Saskue wouldn't have left if the snaked pedo never gave him the course mark which stated to amplify a person hate and itachi going overboard with genjustu and when saskue fought itachi he was going to not for revenge but to desperately save naruto from itachi which he said while heading over there

The final fight between them in part 1 basically encapsulates how they keep trying to one up one another.
Though part 2 Sasuke was way far ahead with how little Naruto actually learned with jariya compared to Sakura and Sasuke
Pre time skip Naruto and Sasuke have the best rivalry in anime history, IMO. I haven't watched every anime obv. But from what i HAVE watched. Nothing tops that brother in arms bond that those two shared.

Gods I forgot how good Naruto before Shippuden was goated. This just reminds me of why I did in fact watch through the 100 episode marathon on Cartoon Network
I love their dynamic much more in the original compared to Shippuden. And I found Sasuke way more likable in the original .

I wish we saw just a little bit more of that rivalry in Part 1 before Sasuke left the village. They brought out the drive to surpass each other.

The older I get the more I just rewatch OG Naruto and dont even bother with Shippuden anymore. I watched it all already and get more enjoyment from the early series. The art is grittier, the story jsut starting to unfold, and its not full of DBZ level attacks and reincarnation ass pulls

Super beautiful analysis, Man part 1 was perfect bruh, and Sasuke retrieval arc was tragic, Felt so bad for sasuke, his dynamic with Naruto was awesome not to mention how cleanly drawn naruto and sasuke are in the manga, I do honestly think if Sasuke didn't leap at itachi that the genjtusu wouldn't happen and maybe things coulda been different, obviously out of everything the orochimaru curse and sound 4 confrontation is what made sasuke leave, but the genjutsu changed sasukes outlook once again, and naruto to be honest didn't handle Sasuke well in the final arc, he didn't empathize with sasuke he only got hostile, he really tried forcing and threatening to break sasukes bones if he didn't return to the village instead of trying to understand, i genuinely to believe he coulda convinced sasuke and the final fight when they both pass out sasuke would rest with naruto, but because naruto was ignorant and so was kakashi, and the curse mark had no solution sasuke ultimately chose to leave, naruto Shippuden bond movie is perfect and sasukes timeskip self Is my fav version of him, he's really quiet and u don't really know whats in his mind, he put on a cold Demeanor and we never got to see his internal feelings because he very well did miss his previous life before the timeskip, I really didn't like narutos writing in shippuden, seeing timeskip sasuke still miss team 7 but act non chalant about it but then have naruto genuinely not caring would be such an interesting dynamic, for sasuke to see naruto moved on would definitely hurt him but instead kishimoto made sasuke almost non chalant and then naruto is clingy and still didn't learn anything sasuke said before he left or jiraya when he said stop chasing sasuke, Sasukes peak character was the itachi fight and It went down the window once tobi told him the truth and as for naruto he coulda been so much better but he was almost one dimensional in shippuden, he was good in the pain arc and even accepted that jiraya died and kakashi but still couldn't let go of sasuke which was lame, for me the highlight of Shippuden is hebi sasuke, and narutos 4tails to 6tails state but outside of that og naruto was my go to and was much better, I may dislike Shippuden naruto and taka sasuke (after the truth), but naruto in the bonds movie along with hebi sasuke had a good dynamic in that sorta, cuz when the aireal building blewup naruto left himself there and let sasuke go and sasukes reaction was priceless, that's what i wanted in the mainline show but it never happened..
