Exactly - i didn't come here to see him score the tries that most professional players could - although i doubt many could make the try he did against NZ at around the 11:30 mark. I came to see him twist and thump bodies around at the breakdown - that's where he won matches
Burger had all the attributes necessary to be one of the all time greats and admired by rugby fans across the globe; instead, his own indiscipline and questionable antics separate him from that pantheon. He brought a different dimension of aggression to the game but was seemingly unable to control his darker side that had to go beyond all recognised boundaries of fair play. Ultimately, instead of being able to applaud all he brought to the game, most independent fans I know are disappointed by his lack of character.
Fair comment, but I think we know very different people. Rugby fans I know adore him and mostly think he is one of the great Springboks. Interesting how opinions differ
@@RealRugby - thank you for your courteous reply - too often when people disagree with you online the vitriol pours out. I’m assuming that you’re from the southern hemisphere and most likely a “Saffa”; I’m European and I think this is likely the reason we disagree. I can understand why South Africans would rally around a totemic figure like Burger but for the majority of rugby fans I have spoken to both at home and on my travels, Burger became the man we all loved to hate because of the negative side of his game and character. I should maybe revise that to “on-field character”, because I’ve never met the guy, and am therefore not in any position to judge him, but I get the impression that he enjoyed being the pantomime villain. I’m in my sixth decade and have watched rugby now for 40-odd years. I’ve seen some truly hard characters gracing the game in my time but they didn’t seem to need to play the way Burger did on too many occasions. Regards 🙏
At 05:46 Bakkies Botha manhandles Richie McCaw like a rag doll.
😂😂
Die beste no 6 wat nog ooit vir die Springbokke gespeel het...en een van die bestes ooit!! Wat n legende..

5:04 the enforcer doing his duty
This guy was something else. Fast and furious full 80 mins.
When he started playing for the springboks he was like a loose cannon, but the years went by and he matured, even became captain.
True but also shows his contribution to score on the board as well. Well done neef...wens jy kon Langer hou
favorite Springbok of all time, no1 plays the blindside flank like him
Great player! One of my favourites
One of the best ever.
5:47 LOL, poor Richie
The funniest thing I seen today
the funniest thing is he didn't retaliate, he knew that would cause a shit storm he cant handle
@@penkop-tp3zw You're right. He just concentrated on what he was there to do. Play rugby. And win. And win they did.....again!!
Notice he didn't fancy it with Jerry Collins tho?.....

my favourite kind of Burger
Finally, Thank You so much.
Cheers mate
Hy was die beste SPELER in sy tyd in sy posisie
Why show tries? His biggest contribution to the game was off the ball and away from the try line. A legend even after his comeback.

El mejor.hoy tiene un lugar en los boks
Love the channel but if you could please include (superimpose) the year on the excerpts, it'd be great - cheers.

Rated by most All Blacks of that era as their toughest player/opponent , that says heaps!
I think everyone can agree his aggression and passion galvanised his team mates
Oh please look at your own pathetic character. If you dont like contact sports go play with your dolls.
