    Gonna add my comment too. This is great stuff. Having grown up with a hoarder, I'm always looking for encouraging and instructive information on cleaning and organizing, but a lot of the content out there is only practical to a certain level of clutter. You, on the other hand, are helping people to move mountains. Thank you, sir!

      Thanks! I believe the most sustainable organizing system is built on an easy process of prioritization. You have to prioritize to organize. Hope this video helps prioritize your paper and your home office.

I love steps and procedures when it comes to things I don't know much about, like this. Hi Matt, I recently found your channel and I really appreciate all of your tips, tricks and practical solutions. Intuitively, I had always declutterred in a space away from the room that needed decluttering. Somehow that helped me think more clearly and the space I was processing in wasn’t as overwhelming. • @normh151

    Matt excellent tips, very practical and efficient. I tried something similar say 50%-70% of the way often trying to sort/organize "my way".... but not so refined and sloppy, trying to put all my categories and sort, but on the floor! I do not end up fully sorting often as I have to put things back "somewhere" as I don't have time to sort it all before the week starts. Then the mess often starts again with X% done. I never thought of investing in boxes, as that's reasonable and the cost of $20-$30 for set of 10 banker boxes really makes working/sorting so much cleaner and less overwhelming than seeing all my clutter on the ground-carpet...sprawl to my living room. I have a small apartment so looks horrible. Thank you so much! I'm excited to try this method to fully declutter/detox my home workspace! I subscribed to your channel, I hope you will get more viewers/subscribers, such great advice! Have a great day!

    • @MattBaierOrganizing
      @MattBaierOrganizing  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the kind words Norm. The idea of the banker boxes is to create a middle ground between chaos and finish systems. They prevent regression in the process and help create a scoreboard for a more finish solution.

    • @normh151
      @normh151 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MattBaierOrganizing Yes so true, it definitely reduces the chaos, when I visually see the mess it's so much input it's hard to focus. Your method really helps. I also liked the visual cues for areas for review/keep/exit/empty. It gives things in progress a home in the interim.

    What’s your take on scanning documents as opposed to keeping physical copies? I bought an awesome super fast Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner a few months ago. I use it periodically but the real plan is to use it during declutering my office. I’m concerned that the time it will take to name the files may outweigh the benefits but the thought of getting rid of the paper wherever possible is very attractive.

    • @MattBaierOrganizing
      @MattBaierOrganizing  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Jeff, sorry for the slow reply. The first question is, do you really need everything to be digital or are you hoping that everything will be suddenly automatic. I'm not suggesting that you are confusing the two, but many people do. If you realize that it takes some work to scan your files and account for them and remember to pay certain bills that can't be automatic, then scanning could be the right option. I still think it makes to discard the files that are of no value and store the remote need files more remotely, before scanning the files you want to find reliably and files you want to act upon. Hope this helps.
