That Dave the Diver one is insane. Being fat doesn't mean you're the stereotypical "out of breath" fat person when you try to do any amount of physical activity.
The funniest thing I find about that is that, a fair amount of this anti-woke far right extremist crowd are, guess what, overweight rednecks living in the south and eating McD's for breakfast lunch and dinner. So like at that point you really got to ask the question, who are these guys even trying to appeal to if they even hate the people who would be their allies? But then you suddenly get the realization much of this belief is political in nature and is pretty much bit for bit the playbook of right-winged nationalist politicians who actively hate and ridicule the people that they pretend to cater to when campaigning to vote for them and then it all starts to click. That isn't to say I would generalize though because far left crazies can be just as bad as these guys and tend to advocate for the same things just in the opposite direction, and unfortunately there's a lot of level-headed people everywhere in between caught in the crossfire of these extremists.
I think that the primary criteria is: Is a game fun to play or not? If it's fun, I'd play it. If it's not, I'd avoid it. When the messaging becomes preachy, it ruins the fun. Otherwise, I don't especially care about it.
The big dilemma is that you usually have to spend money on a game to buy it in order to try it, and people don't want to give money to a game they don't support. So then we have to trust media of the game which may not reliably convey the gameplay feel or trust reviewers/journos, which we mostly know by now may not be the most reliable.
@@PrinnyLordthere are several workarounds. There are reviews from your favourite youtubers. If you're still skeptical for whatever reason you can just watch clips or playthroughs to give you a sense of what you're getting into. I've been doing since I was a kid way back when I used to buy 3ds games in like... 2012 lmao
@@ChomskysGaming for me it's when the world or story's writing becomes overshadowed by hammering in messages that have no relevance/correlation to be pushed as hard as they are being, or characters whose whole personality is just "i'm not white!" "i'm gay!" "i'm enby!" or whatever else very annoying things that many devs have done in the name of "rep", but instead just made these minority groups insufferable, commodity, media tropes
The list covered in this video does feel (to me) less "look out for woke influence" and more "ew gay and black". I imagine the person(s) who authored this list most likely haven't played (demos or refund-window even) a majority of the games in it.
Even people who are against woke stuff called this list out. This list is notorious for being terrible. So why Act Man goes on to show this as a representation of an entire group escapes me. But he has been going a bit crazy recently, so who knows.
_""look out for woke influence" and more "ew gay and black"_ What's the difference? One is a dogwhistle and the other is just saying the quiet part out loud. Don't try to pretend there's anything different about these two. lmao
@@BigFry9591 Why? Isn't it obvious? To undermine the efforts of the true anti-woke people who actually care and want to point out the games with agendas and bad people behind their development. I can tell you right now, Its not the games that are the main problem, its the devs and company's hiring DEI consultants and or forcing DEI ideology and agenda into games where it just doesn't fit or feel natural at all. The list of games is merely a suggestion to not buy them so as to not support these company's. Instead of looking at the ones with legitimate claims and evidence they'd rather downplay it with some stupid racist, homophobic and transphobic list these type of people make.
Idc about the lists. To me, something is "woke" when it prioritizes "checking boxes" rather than creating a fulfilling piece of art. That goes for anything. Just because something has ultra progressive themes, doesn't necessarily mean it will be bad.. it just so happens that when it IS a focus (instead of just being normally included) the product tends to be completely bland, obnoxious, and/or patronizing. I would be more than willing to buy a game that's considered "woke" (however it's being defined by everyone else) as long as the things that make it "woke" aren't a focal point, and the content is interesting. "Hey, look at us, we're diverse!!!" is not interesting. Hex was talking about magic being in the story yet people were like fact checking race or something in a game, and I personally think that's going to far. You can and should add options for anyone to play the way they want. More options in games will NEVER not be good. You just can't forget that the LGBTQ+ community is the minority. If you don't add options for the majority as well, it's just dumb if we're truly aiming for equality.
Your issue is when it's performative. The issue with the people who make this list (and its defenders) is that it exists. You are not the same. Unfortunately, enough people like them have made a big enough stink about every instance of minorities and gays that people like us have to explain things in long form without the use of yet another buzzword that used to mean something.
Im queer and i personally dislike woke games but i appreciate queer characters in games. To me, "woke" is pushing a progressive political message down your throat whether you like it or not; it has nothing to do with representation but rather a creator/company using their medium to manipulate you into backing their beliefs which to me is scummy and ruins the fun (im looking at you, Life is Strange 2). But i love queer/bipoc/etc. characters in games in general because it makes me feel accepted.
Exactly, i don't mind games that have options for different relationships based on the characters, that's one of the reasons i love the Mass effect trilogy because they did it well IMO, as well as Baldur's gate 3 did it pretty well when it comes to relationship options, i just find it annoying when there's a political message being shoved down our throats, id say you hit the nail on the forehead with that comment, pretty much surmised very well.
Yeah, straight here but I enjoy read Yuri manga and games for entertainment, never once I think they're woke. But tbf, Japan yuri genre just not as preachy nor condescending as western L genre (which I don't enjoy)
Your not wrong, though one thing I think gets lost is that we can also relate to and identify with characters that are vastly different from us. How often have we roleplayed or idolized the hero, from say... Son Goku, to Ororo Munroe (Storm), to Princess Serenity (Sailor Moon), to Virgil Hawkins (Static Shock), and so on... (I tried to use four characters that are fairly "diverse" and imo so important in media one should feel ashamed for not knowing all four). They may look nothing like us, but they trigger some greater feeling in us that we look at them with wide eyes and admiration because well, they're awesome. I'm sure someone smarter could label it with better insight. But these characters used to bring us together as fans instead of a lot of division that seems to happen nowadays.
I think that the "Body Type: Type A, Type B" nonsense feels dehumanizing instead of being more inclusive. Also: Saying Fallout: New Vegas has "light social commentary" is like saying the Hiroshima nuke was a "small tactical explosive".
