July 2024 Book of the Month Recap Discussion - Chp. 11-End

Marielle and Megan discuss chapters 11-End of July's BotM, The Midsummer Bride by Kati Wilde.

Elina ventures onward, alone. She's rethinking every interaction with Warrick, but she also can't believe he hasn't come after her yet...
Days turn to weeks, and in her dreams at night she can feel Warrick, and he's always telling her to tie the ribbon! Then she wakes up alone, and is sad again.

Warrick is heartbroken watching her suffer. He tries again to put the ribbon in front of her, and this time, she sees it! But she tells herself she's foolish. There's no magic, and no one has ever really loved her. Then she throws the ribbon in the fire!😭💔

When they reach the glass mountains there are many ghosts. The obsidian acts like mirrors, and Elina can actually see some of them for herself. Then, she sees Warrick! He tells her about the cut ribbon and all that has happened. He loves her, and he's been with her this whole time.
She takes the axe to the obsidian and brings a big chunk with her so she can continue to see him.

As they pass through the final valley before they reach Aleron, they have to fight off a demon, and Sgt. Iarthil shows up to help. He and Elina have it out, and then he sacrifices himself fighting another demon so Warrick and Elina can get away. Warrick slips and she's worried he's fallen in the water but she still can't see him! She screams out to the gods, "You cannot take him from me! He's mine! Everything he is, is mine." Then all of a sudden she can see him again, dangling from a sheer cliff. He climbs up and they bang it out right there!🔥

After, Warrick notices she now has the same ward on her hip, as he does. She is now protected from spells. So they head to confront her uncle, and they win. They've got a big job ahead putting her people & lands back together.

There's an epilogue 3 years later, which is perfection, and we just completely LOVE this story!! We hope you did too!!
