Marielle and Megan discuss chapters 1-5 of February's BotM, That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon by Kimberly Lemming.

We meet our heroine, Cinnamon, who is a spice trader. She is drunk at the village festival, celebrating not being the one chosen by the goddess Myva to be a champion and fight off the demons.

She later rescues a man on her way home, who it appears was injured in a landslide. Turns out he's not a man, he's a demon, and he tells her to RUN, as he transforms before her eyes, and chases her down.

She manages to get away that night by swinging the branch of a cinnamon tree into his face. In the morning, he appears at her kitchen window, fully lucid, asking what that branch was and where he can get more, as it allows him control over himself.

Turns out their "goddess" Myva, is actually a powerful, undead sorcerer, and the humans have been helping her all these years by worshipping her. Oops. The demon, Fallon, needs Cin to help him destroy Myva's temple and break her chalice to release her power. And he's not giving her much of a choice...