I am in two minds when it comes to the romance options on one hand haveing multiple options is fun but haveing a character reject you because they don't lean that way is good for immersion in story so it depends on the tone and direction of the game it also depends on the type of game whether or not a characters sexuality even maters for a game
I think it depends on how realistic you want the game to be. Majority of games just make a bunch of characters "bi maybe" for the sake of making it easy to romance whoever the hell you want. It's just less work for the development team and probably the most basic way to include some of the LGBTQIA+ but it's not realistic obviously and you miss out on unique quests or dialogs that could've been added for individual characters. I think both ways are fine and only matter on how you want your game to be. Baldurs Gate 3 has them all be "bi maybe" but some characters do have monogamous and poly cutoffs which was a nice touch since poly people are not often represented in romance options in games.
I think one of the only times I’ve seen this are in pathfinder kingmaker (the character Valerie will not have a relationship with you unless you’re a man) and fallout new Vegas (Veronica will reject the courier even if they are female, making a joke about you coming back when you’re a “tall leggy blonde”)
The main thing that makes something woke is the attitude and reasons for inclusion. Like if the main character is a black woman just to fill a quota. "WE PUT A BLACK STRONG INDEPENDENT WOMAN IN OUR GAME/SHOW! WE CARE ABOUT YOU! BUY OUR SHIT!" I also think some people are tired of games becoming less masculine and getting that confused with being woke.
I’m against changes in translation with with Japanese titles. We’ve seen missing an anime and games and I think a few manga. If they do like sense 8 great show where we see it from everybody’s perspective and that sure was naturally diverse with how they handled its plot characters was so good. I wish you got season three.
I feel like often a lot of people get very confused about what "woke". So here's a quick explanation: "Woke" is a coined term from political progressive parties in reference of being awakened or enlightened about a topic (typically in favor of progressive policies). Seeing it a self centered level of idiocy the opposition gleefully pounced to part take in it's intended use. So what are commonalities among progressive policies? •feminism in the aspect of making powerful women & averting the male gaze. In result female characters are comparably stronger with little work and designed explicitly to look less appealing & more dull. •Homosexuality pride in the aspect of "queer coded" characters and large prominence in gay relationships. In result many companies establish gay quotas that shoe horn the aspect which comes off as unnatural, cartoonishly gay, and occasionally overtly sexualized or creepy scenes (not explicitly fault of gats but often resulted from the inclusion of sexuality thus inclusion of fetishism). •Transgender policy in the aspect of removing genders entirely. The result is body type A & B, removal of extreme feminine & masculine features, and awkward use of pronouns which often can be both lore & immersion breaking. •Extreme climate focuses in the aspect of forced dialogue. While less prominent it still appears in a shoe horned fashion and often used to paint industrial areas as evil. •Racial prejudice in the aspect of favoring darker skin tones. In result we see racism targeting lighter skin tines, race swapping, stereotyping to gain black/ brown favor, and ironic push for segregation & division. •Anti-capitalism/ communism in the aspect of messaging. In results we often see eraser of history, oppressors vs oppressed dynamics, and demonization of business owners & entrepreneurs (in irony it's these ideals that are pushed BY Mega Corps which should say something). Even you need a good example look no further than Duskborn, but other establishment and policies also follow this mindset to lesser degrees like: •Ubisoft AC shadows where a black African man is slaughtering Japanese to the tune of hiphop. •Sweet baby & black girl gamers forceful race swappings and racial quotas. •Star wars Rey series and nonsensical acolyte. •The gross stereotyping from Robyn Hood. •Medical hospitals unequal entry based on race. •Dylan Mulvaney skipping around the woods in high heels and running from bugs •ect ect
@@LUCAS420BLZ i will not lie...that's probably attributed to gaslighting. Obviously if you're beening accused of extremes it's easier to deflect and paint opposition as a nut case. For an nonpolitical example consider coffeezilla vs scam crypto currencies. Coffee's job is quite literally proving the scam, but crypto bros accuse him of FOMO (or something close) to discredit him. In essence calling a game woke is just pointing out the blatant political messenging and demanding a return to normalcy. Not a right wing talking point, but they benefit from extreme rhetoric and their downfall.
Space Marine 2 being woke is crazy. The world of the game does not care about male, female or whatever else for the Astra Militarum, you are just meat for the grinder to be thrown at the enemies of the Emperor. Promotions seem to happen because the first commander died and then the next one is thrown into that position to keep the gears turning. The first game had that with the Female authority figure, i cant remember her name but she states she is the commander to Titus because all the other commanders are dead. The Space Marines being "improbably diverse". The Imperium of man has Billions of planets with trillions of people on each world in melting pot hive cities. But nah its too woke guys, even tho the lore of the universe would easily allow for all of that.
I mean...they did say they where woke...like the company behind 40k,I mean the actual meaning of the word woke not the way people use it this days, fuck the story is literally satire about politics, believes and more, which is one of the reason I love it
@@hellkaiser1366 A company can't really be "woke" if they're putting out good product. If they're doing their job, you can't call them "affirmative action hires," no matter their race or sexuality.

The problem and something that is a lot of these anti woke people are more concerned that they "woke" gamed *work* or are successful. A lot of these "woke" games arent even bad because of the "woke" idealogies, but because there are usually a ton of bugs and issues. Cyberpunk they preached it was bad because it was "woke" but it a as bad for shitty management and the severe bugs. The game after changes and fixed is great now, but it literally has all the hard woke themes. But they don't say anything because it's good now and they just avoid playing it and they can't ride on the hate of it due to development issues.
People complained about Cyberpunk being woke? Seriously? Ugh, people are weird. That's like saying No Man's Sky (the other game that had to be saved from mismanagement) is woke... Which I'm sadly sure someone has said.
@jesuszamora6949 cyber punk would be "woke" it quiet literally is all their talking points. However they can't bash it because it's a good game and can't use it as a strawman argument for their shi beliefs.
It’s hilarious that you could only give a single example of a game practically no one complained about yet we’re so adamant that there was so many woke games that somehow were “successful” despite the past couple of years showing the exact opposite to be true
@LegendXD00 In addition to Cyberpunk, we have Baldur's Gate III, RE4 Remake, Mass Effect.... Apparently, Elden Ring... I heard bitching about RE3 remake when it came out... The problem with dumbass buzzwords is that they can apply to damn near anything, but the Reich wingers always back off when one of these games proves successful so as to not be as easily caught in their grift.
