Nostalgic SUMMERTIME at Lake Balaton: Siófok | Hungary Travel Guide

- Siófok is often called the Capital of Lake Balaton. It is an easy 1,5 hour train ride from Budapest making access to the "Hungarian Sea" very easy. Siófok is a popular Summertime destination for Hungarians thanks to it's 17 km long shore with many beaches. In this video, we'll show you what Summertime is like at lake Balaton and why you should visit this wonderful region!
If you are looking for a place to chill during the hot summers of Hungary, lake Balaton is probably the best place to visit, and Siófok is one that is super if you want to relax, take your family to the beach or party with your friends.
And although Siófok is often recommended only for its beaches, it has a unique history with many fun facts to learn about. Many Hungarian intellectuals enjoyed the waters here and created their own unique summertime villas here, some famous Hungarian artists were born here as well, and the area was important for Eastern and Western Germans during the time of the iron curtain. Plus the name Siófok also has sort of a funny past. With this video we hope to inspire you to take time and visit this place, and understand the nostalgic feelings it evokes for us Hungarians.

Loved watching this video! 2023-ban voltam Sóstóban és 2022-ben voltam Balatonvilágosban, úgyhogy, Siófok a legismerősebb Balatoni hely nekem. Szeretettem a vízibiciklit a strandnál és, persze, mindennap lángost ettem és ... talán túl sok sört ittam :D Tényleg, vissza akarok térni Balatonra, egyszer majd!
A Balaton tényleg szuper jó hely, és még sok más szép hely van körülötte mint Tihany, Badacsony, Keszthely és sok szép kis falu 😊 érdemes lesz vissza térned 😊

ich liebe die selbst bewußten Ungarn, das Land und den Balaton, meinen letzten Urlaub habe ich in Siofok verbracht...herrlich
Gibts da noch mehr zu sehen als Discotheken und den Wasserturm? Siofok ist doch eher klein.
E-Bikes angemietet, um den Balaton nach Tihany gefahren und zurück. Pferdekutschenturnier unterwegs besucht. Natürlich kein Eintrittsgelder. Im September fliegen wir wieder von Lxbg. nach Wien und von dort aus mit dem Bus der Zahnklinik nach Masonmagyarovar. Als ü 65 fahre ich in ganz Ungarn kostenlose, ÖPNV und im ZUGVERKEHR::

@@hanslamberti4654 ja in füred auch, aber wenn du nichts weiter tun kannst, die stadt dir nichts bietet, wird es schnell langweilig.

Yes, in the recent years the water quality improved a lot and i really recommend checking out any place near the Lake :)
Love this video, brings back memories. I’ve been to places all around the Balaton, as a kid I spent a lot of time with my parents and family in the family holidayhouse in Csopak, right across the lake from Siófok. Later I went camping several times with friends from both The Netherlands and Hungary in Balatonakarattya, Alsóőrs, Badacsony, Balatonberény and Zamárdi. Balatonfüred and Siófok were the main places to shop, hang out and party … Also, I’m still waiting for a winter severe enough for the lake to freeze over. The Dutch half of me wants to skate from Csopak to Siófok at least once in my lifetime 😜
The lake Froze this year too, but not enough to walk across, that happened a few years ago I believe. This year it was only good for some amazing Instagram photos :)

On my 4 years living here, I feel like this year summer is the coldest and wettest 😔

Everything got to expensive. Not as much Germans visit Hungary / Balaton as it was in the 90 s.
And most of them from east. Not west.

Funny how tourist make this place seem all cool, but the place itself sucks, I been living here for a year now, hopefully not for long.
