This is realy the BEST evet model railway display I have ever seen as it's so real and done so very well. I watched this over and over and over again many times. I don't have to own an expensive setup like this, if could watch this one whenever I want to!!
Wow, absolutely love the layout and the scenery, very impressed. 😁 One of the best layouts & videos I have seen lately. 100% 🇦🇺 Do have done a great job modelling US railroads overseas
Hey there I like to say You have an outstanding N scale layout I would say it's the best video I have ever seen I really like those CSX and BNSF Double Stack Trains you have ran on this great layout in. N scale And I liked all of those Containers of CSX and CN and those Pacer Stack Train Containers and a few BN Containers and I saw some other trains on that N scale Layout I would like to say if all N scale Layout I have seen on all videos I will say this N scale layout and this video is the best I have ever seen Well I m hoping to see another video of this N scale layout in the future I wished I can meet this person who built this N scale layout I really like the trees on this layout as well I would say all areas in this layout are really are so great in my books And I really enjoyed the trains that were running on the layout and that's for sure and thank you for making and showing this video to us model Railroad Fans
Sorry for the fast speed, but there are several reasons to do so: 1 - It looks much more better and gives the clip alot of action, that means, it is not boring -just imagine a long train that needs over 5 minutes to pass by ;-) 2 - In Switzerland, we are used to run trains at a higher speed, because of the prototype (over 140km/h). Nevertheless, I hope you still like my layout including the speed of trains. Best regards from Zurich.
I have still, all packed away, many of the Kato N-scale locos and stack train cars shown here. Really well done layout as well as video! Makes me want to get it out and get something going again. I would take my 5 year old son at the time to train shows and we'd bring about 7 locos and 75 cars or so, and the door people would let us in for free as they thought we were part of the vendors. People let us operate our train on their tracks a lot! We even got to operate a Shinkensen train and a long modern freight at The Griffith Park Travel Town N-scale layout all by ourselves one day. Great video!
This is your first layout...? Faaaaaannntassic...WoW...In 'N' scale no less...I do model work for film and this is just beyond the beyond...THANKS FOR PUTTING THIS UP...!
Just what I want to start building. Great job for a first and I only wished my first four looked as good... The panorama and scope, the merging tracks, and the long trains do mesmerize.. Congratulations!!
I am quite impressed with your love of US railroads. You've invested a small fortune in KATO (as have I). The dubbed sound is quite fun, and I really enjoy the lush, thick forests you've created. Some of it (details of power lash-ups, etc) are not "proto-typical", but who cares? You obviously enjoy the hobby and embrace the fundamental aspect of this hobby, which is FUN and ENJOYMENT! Well done!
EXCELLENT! And I LOVE the speed! Maybe it's the artfully blended audio, but it's nice to see a long train of doublestacks hauled by big modern diesels doing what they really do - rip up the rails at 69 mph! Some of those scenes, I swear I could smell the exhaust and feel the ground shake under my feet as those container cars thundered past. There are times to slow down, and times to push the throttle to the max. You've got the right type of trains and era for 'feeding the need for speed'!
Wow that’s a lot of containers…..man they are so quick also…. I like your layout and scenery….. wish I count trade a few of my covered hopper cars for some of your well cars and containers.
What a beautiful layout-thank you very much for sharing this :) The amount of time, effort, skill, and love that went into this is very admirable. Thanks again!
Thank you for your comment. Today this layout doesnt exist anymore. But fortunately I was able to rent two rooms. Have a look at my other videos on my channel. Best regards
I'm just starting to watch these videos on youtube and just starting to get into the hobby, but I have to say this is the BEST video I've seen on here so far! Great work! You took a lot of time to do it right and match the sounds to the trains (or vice versa) perfectly! Thanks for a wonderful experience!
For your 1st layout, you show a lot of skill designing, constructing and running this 'empire', it's brilliant and great to see some real 'highballing' speed as the real intermodals do. Video work and sound so convincing you should be marketing this!!
Lots of action is right! The problem in general with model railroading is realism. This is pretty close. Just about all model freight trains are not near as long as real trains, therefore, we usually run them a little slower. I love how fast these trains go!
Wow, whenever I need to get my fix of Doublestacks I will always go to this video. Thanks for posting it, you did a great job dubbing the sound to the video.
right about 3:10 that hotshot inter-modal consist is flying by the other freight! Just like I've seen them do on the local U.P (formerly C&NW) tracks in DeKalb, IL. It looks really great! Excellent job!
So eine Anlage hätte ich auch gerne. Super gefällt mir. Bin doch nicht der einzige AMI-Fan in der Schweiz. Wünsche Dir weiterhin viel Freude. Gruss Bruno
start with a train and some track and a table, then build scenery, and a better track plan, the you can work on structures, weathering projects, and moving objects
start with the video game trainz... you can drive trains and make your own layouts and its easy to get started..... and you can download free stuff like train engines and buildings etc and have as many layouts as you want
Crazy Gravy ....u start with the track...i can't see people's comments so if someone else said that....then u need to start with ur track layout.....lol it's a blast!!!!!
Start simple and build up. Buy an engine and a few cars and enough track to at least make a loop to start. Not a bad idea to buy a decent transformer right away though, as it will make your life much easier when you decide to 'expand'.
OK. This is the best N-scale layout and video I think I've ever seen, except maybe for one guy that had a pretty much BN dedicated layout you probably know of, and this might be better. Fantastic job!
A very pleasant way to spend part of a Sunday afternoon. Sorry you get nitpickers criticising , but that's life . I run my very poor quality layout for my own pleasure . Your layout is excellent . Ta.
...Especially the ones going side x side in the same direction and in the city yard (old warehouse scene) Great job on your layout but would be nice to see speed restriction signs and target lights as well.
Sad to see that it's not in existence anymore. I liked seeing the long trains. I have lived near the BNSF and UP main lines running through Iowa over the years. Coal trains and to a lesser extent intermodals do tend to run exclusive to their type (ie. all coal or all intermodal), we still see a lot of mixed consist types of trains such as intermodal mixed with tankers, grain hoppers, refrigerated, auto haulers, etc. Adding some of these types of consists would increase the realism.
Excellent video. I'm just starting my Kato N scale DC layout and I have been wondering about the particular function of the switches. Very informative! Thank you
Well, the price of this bridge was around 140 CHF (Approx 120 USD) It is Faller Kit "Bietschtalbrücke". The original bridge is located in Switzerland on the south ramp of the Lötschberg line between Brig and the Lötschberg tunnel. I have heard that there is a quite similar bridge somewhere in Nevada.
They do that here in the U.S. too...Helper "engines" are used for "up hill" sections and then the helpers return so they can help the next train up the grade...
It's called a mid-train helper, or "distributed power", these days. For really long freights in hilly terrain, it's not unusual to have 4 at the head, 3-4 near the middle, and another 3-4 nearer the end. On modern trains, they can be all controlled from the front end, though if they're only needed over a short distance they can be manually controlled, too.
Thanks alot for your nice comments. Unfortunately, this layout does not exist anymore. But I am planing a new one. Trakplans are not existing, sorry. The max. radius in the helix is 60 cm. When construction will be startet, I will produce another video. Best regards Thom.
drewditty unfortunately, I had to demolish it, since it was to big to move. I will start (as soon as Atlas can deliver its code 55 track) a new layout, maybe a little lager than this one.
By the way, the video below announced will be provided with german titles. Here are some words translated: The link is supposed to mean: On the new train line between Rothrist and Mattstetten by the bi-level train "IC-2000" Words: Ost - East Abfahrt nach - Departure to Gleisüberwerfung - Track over crossing Verzweigung - Junction Vierspurstrecke - 4 track line Brücke - Bridge Best regards Thom
@@rongalloway7809 I have no room to criticize this, since I doubt I could build this nice a layout, but I would run the trains at scale speed and not be concerned about showing the passing of an entire train in a video shot. I really like the sound effects of this video, too. Thank you for sharing it, Eggerfilm 2010. You do amazing model work!
Sorry if its been asked, but there's a lot to read. What are the dimensions of the room this layout is in, and is there a track plan to view? I love the long trains, this an amazing railroad.