You’re an actual doofus to make that claim when Ryan has literally said the exact opposite in every interview he’s been where he’s asked that question. Do your research next time instead of pretending you know what you’re talking about
Honestly speaking, for me personally, if they wanted to stick with the “body type” differentiator, they should have Four types for default choices, rather than two. Those being: Type A and B as Masculine body types, one with male features, your typical default male body type, one with female features (for more masculine or generally broader/stronger looking, visually at least, females. IE: Zarya from Overwatch), and Type C and D are more feminine body types, with C being more male features (thinner, more lightweight or less muscular individuals), and D being a traditional default female character body type. Add in character customization and voila, problem solved. Men with feminine body types can pick type C and make a more feminine male, women with more masculine body types can pick type B and make a more masculine female. Anyone in any other gender can use whichever baseline is closest to themselves and tailor the character to suit their gender identity. With Type A being the most “Male” and D being the most “Female”, anyone in between or transitioning etc, would naturally be able to pick the type closest to their preferred gender using this to pick their optimal character body type. But that kind of change doesn’t help anti-LGBT fanatics rage against “the gays”, so they hate the concept of “a body type” versus “male or female” because without that stuff they tend to have little to no leg to stand on. Ultimately this is my personal take of course, but the idea that “body type” is an issue in games just feels absurdly dumb to me.
Hex - if you want to romance shadowheart wouldn’t you want to play a girl for a win win ? Me - YES I’m not crazy playing the hottest THOT “TAV” my brain can imagine
Gay does not mean woke but those who are woke seem to be of the mindset that those of alternative sexuality are required to be on their side. So I find it rather discriminatory of those who are of this woke mindset to use gay people as a shield against criticism.
@@denkerbosu3551 They also try and use neurodivergent people as a shield to being criticized. This might be an ancient reminder but does anyone remember the #notyourshield thing?
Yeah, after watching this full video, the person who wrote this list, or even people that unironically think it's good, are completely insane. I have a really hard time believing it's not satire and trolling though. I used to hang out with a lot of trolls, and one of the things we did was to "agree" as a group with things that we're obviously unhinged just because it was funny to make other people believe it was serious. And I can't help but think that's what's happening here. But then again, there are people that unironically think the world is flat even though that clearly started out as trolling, so what do I know, people are crazy.
@@Thetiredpotato11 I don't like to draw conclusions like that without solid evidence. It's definitely possible, but I think it's equally possible and probably more likely that some people are just crazy. And I personally believe it's safer to not fall into any kind of ideological thinking because that will definitely be used against you. Once you put on that tinfoil hat you end up isolated in the internet version of a padded cell real fast, and when that happens you're just preaching to the choir in an echo chamber, neutralized and pacified. Better to stay skeptical on everything, that way nobody can get their hooks in you. Keep it as a possibility, but no where close to a certainty, because that is a weakness and weakness will be exploited.
22:08 awesome point about this, there’s a few characters who’re gay and are subtly placed to make social commentary about stuff like “don’t ask don’t tell” (major knight in Mojave outpost) Or Veronica, who’s personal struggle with her faction is based on the fact her sexuality is at odds with tradition, so in my opinion they made solid characters with experiences a lot of homosexual players could potentially relate to, with Veronica specifically highlighting social and religious trauma around being gay and not accepted by your family, she loves her faction, but she’s hurt because they don’t allow her to who love who she does, why? Because she can’t have a baby with another woman, and that’s all the faction cares about, if that sounds familiar, you might be from America lmao (this is not just an American experience)
Mass Effect 2007. Nuke levels of woke. Gays, lesbians, none gendered aliens. Amazing game. And their sexuality didn't matter because the Reapers were coming!
From what I know woke was supposed to be a term that refers to people who went out of their way to become knowledgeable on history that isn't normally taught, but nowadays it seems people use it as a term to refer to people who come off as overly liberal in different avenues.
Honestly it's the fact that it is being forced into everything when it's a minority of the population only because companies see it as profitable that is Honestly tiring out people but just my thoughts on it
Most aren’t. This list is 1 of 2 things. A troll, or an extreme knee jerk reaction to the woke shit. But, to be fair, games like bloons and cod aren’t inherently woke, they just push woke messaging through optional items that you can use in the game. There’s a difference between a normal “pride” flag and that ridiculous flag that’s somehow supposed to include black and brown people.
The entire point of video games is so people can forget about real world bullshit for a few hours. These far left activists know the shit they believe is so insane though that the only way they’ll get people to believe the same things they do is by forcing it down their throats, and the total implosion of ubisoft is the end result of gamers getting tired of having politics forced on them.
i was introduce to video games by a the military husband of my aunt. After 15 years of marriage, he got divorce because he turn out to be gay and did not want to lie to himself.
Heres my hot take Who the fuck cares? Bad games can be created by anyone with any political agenda A game being "Anti-woke" does not make it fun, In fact most games that lean into that shit are TERRIBLE Is game fun? Yes, Play it Is game unfun? Yes, Do not play it End of
Granted, it can be less fun if it feels like they're aggressively preaching. That Alex Jones game looks like it would aggravate me (though I might try it if I find it on a torrent site - to hell with giving that bastard money).
6:18 that's the thing, it is mostly just performative and not incusive but instead exclusive. Being inclusive when it comes to customization is to allow the player to choose, to give players the freedom and not remove options. And when it comes to the woke thing, making media woke is also very performative, it is just flags and meaningless things, playing in stereotypes and using it as a shield against criticism. The list in this video is ridiculous, sounds like a parody, but you can see how in games like Baldur's Gate 3, which is extremely woke, normal people still love it, being woke doesn't make it bad, specially if it is not performative, but nowadays it is almost always performative and used as a way to deflect criticism. Here in my country we have a saying that goes something like "A scalded cat becomes afraid of cold water". The obvious push to make the message, whatever message it is, more important than the game itself, making it preachy, makes people resent the message itself, it backfires. Woke becomes a red flag because of the drop in quality being always paired with DEI push.
