My dad, age 18, partying with friends and dancing with the girls to glen miller, benny Goodman, Jack Teagarden, harry James. two years later, a lot of those kids were on their way to war, some to oblivion. This is the music of the greatest generation.
I have always thought Glenn Miller was the best of the big bands. Great musicians playing wonderful arrangements. Now I love to see all these pictures many fo the first time. Thank you Ralf. I'll be listening to this!
We played this song at my moms funeral service. Ooh mom I miss you and dad. I remember how you two loved to Dance!! Now your Dancing in Heaven. I pray God let’s you come get me with Jesus when my time comes. God willing
I grew up in New Rochelle, and I still occasionally visit the original site of Glen Island Casino - the old building was rebuilt and it continues to function now, as a catering call and event space - I played a wedding with a jazz group there around 2019 (drummer). I still occasionally visit the spot in the night, under the light of the moon, to trimming about the glory days of the Big Band Era, real music with real singing and great melodies drove people onto the Dancefloor and washed away the misery of wartime.
Great music in a very unique era, when the time was beautiful...I was born in 1960 but I would like to live that epoque, that music was spectacular...!!!
Simply put, this is a great video. You've done an excellent job of it. A mesmerizing time travel adventure back to when popular music was so very wonderful.
One of the most significant elements of that remarkable period in American history called pre war was the Glenn Miller Orchestra . It was beautiful then as it still is, today.

I was born in the 1950's and big band music was still being played on the radio then. Then I remember watching The Glenn Miller Story on TV one Christmas, that was it, I've been hooked ever since!!
I feel Glenn Miller reborn by myself ! I am the Glenn Miller in South Korea who reborn again by the name of Lee Joonmyung(Robert Lee:English name 63years old man still handsome again)
+The Miller sound combination, though used by other orchestras, was a combination of sax and clarinet. The difference was in the arrangements penned either by Mr. Miller himself or other arrangers. The arrangements were aimed at the general population of the country, rather than only the jazz fans. Glenn Miller himself said the Glenn Miller Orchestra was not a jazz band. He considered it an entertainment orchestra, and his sales and popularity showed its appeal
Although there were a few changes early on and only just a couple later on, the band's personnel remained remarkably inatact for most of its existance. Ray Anthony left in 1941, along with Trigger Alpert, who I think, was drafted. Hal McIntyre left toform his own band, replaced by Skip Martin
Great music buy WAY too much echo!!! The "Stereo" effect here is made with an electronic echo chamber and is not at all true stereo sound. Real stereo had two distinct channels but here we only have one channel. I have heard a stereo effect by playing the same music from two sources and using two speakers. It's really not stereo but it does spread the sound out better. I suspect there are electronic sync devices out there these days that will give this effect without the echo effect.
It’s too heavy with the contemporary reverb & delay - unnecessary & detracts from the natural sound of the old recordings - otherwise, it’s good old stuff
An era of actual music, lyrics that can be understood, talented musicians and ballroom dancing gone forever but not forgotten.

Ralf Siebert moonlight serenade and The Lady’s in love with you. Is one my dad loved to sing
Absolutely superb musicians playing fantastic music. They all look so smart too, suits, ties, cotton hankies and polished shoes so professional.

Замечательные фотографии талантливых людей. Красивые, одухотворённые лица музыкантов и вокалистов.

been entranced by this stuff since I was ten back in 1971... and never looked back.

I was about the same age. I heard a band playing "In the Mood" at an airshow, and I was hooked!
Remember listening to the BBC Broadcast of the US Army Airforce Band from Bedford in 1944. The the next Concert from Paris......

Glenn Miller, however, only lived to be 40, not 63. 😁
Ohh you don't know what this record is caused in my soul. The pictures are also awesome. I am grateful, thank you Ralf
Thanks for the post. It's a real pleasure for me to get to listen to this.
I'm gonna listen to this on July 20, 2039 at 5:15-5:30 just to say I can
definitely gonna do that too
Amen.
All of it is just wonderful!
Dad was a huge fan and I caught big band fever early and even played trombone. Or, as Fats Waller said, from hook e.
I would hit the Worlds Fair in Queens before going to this show, if I could get a day in my choice of time. 7-20-1939
an incredible sax background
tex beneke - great sax and brilliant vocals

Yes Trigger Alpert was drafted.
I think Marion Hutton was only 20 years old in 1939......
Yes, she was! Born March 10, 1919.

It's not true stereo...a lot of reverb added. Notice: He didn't answer your question.
@@douglasgerbino4591correct - it’s really drenched in unnecessary and irritating effects.
