it is easy once you understand how to use my flexible shape pattern system. In contrast, the commonly used wood station bucks make it almost impossible to fathom.
@@proshaper I've watched every video since you started the Jag front clip and retroactively watched a bunch of your older vids. I've learned a lot so far. Thanks Wray.
The templates for plywood bucks available for sale on sights like Etsey are a very great and affordable way to start metal shaping. A foam car, like this "Alpha" here, can be sculpted from the templates, and then, flexible shape patterns can be made from them. I get the impression that it took years to sculpt the buck featured in the video, by using the eye.
If you want to practice compound curves, a "Disco Volante" style Alfa will present plenty of opportunities. One of the minor pleasures of these videos is seeing what the automatic captions make of a Massachusetts accent, but if you really want to hear someone "talk funny", try "@UC6JPmJ_aicru8XPWr3EvJnw". Newfoundland has a lot of rusty vehicles fur da boy ta fix. (Even more entertaining at 1.25x, but if you aren't used to it, you may want to crank down a bit.)
I know you like wire bucks, but don’t they have the same disadvantages (less information) like a plywood station buck? Not a criticism…just trying to understand it all. Thanks!!!
A wireform is the easiest way to develop an original shape. Once the wireform is made on one side the panels need to be fit to the wireform. To do that I use a technique I call making a proto flexible shape pattern. Once a panel is complete I make the opposite side using a flexible shape pattern from the first side insuring symmetry.
Well Wray, you summed it up week ago when you commented on the fact that the video"WASN'T DOING SO GOOD". Well Wray people are waking up to the fact that you're "FULL OF IT"!! You say that Wooden Station Bucks are "ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FATHOM", Yet that's how the ITALIANS, the ENGLISH, The REST OF EUROPE and the AUSTRALIAN Body Builders ALL use wooden Station Bucks to build bodies. NONE of them use FSP'S (EFFIN SHIT PATTERNS!!) YOU also say in this and your previous video that ED ( who has done a great job of creating a full size model), that he will be able to build his dream ALFA , by doing 130 HOURS of practise with you. WELL THAT'S SIMPLY NOT TRUE. Would you ALLOW SOMEONE WITH 130 HOURS OF MEDICAL PRACTISE OPERATE ON YOU ??? I DON'T THINK SO. It takes years to become proficient as a DOCTOR and at least 10 years of constant Application to become a 1st class BODY BUILDER!! That's why Wray people have woken up to the fact that NOTHING YOU DO GETS FINISHED. ( THE E TYPE BONNET IS A GOOD EXAMPLE.) Nothing fits because of the use of FSP'S.PROVE ME WRONG WRAY, SHOW US THE 10 PIECE JAGUAR E TYPE BONNET PUT BACK TOGETHER AND FITTED ON THE CAR.......I DON'T THINK YOU WILL????
Please to authority are the absolute weakest route to go. I love that in all your ranting you never once volunteered your own practical knowledge. Makes it plain as day that you don't know what you are talking about, just another loudmouth internet expert.
Good students found a great teacher.
Impressive how you are able to pass these skills so quickly to your students.

Ed's car is his original design. Totally different deal.
Hope you do a couple of videos about making that recessed vent on the wing , it looks very complicated so very interesting.
What a stunning car he’s made there! Can’t wait to see it in ally.
Great progress!!
Really good, shiny finish. Congratulation to your class, and the teacher 😁🤙
Awesome explanation again Wray
I finish college in a few months, then I can do proper projects. I cannot wait to build a buck and make you proud Wray
TJ, I'm looking forward to seeing what you create.
Very interesting thanks Wray
Love your videos
Thanks, Please help spread the word. I thought this video would do a lot better than it is doing.