Woke games usually have things done that make little to no impact on the game and feels a lot like “we checked the box”. Things like “strong independent woman that doesn’t need a man” or “their personality is that they are gay” typically when it’s directly thrown in your face as well and emphasized like it’s a big point. Another thing would be stuff like ragging on capitalism just to rag on it, not from a point of it being relevant to the game. Like a random npc calling somebody a capitalist pig when it’s not relevant to the story of the game.
I will say that I myself am Gay, however that flag doesn’t really make me feel great. It seems more like a political symbol rather than a general symbol of same-gender relationships. So I do consider the pride flag as woke, but to get rid of it from cosmetics would not make people happy either so I don’t care as much
It's when the ideology of woke concept is the focus of the game is when its woke. In most cases the devs point it out when talking about the game as a " look how progressive we are" kind of thing. Other has small woke things that don't impact the game as a whole.
The problem in this case isn't "the game is woke," it's "they're using woke to shield from the criticism." Like when they tried to use hot ass women to hide the fact that Scarlet Blade was a piece of crap Korean grindfest back in the day.
Gay people are fine but these "acknowledgments that they exist" are misplaced. I don't need to be reminded that gay people exist while I'm running from pyramid head in dbd or something. I prefer they be acknowledged passively by being in game characters rather than having symbols everywhere. If you're gonna have symbols of one type of person then you need to have them for multiple types
Haven't played DBD, so I can't say head one way or the other about it, but what's wrong with pride imagery or gay NPCs in, say, an open world. Night City or Los Santos are supposed to feel like REAL places, and you're going to see that sort of thing.
@@densetsuharukan1911 Honestly, the only CoD that I could call Woke would be Vanguard (WWII was fought with segregated units). Multiplayer decals aren't really that big a deal in a game with goddamn Nicki Minaj as a playable character. As to Elden Ring, where's the woke?

I do think the lists are sincere, because well , people have different opinions and the "Anti-woke" crowd are not some monolith You have those who just want games to avoid OVERLY going into politics (Some is fine if your game involve that , If a mystery game came out and a main plot point was set during the stonewall riots I think some level of politics would be fine) While others want well Women, trans , gay , black e.t.c removed from gaming in general I think the people calling it a Psy op are just trying to distance one group from there group because it makes your group look bad, but lets be honest There is a shit ton of hate in the "Anti-woke" movement , I can respect your opinions but as soon as you deny that the movement your passionate about does not have its darker side, the less sincere you are to me . The movement has its homophobic element , Its racist element etc
I found something in the list that I thought was funny. This is what the list says about Library of Ruina. "Contains subtly anti-capitalism, subtly pro-transhumanism and subtly pro-LGBTQA plus messaging. Heavy social commentary regarding economic struggle, class differences, and human augmentation." 1. The setting of Lobotomy Corp, and by extension Library of Ruina and Limbus Company, is not really a capitalist society to begin with. It's more like a corporate Oligarchy. 2. If the "pro-transhumanism" refers to the guys that put their brains into robots, then the list would just be flat wrong. People in universe are actually shunned for doing that (at least the ones most people could buy, good ones are way too expensive for the majority to buy) and it wasn't described as being a pleasant experience for them. For instance I'm pretty sure they say something like "I feel like I'm starving but we can't eat". Don't know how that's even subtly pro-transhumanism. As for "Heavy social commentary regarding economic struggle, class differences, and human augmentation.", the series takes place in a dystopian city run by heartless mega corperations, things like that are bound to come up. What's even more hilarious is that Limbus Company has many of the same themes, is in the same universe, BUT IS CONSIDERED FINE BY THE LIST. Literally just based off of that I think the list is either an elaborate troll, or someone is placing some of these games inaccurately because they only know some of these games at a surface level.
I usually go by how something makes me feel when I experience it in real time. If something they do is considered woke and I get a fucked up feeling about it I just drop the game. There’s decent games that have progressive themes and characters, but when shit like Veilguard happens that’s the fuckin line.
the way i see woke is when they're shoving in it your face to the point of making the entire game about the "message". i don't care who you want to have sex with, personally i think that sex should be private.
ngl i cant tell if actman is taking the piss at it or no but he comes off as if hes saying "theres no woke in video games" when there clearly is all you gotta do is look at Dragon Age The Veilguard that literally has top surgery scars in a franchise that is literally established in lore people use magic to shapeshift. he also mentioned award winning but its no secret western companies love to essentially jerk each other off in this award ceremonies on how virtuous they are because they added "inclusivity" while porpously leaving games that come from asian countries out intentionally just because they dont fit their agenda. there are moments where its taken to far to say that pretty much everything is woke but there are way to many points on the graf at this point that make several lines
@@EatinPaste yeah i mean the list is kinda out there some of them legit just make you go "huh ?" but still i just dont think we should completly rule out the general idea wich is there is clearly an agenda specially by western companies
He's making fun of the list. The people who actually think Destroy All Humans is "woke" because it has "anti human" themes are actually stupid to the max considering you kill fellow humans in HUNDREDS of games yet a goofy ass alien vs human game is "woke". Stupidest list ever made.
Honestly i dont care much about woke and dei content aslong as it makes sense in the game. I do think pronounces are silly in general, like in my country pronounces isnt really a thing, while we are apperently one of the most LGBT friendly countries in the world. So for me i feel its silly when i see pronounce selection and ussage in games and i would love the option to "hide pronounces". If its a good game i will still play it though. As for there being a transperson in Hogwarts, no biggie. Honestly its kinda funny seeing Hogwarts being catogorized as a woke game while its also being catagorized as a tranphobic game 😂 Its still a enjoyable game
It's "pronouns", you're typing it as "pronunciations", clearly because it's something recognized by the dictionary, understandable since pronouns is not even in your language, just figured I'd let you know. An easy way to remember is just by remembering how a noun is an identifier in grammar. But yeah, I agree, I also find it silly. But what I find annoying about it is how they're trying to scare people. Like in my country, many people have started using a made up word that is a mix between he and she because of how afraid they are to misgender someone. So they're basically just using people's niceness to terrorize them, which is insane and very creepy on far more levels than it just messing up media. I'm also from a country ranked as very LGBT friendly. If you're interested in the more sinister implication around this and why it's freaking some people out a lot, I recommend checking out Stephen Fry's debate on political correctness and maybe also the over a decade old speech by Rowan Atkinson on free speech.
