    Great video. I just got a sewing machine and this was the first project I have attempted and I am so happy with the result. Your video was so easy to follow and perfect for a beginner.

    liked the way she explained all the steps one by one and also included the inches of the hems and how much for casing allowed for allowance. Wonderfully explained and shown very simply. I understood all the steps very clearly. And most of all the measurements explained for hems, sides and casing. Good job. Good teacher.

    Thanks for your clear instruction! We just bought a house and I have been wanting to make custom valances for some time. Just completed the first one for our half bath, per your video, and it turned out great.

    Thank you for the very informative video. Note for others that are using a 2 1/2" curtain rod....I made my top pocket with a 5 inch hem and then measured up 3 1/4" and sewed the seam for the rod pocket. This left roughly 1 5/8" at the top which looks very nice when using the larger curtain rod and gives you plenty of room for ruffling.

    I really enjoyed watching this video and learned a lot. My one question is this: can you tell me what is the length (I know the width varies as you said with personal preference) of this valance? Is it like 13, 14, 15, inches long? I am new at this and cannot figure out that part. Thanks-it is a nice video.

    • @Needlepointers
      @Needlepointers  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. So sorry for not responding before this. The length of the valance is really a personal choice and depends on the the size of a window. The valances I made for my kitchen windows are a finished length of approximately 12 inches.

    Great tutorial. I have found that if I use a flat rod of 3” if I make the casing 3” it’s too tight to gather. Should I make the casing 3.25 or 3.5”? What do you suggest?

    • @Needlepointers
      @Needlepointers  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, absolutely. I think probably 3.5" would be best. And thanks for watching our video. Please subscribe to our channel so you don't miss future videos.

    Excellent instructions. I liked how it speeded up when you were sewing, so we could see what was happening, but did not have to watch for long periods. It would have been nice to see the curtain hang in the window and to see your smilling face at the end. Otherwise, very well done. Thank you!

      Diane Larkin Very easy to follow of all video's I have watched. Can you tell me if I get material 54 inches could I cut it in half to only have to get half the number of yards needed?

    Your casing looks too large for your rod, and is not very attractive. You either should have used a larger rod or made a smaller rod pocket and made a larger top ruffle.
