looking for raditz but yemma put raditz somewhere.

I'm pretty sure that everyone but Frieza just copied Krillin's destructo disk. And even Frieza is a maybe.
Also, no mention of the solar flare? That's HUGE.
And even if Goku and Krillin died, Piccolo probably would have been hiding, charging the Makankosappo to cheap shot Raditz as soon as they died. End result is that Krillin gets training from King Kai too. Goku would probably be a bit weaker, and either they both arrive on time, or Krillin arrives to help mid-Vegeta fight.
What if future Gohan was wished back and Bulma removed the bomb from 18 instead?
If goku survives the fight against raditz then I think the z fighter will be a lot stronger than they were originally, the help and advice from goku, and gohan getting training from master roshi,goku, and Kami will give gohan a lot of confidence in the fight against the saiyans and make him a lot stronger. The stronger z fighters like piccolo and goku can go to the time chamber to train in there, not as long cuz their not as strong but long enough for them to get multiple times stronger.

Krillen is an incredibly intelligent fighter. Going back to the previous arc, he was able to put up a better fight against a Piccolo who wanted to hurt him than Tien was able to put up against a Goku who was screwing around the whole time. Add to that the fact that Goku and Krillen work together much better than Goku and Piccolo, and I think this fight goes much better than you're expecting
If krillen was der and he used the destructo disc on raditz and it worked on him den the z fighters wouldn't be prepared for the sayains remember raditz told goku and piccolo dat there are two more sayains stronger than him, so if krillen used that technique on raditz then the z fighters would be screwed
Basically every what if scenario is a negative outcome on the overall story.
Haven't watched yet but realistically Raditz would make both of them oil up, Raditz is getting an easy stomp