I don't think any of this stuff matters so long as it's not performative, pandering or tokenism. It feels very inauthentic when it's performative and it pulls me out of the game, I can't speak for other people but it kills my enjoyment because it feels like they're sitting me down and trying to lecture me rather than giving me a fun game to play. 😂 For example: Baldur's Gate 3, Spiderman 2 , Hogwarts Legacy and GoW Ragnarok all had elements that some people would describe as 'woke' but I didn't care because it felt natural and not performative. I didn't care that Angrboda was black in GoW Ragnarok because it didn't feel like tokenism, she felt natural in that world due in big part to her great acting. Basically I dislike both sides of this, the performative activists who try to make everything woke, and the actual bigots who call everything with a woman or black person in it woke, two sides of the same stupid coin. 😂
RimWorld was labeled as 'woke' for having transhumanist messages, even though the Flesh Purist trait (where pawns hate having prosthetics and cybernetics) exists. It has to be bait. :sob:
People have honest to god forgotten the original meaning of woke and the initial purpose for dei so many words have been used as buzzwords that they lost meaning

who care if hes gay, warframe is all about that awsume game-play and grind and honestly interesting stories. characters sexual preference is the bottom tier of worries or care. good writing and great game-play loop takes priority overall
I think I posted this or something very similar to this to the last video you did on this topic. Essentially to me, I would not call something woke unless I felt that the messaging was more important than the story and the gameplay and the game itself. I feel like a lot of modern games focus more on the message. They’re trying to tell people than making the game good and that is when I feel like a game kind of falls into the woke category. I also personally think that some games set in history or in fantasy realms and stuff that have a lot of only modern politics like things that are only become talking points in the last 5 to 10 years feel similar. That being said, the women suffrage movement being called, woke in red, red dead redemption two is… idiotic.
I think an issue with the term woke being mainstream is different things are woke (which I read as being too progressive or liberal to make sense or is offensive) To someone who legitmately is disgusted by lgbt people, a male flirting with a male is offensive. Which isn't uncommon. There is a reason the pride flag isn't in copies of Spiderman in other chunks of the planet. Different cultures accept things and abhor other things. It isn't fair but its reality. The issue with the West is everyone speaks up. The people who are so extreme they view certain groups as an existential threat exist all across the political spectrum. So the definition and criticism of DEI or Woke stuff is muddled by different people having different measures of what it is. I think having characters or factions represent real life groups or people to be very tacky. Annoying too. Politics in- game is fine though. Like in Fallout various factions have different beliefs and values so they war and slander each other. That's fine. I don't trust some idiot to make a list though. The guy who made the list seems to be a religious extremist of some sort. I'll check out a game before I buy it myself.
I feel it isn’t “woke” if a game tackles a “contentious” topic WITHOUT making fun of said topic or being blatantly disrespectful. For example, the gay NPCs in Persona 5 (I forgot the guys’ name unf). They appear literally only twice and they are there for comedic purposes. They don’t shove them down your throat. If they forced them into like 15 scenes, it’d kinda get aggravating since they are meant for comedic purposes, nothing much else. The new Assassin’s Creed I feel classifies as “woke” because Ubisoft deadass took a story that had questionable fact-checking in it, and made it into a game… based in JAPAN… and THEN made the battle music hip hop… why not make it something like what many JRPG’s use as music? They disrespected not only Japanese culture, but also African American people by stereotyping them over and over
I have to say something - What's wrong with a gay character having a larger, more serious role in a game? I'll be damned if anyone tries to ungay, say, Judy Alvarez or Kerry Eurodyne from Cyberpunk 2077.
LOL Alex Jones using the Kyle Rittenhouse Game Strategy and pretty much just changed it to a side-scrolling Platform game instead of a Side-Scrolling Shoot 'em Up. But those games do look fun but they're too Expensive just because it came and "includes" a Famous Person! If it was cheaper I'd get both games even just to try it out...but at those prices, no thanks! P.S: I would love to see you play it on Twitch though!
8:56 Zeus wasnˋt gay. He was The FATHER of the gods. If he did not get the kids himself. He was at least By. I do not like spam so the rest of my comments is in the commens of this comment.
11:01 It´s not the flags. Itˋs a Symptom of what happend before. They killed John Conner in Terminator and erased the hero and what came bofore. Best example because it represents whats going on. They kill a thing we like and replace it. You canˋt replace a hamster with a fish and thell us itˋs the same. The flags are red flages. We just want to stop judgment day (because you are not justice more then us).
11:23 I donˋt care what you are. You do not get to take my 🚛 and draw flowers on it. Get your own 🚛. I donˋt say you can play with it but you canˋt cut it up and build a dollhaus from it. There are no more genders in Pokemon go. Add stuff, donˋ t replace it.
11:41 Rüdiger is not gay he is a dick. I donˋt like him. He does his stuff and I do mine. We can talk but we are not friends. That was called tolerance ones. I donˋt blast heavy metal from my speakers and he does not play Volksmusik.
12:38 I am always happy to see the Pride flag. If you include black people it becomes the Opression-flag what paints all streight white men as the other. If you include you also exclude everyone else. I ´m European, I donˋt like beeing excluded for beeing born.
