Hey, look. She's finally had enough of the Mushroom Heads' s***.
Key Notes:
WARNING: Just so you know, another boss battle will follow after this one, so equip the best stuff before this one starts.
Boss: Princess Shroob - 3000 (1700) HP
Power: 120 (180)
Defense: 130
Speed: 60 (120)
The international versions severely reduce her HP due to the fact she's a barrier boss... Sorry, Americans, but we're left with the hardest version (unless outsiders don't mind the huge boost in power and speed she gets anyway...)
Okay, about that barrier, the color it has represents which brother should attack it. However, instead of hopelessly chipping the barrier away in a row of turns, you can use Copy Flowers to take it down in one go.
Your evil majesty has orb attacks that have a high chance of poisoning the brothers.
After depleting her HP down by a half, she gets madder and gains slight boosts everywhere, along with the chance of attacking more times in a single turn.

Princess Shroob is such an underrated mario villain. I really wish that she appears in more Mario games. Besides Dark Bowser, Shroob is one of my favorite characters from the Mario & Luigi series.
I love how she menacingly teleports around when attacking, but then you return that sphere with the hammer and she gets bonked out of the air.

The young princess Shroob is very strong and independent!
She clearly stands on her own, is a supreme leader of the shroobs.
Not like her big sis, it's embarrassing that she used the help of her minions to do anything.
Imagine if she activated her crown, however...
It would be an interesting battle

@@mistermusic43 yeah I was such a bad player lol I avoided all the enemies so it would take me months to beat this boss… I basically had to learn all her moves perfectly coz a single hit would’ve killed me instantly
What's funny is that any video of the princess shroob battle uploaded in the year 2014 or earlier will have the force field looking messed up, because youtube converted all videos to 30 fps.
I thought it was because they were all done on unofficial emulators?
@@AuraChannelerChris Nope. When I actually play on the emulator, the force field looks right. When I play the video on my computer, it also looks right. It only looks wrong on youtube in 30 fps.
This battle has to be one of the most fun semi final battles EVER in the M&L series, how I wish we could have seen how insane it could look in a remake :(
For some reason, I always thought of princess shroob's voice being similar to frieza's.

I remember beating this and finishing the game felt awful I didn't want it to end and that was the bad thing about the game
You know, I've had nightmares about Princess Shroob when I was a kid back in the year before I was born. I was out in the plain grasslands and then along came a purple mushroom with a dark pink dress. She tried to chase me with her purple mushroom alien minions. They tried to get me but there was a dead end and I fell down into this dark place. I couldn't think, speak, or breathe. And this got even worse. The Elder Princess Shroob came and roared and screamed at me and then I woke up & it was all just a terrible dream. It was horrible!

This is not the first comment I’ve seen about this game giving people nightmares as a kid, in fact I’ve seen several! It makes sense though, this game is pretty dark and creepy

Honestly, I beg to differ about the US version being harder. Sure, her HP is higher, but she doesn't hit nearly as hard, so it's more of an endurance test than what we got, which was quicker, but was incredibly strong. And don't even get me started on her big sister.
Sooo it's worse in different ways.
Yeah, it makes it a wholly different fight. A shorter battle overall, but she can do much more with that extra 40-50 Power. At least she doesn't get a Defence buff too like Elder does.
Fun fact: Killer Queen from Deltarune is a Princess Shroob ripoff (but Deltarune still is an amazing game), in fact when I saw her for the first time the first think I thought was Princess Shroob from Mario & Luigi
I think the term rip-off is a bit strong in this case. Homage would probably the more appropriate term.

Yeah I'm a fan of the m&l series and undertale/deltarune it was cool to see how similar the deltarune queen was to this princess shroob fight

when i did this fight as a kid i was extremely underleveled and it was a fight for my life

What does the text 1:45 say? I used the Shroob alphabet which phonetically says: Eyjahuf! Aj means destry
It's gibberish, there never is an official shroob alphabet outside of some specific lines like "Destroy" which is used often.
This enemy Is one of the most difficult in the mario saga
I swear, when she goes into that berserk phase, she gets so many attacks it's not even funny! One time, she got like 20 something attacks off before my next turn! I was like: "Geez! Stop already, just give me my turn!"

Bowser X is a bonus boss.
Midbus may apply, though.
I didn't struggle too much with Blizzard Midbus, but the Fawful Express was the hardest non-optional boss of Bowser's Inside Story.

I second this. Not like I always lost in the sense of losing all my hp, just couldn't destroy the train in time. I think it's the only battle I ever used retry clocks on
@@ol.2488 I don't think I ever really lost to the Fawful Express except once or twice... and that was because it was more so due to the DS not registering my blowing correctly.

i beat the boss at level 100
i used only jumps and it died in 2-3 turns

The Princess Shroob sucks in particular. Do you want to know how long this fight takes me? Twenty minutes at minimum, and this is assuming I do this all in one attempt. I beat this boss while at level 23, so imagine having to do it all over again.
I didn't really start using Bros Items until the latter half of the game because that's when you start getting the really useful Bros Items, and the first few Bros Items kind of suck, and even then, it's not like it'll be super useful if I have a 75 percent chance of screwing up an input with something of which I have a limited quantity. Granted, at this point, I had a lot because I wasn't really using them for the former half of the game, but the only way you'll be able to keep more Bros Items is if you get the Ulti-Free Badge from Fawful, which costs 90 beans.
And worse, you don't even get experience for it. You realize there's one more fight after this, right? I could really use the stat boost, because I've been struggling throughout this game. I know I'm underleveled because I've been going throughout most of the game feeling like I either A) don't do enough danage, B) can't take a hit, or C) don't have enough HP to survive for a while, and as I've stated, I beat this boss at level 23.
Yeeeah, level 23 is a bit low.

Like I said, I've been going throughout most of the game feeling like I don't do enough damage, can't take a hit, or don't have enough HP to survive for a while. Oh, and Elder Princess Shroob is level 31. Do you want to know how much EXP you need to reach level 31? The low to mid 50,000s range (50,902 EXP for the adults and 53,374 EXP for the babies).
Guess how much EXP I had. My EXP was in the low 20,000s range, which seems like a lot, but is SO much less. According to this game's level up progression chart, this much EXP nets me a level of, I kid you not, 23. I'm not sure how something like this even happens. I may not have fought enemies for an entire area or something, or I didn't bother to grind. Me being underleveled is the real reason I've been struggling throughout this game.
Why this game didn’t get a 3ds remake?
Because it's mechanically harder to play than even Paper Jam, which tried to include Paper Luigi but the devs thought controlling four brothers with four buttons would be too much.
@@AuraChannelerChris only tandem mechanics are a bit hard, when jumping/using hammer/dodging you only have to use 2 buttons, and if the developers think this game is too hard (it is but not too much) they can just nerf the enemies