Now that is some serious freight moving. GREAT STUFF!

Beautiful layout and awesome video! Thanks!
excellent movie of lay out. beautiful scenery

I like the intermodal stuff too! Nice job. Need some JB Hunt containers on there lol.
A very pleasant way to spend part of a Sunday afternoon. Sorry you get nitpickers criticising , but that's life . I run my very poor quality layout for my own pleasure . Your layout is excellent . Ta.
This is an AMAZING layout, but do yourselves a huge favor and slow them trains down for more realism. Aside from that...excellent work!
...Especially the ones going side x side in the same direction and in the city yard (old warehouse scene) Great job on your layout but would be nice to see speed restriction signs and target lights as well.
NOOO FASTER IS BETTER
That's the fun part of model railroading you can run your railroad however you want :-) It's fun to make them go fast sometimes.
Yeah other than that its like real life!

Thank you Richard. I wish you a lot of fun building your new layout.
Very impressive!
wery nice horn, wery nice sound, wery nice container car
Excellent video! When/if I win the lottery, I am going to build a layout with container cars.
Sounds so real!!!
That's also some big bucks in top notch stack cars and locos. Each three unit Kato stack car was $65 10 years ago, and the locos were about $110 each.
I like the scene where the Santa Fe Stack train overtakes the Conrail freight. That's cool. Mike in Fresno, Ca.

+Eggerfilm2010 I've been investigating how to build a railroad layout and found an awesome website at Jareks Hobby Club (check it out on google)
Will the new layout have double track for races and meets still?
I SUBSCRIBED AND TUNERD ON NOTIFICATIONS AND LIKE YOUR VIDEO
These locomotives go all the way up to notch 11!
Also, I rarely see consists of only tankers, or only box cars anymore. I hope your new layout turns out as well for you as this one did.

Very nice use of the sound effects, made n scale not seem so small :)
pretty badass!
2:55 Awesome scene. Nice Layout
Man, that's a LOT of money in trains. Great layout, but have to agree with the speed issue.
Wow, great quality