I definitely don’t think the list is an accurate representation of what going woke is. I hugely recommend following the “Sweet Baby Inc. influence” Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League is a gargantuan example of how to taint an ip. Also I want to mention two things that I think is relevant to the conversation that might shed some light on the subject. 1: I think when it comes to wokeness in media, it comes down to the idea of is the gay being represented as good storytelling or is it just there to be there. Yes there is nuance in everything but I asked my friend this question and we talked about how often some gay people like to make their sexuality their personality and it leaks into the art heavily. No one is gonna like a shitty written character if they are just gay, if it’s bad then it’s bad no one cares who you want to fuck unless if it matters to their story. Big example of a good character who has good romance is Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher. Or hell even the show I’ve been watching Superman and Lois (check it out is actually really gas) *spoilers* how one of the main characters’ girlfriend kissed another girl when she was off at camp but she didn’t really have feelings for her it was a spur of the moment thing and now the boy has to navigate those feeling of how to move past and incident like that. He feels uncomfortable but loves her still and wrestles with that reality, THATS GOOD SHIT! 2: A huge offender of woke media I think is changing characters who weren’t previously gay or lgbt before get re written to be that way. I don’t like when this happenes, I think it’s lazy and a cop out way of making a story but not bothering to make your own original character who can be like that. Super heros tend to be an offender of this mainly, Jon Kent (Superboy) being an example. You have to realize that while yes, you can make any version of a character you want, it’s contextually really different when you have a character who is re written to have different origins or the classic “what if evil” stuff and just “why don’t we just keep what makes this character popular but make him G a y”. It serves no purpose and it’s just there to please the lgbtq community who probably don’t even consume the media (not saying they don’t or wouldn’t consume it not my point).
My pov like many. Is a game or movie is considered woke. If it pushes certain agendas at the cost of quality. I do think its obvious that something like concord having 6 black people and 1 white person in a game that is in space with aliens and robots is weird especially with certain remarks by the devs. Another example is making fun of an entire political side especially without taste. For example Life is strange 2 did that. Lets just day it's universally cringe. I know anti trumpers and they thought it was cringe. Asmon said it best their is layers. Stuff stacks up. Truth is as well because of irl population count.
I watched the video but it’s still a lil annoying because yugioh has censorship and if you want a stretch you can also you can talk about how the male characters dress
he took on purpose a list by dumbasses. DEI detected by kabrutus is a much more realistic list of games where there's proven DEI consulting and narrative changes. the problem has never been a gay character or black or w.e existing in a game. Its hamfisting their ideology in the game and trying to do social engineering by normalizing some shit to kids. Like the black samurai in assassin's creed shadows being the main character and pretending its lore accurate. Or removing women from dragon's age veilguard by forcing you to play trangender looking characters. i dont care if a game is diverse or not. I Loathe when stupid indoctrinated activists try to force their mental illness on me while i'm trying to have fun playing a game. Its very different.
I definitely agree that this list is pretty ridiculous. The problem in general is that the definition of "woke" to people leaning right has the opposite yet similar issue to the definition of "woman" to people leaning left. Where one term has a clear meaning that activists will try to make as undefined as possible and the other has no single/clear definition that activists will demand a single meaning of.
Wokeness is when it's pandering in an obvious way. IE. a game can have a gay character but when the character's entire premise is about that and nothing else, it's pandering as they have no character depth (unless it's a random ass NPC which obviously doesn't matter for the game). Spiderman 2 PS5 for example, 90% of the sidequests (not talking about the drones etc missions) are either helping a minority or a disabled person and also some BLM propaganda here and there. Game wise; Miles is purposely stronger than Peter only equal whenever Peter has the Venom/Anti-Venom suit (even then, Miles has more value due to constant power refreshes, faster recharges, more AoE). I think both extremes are bad tbf, black characters existing is not woke as I've seen some say. Even if SM3 mainly focuses on Miles and is even more woke, I like the gameplay in of itself. Not playing a good game simply because it's woke or pushes a narrative is just falling into a never ending abyss until you don't enjoy anything and hate everything. Form your own opinion and enjoy life. Finally a message I like to point out in these types of debates especially with censorship: This battle is a "Lose-Lose" situation. You buy it thus enabling more censorship to come in the future or you don't thus eventually killing off the series. I believe every ship can be steered back to course, so I do eventually buy it cause I want it to live..
While hogwarts legacy is a good game and not really "woke" as this list would suggest. Edit: and also black people being in Harry Potter and 1800s Britain is in no way "woke" (the same can't be said about one particular "diverse hire" in the game tho). The argument of "there's dragons and wizards in 1800s England, why can't there be black, gay or trans people or whatever marginalized group is trending in current day politics", is just not a great one. Because suspension of disbelief on the consumer part isn't just granted automatically for anything possibly inserted into a piece of fiction, it's earned from the consumer by consistent world building and storytelling. If a game/movie about ancient African tribes and juju magic has a gay Asian dude side character without any background or explanation for the obvious inconsistency, you can't just go "well juju magic is real in this world why can't a gay Asian guy be in an African tribe?" and expect the average consumer to lap it up.
I'm pretty sure it is in the lore though. There's only a handful of wizarding schools in the world and so alot of characters have to travel around to said schools. Like the black characters in the game are there because the mom was hired as a professor, just like real life... they came from another wizarding school to learn and also teach. They also turn into random shit all the time so it's not surprising they can do non normal shit. They're a bunch of fictional wizards.
@@whoahanant I wasn't talking about black characters in Harry Potter. Black characters have always been a part of Harry Potter universe and black people have been in Britain historically for a while. I was talking about the concept of the argument. Harry Potter is just the example she used in the video.
if there's a list then it's insincere, look i hate wokeness and pushing gendas as much as the next gamer, but people are taking this too far, this is so stupid Edit - personally about body types, how about we just have like 5 man bodies and 5 woman bodies and have height and skin customizable like we always have, just put Man 1, Man 2 and so on... or have the whole thing customizable like we used to have anyway too but let's be honest, no one atually gives a shit about body types aside from weirdos, they're just putting body type 1 and 2 to not say man and woman, i don't really care, never have, i look for the model i like and pick that, how many people actually read that? Also, Huniepop is kinda gay because, you can be a woman and every romance option is a woman there are no men in the game, not that it matters, to be honest
It does not, but pattern recognition suggests otherwise - if it is in the game for no reason other than to check boxes - it does not belong and should be rejected. Thing is - the poor writing of today's games are all promoted, written by, produced by - the woke.
