@@ScrappingwithGrandpaI believe he assumed the rim is being refitted with a tire. Now that you stated that it is being scraped he probably would agree with you and the video. If he used context he would have realized that is the case like the name of your channel, the title of the video, and your statements about getting more for the rim without a tire on it implies. Most people at home are just gonna watch the first minute or so and without context come to the same conclusion as him. The majority of people coming across this video are probably looking up how to debead or remove a tire "safely" at home. This comment or misunderstanding could easily be avoided with a warning that this should not be done for a rim being reused and is for scrap purposes only or something else and even shorter along those lines in the description, title, or even better at the beginning of the video. Now should it have to be done? No, because it is easily understood, but remember your on youtube. Most people here don't have an attention span let alone use context provided in numerous ways. No shade at all to the original commenter. Now I would be curious if the commenter is saying "stupid" because they think other methods like a tool meant for debeading a tire is quicker or even better because your not tearing up the tire and they could possibly be resold reused or even scraped for a few cents at the right places, like docks or boats that use them as buffers or places that build retaining walls with them, but I doubt that is the case. Just my thoughts. Good video for those looking for a quick way to seperate the tire from the rim for scrapping purposes though.

This ruins the rim !! Get a good steak knife from a thrift store, used motor oil and go around the sidewall - the oil makes the cutting go easy. With most of the tire gone cut a "V" in a spot to get all the way down to the rim, then use the thin grinder blade, working CAREFULLY at a 45* angle to JUST pop the wire bead. Don't nick the aluminum, but if you do, fill the nick with RTV silicone.
Now you can re-use the rim.

I can cut em faster, grab your self one of them new metal cutting circular saw blades, 2 plunge cuts, 1 on either side right thru sidewall bead and rim. It works with regular wood blade but the rubber heats it up and warps the blade, the metal is easy to cut it's actually the rubber that causes all the heat and blade issues. Make your 2 cuts being sure you have gone thru ss bead and then just peel tire off done.

Aluminum rims are some of the best aluminum you can get it is exclusion aluminum if the rim weighs 20 pounds I get $18 for it if it weighs 10 pounds I would get nine dollars for it. You are getting robbed do not sell your aluminum rims for $10 each. Ask them how much is Exmetal for per pound or aluminum rims per pound. You should get at least between 60 and $.90 per pound for excursion if the rim weighs 20 pounds at six cents excuse me $.60 a pound you should be at least getting $12.

Selling wheels on marketplace for $25 each is much better than $10-12 each. If you have a full matching set of 4 $150-200 . But yes you need to be patient and wait when you go fishing for cash. Some folks don’t have the space to store while selling .
