Just started my heavy equipment tech apprenticeship with the Local 324 IUOE and loving it. Such a great industry, and one day I hope to join the *CAT* team
Make sure all of our fasteners are in place? Was it worth mentioning that one bolt was missing and the other bolt was about to fall out? I did pick up a good tip on feeling the pins and bushings for heat, never heard of that.
I cannot help myself: Many lifetimes ago I worked on a farm that had an old D4 on it. There was no blade but it never saw concrete or rock and it was so excellent in gaining traction. I would like to get one when I start growing crops in my retirement but I think the running cost of a crawler tractor over a wheel tractors probably five to one. Actually, what I look at the rental rates that's probably the way I would go is just rent it for the week and then turn it in. I don't know why on this goofy because I hated running into ammunition carrier in the artillery unit as it had tracks. I guess I'll expect a better suspension system with a Cat track tractor.

Under the cover on top of the frame between the sprocket and carry roller . Remove 4 bolts and cover and grease fitting is inside where the cannon and the oil is .

at 2:28 would that be a bolt loose and one missing on the roller shaft cap? not mentioned in video.