Yeah, there is definitely a middle ground here and that doesn't really come trough on an internet where the most extreme opinions are pushed to the top. If you're really interested in what makes makes it bad, in my opinion anyway, it's generally the whole thing where they act all inclusive but then try to exclude anyone with an even slightly different opinion and label them as the worst people in the world. You're right that gay doesn't mean "that word", but there are ways to do it you know. Example, Nimona is a great movie and the gay part actually adds something, as opposed to for example Star Trek Discovery, where it's constantly pushed in your face and one of the two gay characters is actually really annoying. Then you have The Orville which also had a gay couple that was really good and added something to show (I'm trying to avoid spoilers here). And then there is Star Trek Strange New Worlds, that had a presumably non-binary (they don't actually go into it but they clearly are) character, vs again Star Trek Discovery which has an extremely annoying binary character (the young Trill one, not the mechanic, the mechanic is okay) that is so bad and whiny it makes an already very grating show completely unwatchable. The difference is that Star Trek Discovery is trying to check their boxes, they're forcing these things in without really thinking about how to make it good or have any sort of impact. And this totally ruins the show. While these other examples made it good, both by using it as plot devices that made sense, where unexpected, and interesting, or by downplaying it as totally normal and not a big deal, like Erica in Star Trek Strange New Worlds which was actually a fantastic character. But when they're just doing it for the sake of checking boxes it tends to make things bad, at least worse than it had to be, and that ruins things, when it ruins things it leaves a bad taste and after a while you might even miss out on good stuff just because your mind goes "oh, it's one of those, skip". And that way it's actually causing more division than it's solving. Thing is, extremes don't really grow without equally extreme opposition, so both sides of this is issue are just stuck in an endless exponential feedback loop. And then the majority of us, the normal in the middle people, end up suffering the consequences in the form of really bad and annoyingly preachy media. Not to mention that this practice is dangerous because it's over-representation, something that leads the general public into thinking it's a lot more common than it actually is. And then some people will start seeing it as a serious threat, and that leads to fear, which leads to anger, and from there bad things happen. So what this over-representation in media actually does is creating an unsafe environment for an already vulnerable group. But they don't even see it like that, all they see is their on ego shouting at the top of their lungs about how morally superior they are while simultaneously doing all the same things they're accusing, often wrongfully, others of doing. You want a good example of a game that wants to be progressive but turned out to just be hateful and bigoted, then check out Dustborn, it's a much better example than Concord.
Most of them are insane tbf x3
I think that the primary criteria is: Is a game fun to play or not? If it's fun, I'd play it. If it's not, I'd avoid it. When the messaging becomes preachy, it ruins the fun. Otherwise, I don't especially care about it.
The big dilemma is that you usually have to spend money on a game to buy it in order to try it, and people don't want to give money to a game they don't support.
So then we have to trust media of the game which may not reliably convey the gameplay feel or trust reviewers/journos, which we mostly know by now may not be the most reliable.
i am glad to see a fellow normal person.
when does it become preachy or unacceptable for you ? at what point does it go from okay to too much ? like whats the threshold ?

Good for him, imagine having to go through each of those, being ripped off by each of the devs that openly despise you.

Type E = Eldar physiology
Look up the definition of woke and realize people are trying to change the definition of a word for there own means
"the closet is glass" i love that metaphor LMAO i was not expecting the dating sims on the list
They’ve become one and the same.
Yeah, straight here but I enjoy read Yuri manga and games for entertainment, never once I think they're woke.
But tbf, Japan yuri genre just not as preachy nor condescending as western L genre (which I don't enjoy)
Mmm I wonder why this comment didn't get hearted? Oh well.
Can the silly model hold tea? Does it have sunglasses?
@@whoahanant Yes…”realistic”….in a fantasy world.
Moron.
So here's a quick explanation:
"Woke" is a coined term from political progressive parties in reference of being awakened or enlightened about a topic (typically in favor of progressive policies).
Even you need a good example look no further than Duskborn, but other establishment and policies also follow this mindset to lesser degrees like:
•Ubisoft AC shadows where a black African man is slaughtering Japanese to the tune of hiphop.
•Sweet baby & black girl gamers forceful race swappings and racial quotas.
•Star wars Rey series and nonsensical acolyte.
•The gross stereotyping from Robyn Hood.
•Medical hospitals unequal entry based on race.
•Dylan Mulvaney skipping around the woods in high heels and running from bugs
•ect ect
I always knew woke to be relative to conspiracy than progressive

Do your research next time instead of pretending you know what you’re talking about
Women and minorities? In MY video games? GRRR /s
I just woke up .. oops guess I'm a woke now huh? 😮💨
Gamer got jealous that a digital Helldiver cutscene got a functioning family than him
Honestly speaking, for me personally, if they wanted to stick with the “body type” differentiator, they should have Four types for default choices, rather than two.
Nothing makes me roll my eyes harder nowadays than adjectives that didn't exist 50 years ago.
This pretty much. Hell, the're using Vetiligio too now.
Fairly certain it’s a false flag to discredit the people who call out the bs
I can see the issue. This is basically Poe's Law in a nice package.

When i heard "You might not like Jeffery. . ." the only thing that went though my mind was ". . . Epstein??"
22:08 awesome point about this, there’s a few characters who’re gay and are subtly placed to make social commentary about stuff like “don’t ask don’t tell” (major knight in Mojave outpost)
Or Veronica, who’s personal struggle with her faction is based on the fact her sexuality is at odds with tradition, so in my opinion they made solid characters with experiences a lot of homosexual players could potentially relate to, with Veronica specifically highlighting social and religious trauma around being gay and not accepted by your family, she loves her faction, but she’s hurt because they don’t allow her to who love who she does, why? Because she can’t have a baby with another woman, and that’s all the faction cares about, if that sounds familiar, you might be from America lmao (this is not just an American experience)
Mass Effect 2007. Nuke levels of woke. Gays, lesbians, none gendered aliens. Amazing game. And their sexuality didn't matter because the Reapers were coming!
From what I know woke was supposed to be a term that refers to people who went out of their way to become knowledgeable on history that isn't normally taught, but nowadays it seems people use it as a term to refer to people who come off as overly liberal in different avenues.
Honestly it's the fact that it is being forced into everything when it's a minority of the population only because companies see it as profitable that is Honestly tiring out people but just my thoughts on it
I don't even like woke stuff but most of those games aren't even that woke tbh 😭
Most aren’t. This list is 1 of 2 things. A troll, or an extreme knee jerk reaction to the woke shit.
But, to be fair, games like bloons and cod aren’t inherently woke, they just push woke messaging through optional items that you can use in the game. There’s a difference between a normal “pride” flag and that ridiculous flag that’s somehow supposed to include black and brown people.
i think people just want to stop seeing and hearing about woke stuff they just need a break but they cant
I'd like to hear what the person who made the list thinks of the real world.
Was this made by syntheticman?
MADE by Synthetic Man? This list is the embodiment of Synthetic Man. It is Synthetic Man's soul in digital form.

Heres my hot take
Who the fuck cares?
Bad games can be created by anyone with any political agenda
A game being "Anti-woke" does not make it fun, In fact most games that lean into that shit are TERRIBLE
Is game fun? Yes, Play it
Is game unfun? Yes, Do not play it
End of
Granted, it can be less fun if it feels like they're aggressively preaching.
Ya this video is crazy. Really shows off what too much can look like.
So I do consider the pride flag as woke, but to get rid of it from cosmetics would not make people happy either so I don’t care as much
the gay flag... is a political symbol...
@jesuszamora6949 it's not misplaced in that case. It wold be in something like elden ring or COD
@jesuszamora6949 yea they're clowns for putting Nikki in the game but I was just using CoD and ER as examples. I dont really think they're woke
39:02 Itˋs Warhammer. Dudes Welding themself into mechsuits. Wouldnˋt you trust someone more that does the same shit. I donˋt see wamen welding themself into mechsuits. The point is : Itˋs overkill anyway so way not get bossed around by a Veteran that welded his ass in a mechsuit.
Bad design and writing gets covered up by agenda and the defense force is the people that caters to.
I do think the lists are sincere, because well , people have different opinions and the "Anti-woke" crowd are not some monolith
You have those who just want games to avoid OVERLY going into politics (Some is fine if your game involve that , If a mystery game came out and a main plot point was set during the stonewall riots I think some level of politics would be fine)
While others want well Women, trans , gay , black e.t.c removed from gaming in general
I think the people calling it a Psy op are just trying to distance one group from there group because it makes your group look bad, but lets be honest
There is a shit ton of hate in the "Anti-woke" movement , I can respect your opinions but as soon as you deny that the movement your passionate about does not have its darker side, the less sincere you are to me .
The movement has its homophobic element , Its racist element etc
I found something in the list that I thought was funny. This is what the list says about Library of Ruina.
"Contains subtly anti-capitalism, subtly pro-transhumanism and subtly pro-LGBTQA plus messaging. Heavy social commentary regarding economic struggle, class differences, and human augmentation."
"Girls being with girls is not woke" some random guy somewhere xD
I usually go by how something makes me feel when I experience it in real time. If something they do is considered woke and I get a fucked up feeling about it I just drop the game. There’s decent games that have progressive themes and characters, but when shit like Veilguard happens that’s the fuckin line.
That's why I brought it and enjoyed playing it day 10:27
the way i see woke is when they're shoving in it your face to the point of making the entire game about the "message". i don't care who you want to have sex with, personally i think that sex should be private.
ngl i cant tell if actman is taking the piss at it or no but he comes off as if hes saying "theres no woke in video games" when there clearly is all you gotta do is look at Dragon Age The Veilguard that literally has top surgery scars in a franchise that is literally established in lore people use magic to shapeshift.
he also mentioned award winning but its no secret western companies love to essentially jerk each other off in this award ceremonies on how virtuous they are because they added "inclusivity" while porpously leaving games that come from asian countries out intentionally just because they dont fit their agenda.
there are moments where its taken to far to say that pretty much everything is woke but there are way to many points on the graf at this point that make several lines
He's clearly making fun of that list, the person/people who wrote it, and the people who will take that list as genuine and at face value.
dude your tisim is showing, he's just making fun of the list. he clearly at the star mention that company's do sometimes try to push agendas.

Hex looking like a cute felt doll.
I love this, new?, model. Also this list is insane.
Oh my goddo is the "SUBSCRIBE!" model
1:40 None of the lists are made in good faith.
Everything is a psyop when you don't like it. 🤭
For example: Baldur's Gate 3, Spiderman 2 , Hogwarts Legacy and GoW Ragnarok all had elements that some people would describe as 'woke' but I didn't care because it felt natural and not performative.
The delivery of this part is peak entertainment. 😂❤ 23:45
The Act Body Type 1, lost all credibility after attacking AZ(HeelvsBabyFace). I can't trust him. I don't recommend watching him. I don't care how charismatic he is.
woke? in my video games? continues happily playing warframe where the current story arc is around a gay time traveler
who care if hes gay, warframe is all about that awsume game-play and grind and honestly interesting stories. characters sexual preference is the bottom tier of worries or care. good writing and great game-play loop takes priority overall
Asmongold streamed the Alex Jones game, and it was hilarious
I think an issue with the term woke being mainstream is different things are woke (which I read as being too progressive or liberal to make sense or is offensive)
To someone who legitmately is disgusted by lgbt people, a male flirting with a male is offensive.
Great, sane commentery Hex.

Hexjuice bein' a widdle gurl...
Truth is as well because of irl population count.

he took on purpose a list by dumbasses.
Its very different.
jeffrey out here catchin strays
jeffrey sucks and looks like a human picasso painting
When are we getting the femboy Hex
Futa is a woman with both parts

Harry Potter is just the example she used in the video.
if there's a list then it's insincere, look i hate wokeness and pushing gendas as much as the next gamer, but people are taking this too far, this is so stupid
Edit - personally about body types, how about we just have like 5 man bodies and 5 woman bodies and have height and skin customizable like we always have, just put Man 1, Man 2 and so on... or have the whole thing customizable like we used to have anyway too
but let's be honest, no one atually gives a shit about body types aside from weirdos, they're just putting body type 1 and 2 to not say man and woman, i don't really care, never have, i look for the model i like and pick that, how many people actually read that?
Also, Huniepop is kinda gay because, you can be a woman and every romance option is a woman there are no men in the game, not that it matters, to be honest
FIRST? FIRST.
Lmaoooo this is so funny
