Lovely presentation. You are empathetic, helpful, and way less gimmicky than many other perfectly lovely organizers. Some of us need that humanity and calm.
I couldn't have written a better comment myself. Thank you so much. This really means a lot. It's exactly how I hope to come across; I couldn't be anything else if I tried!
I think part of the organising process is NOT doing it alone! Exactly why we have failed every time previously. Getting someone's observations and emotional support in such a major task is the key to even starting. Someone being there with us down on all fours sorting out our lives-the very missing link! And here you are in these videos giving us the virtual emotional support and the great tips to help us start again on the journey. You are doing a great service being our external pair of kindly eyes journeying right beside us. Thank you! ❤
That warms my heart! You've really captured the essence of the work. I have a lot of good ideas and technical know-how, but I agree that the most valuable asset is focus and support. More than giving advice, I sit with people as they generate their own best ideas that never would have happened on their own. Thank you.
I've been slowly decluttering since I retired. and I've saved the best [lol] for last....Paper!! I never used my front door or front closet and am in the process of taking the rod out and installing several more shelves for all my binders, folders and paperwork. it will always be a work in progress. My goal is to have less and to know where everything is.
Oh good! Not enough Organizers share the temporary parts of the process - and there are many! Temporary systems are necessary to reach the permanent ones. Thanks for watching. 😉
Thanks, Kacy! Your show and tell approach is so encouraging and inspiring. I love how being guided by individual needs uncovers so much practical creativity. ❤️🙂
In process of getting ready to move so I have a bookcase that just has boxes of books on it that I can remove and use for vertical sorting. Never would have thought of that. Have been so overwhelmed with all this paper and nowhere to sort it. Thank you so much! 😊
I have a two drawer filing cabinet in my room and I’m working on getting it down to one box filing. This was very helpful. It’s a long project in a sense that I only put in about half an hour maybe 15 minutes here and there. I rent a room so my room is the only space I have so I have to maximize everything to its fullest. Thank you again for your tips. Look forward to seeing progress in my room.
I've been steadily de-cluttering papers, next up hanging a thrifted wall unit with 6 file folder pockets for current projects. Thanks for all the inspiration!
Wonderful! Glad to see you are back on youtube. Just inspired me to take a look at my pile. I will thank you with my bags of shredded paper later on this weekend!
I like to use those collapsible bins to sort things into. I sort mostly by date/year. Other organizing channels talk about sorting by “action” (things that need more immediate, within that month) attention....bills, coupons, birthdays coming up, etc. Then by short term (bills already paid, etc), and the Long Term (insurance policies, Taxes, etc). Then of course there are sentimental things. Most everything else can be chucked! It’s definitely a work in progress, always ongoing! TYFS ❤️🦋💜
Kacy, your channel and approach is unique and timely, if you have the bandwidth, would love to see more videos on what the "work looks like"! I am going through all of my parents' paperwork from the 50s through last year. The room with Bankers' boxes and walls/bookshelves of paperwork resonated with me and my situation!
Oh my goodness - nearly all of my video ideas are for "what the work looks like." I think those are far more helpful than before/after photos. People need to see that there are lots of ways to do the work! I find that a lot of my clients are highly motivated, but they don't know what to do. I'll show you what to do. Thanks for visiting!
Binders or files? Would you please offer any insights if there are reasons to use one or the other? I’ve always used file folders /hanging folders, but there was a moment when I thought it might be good to use binders based on Lisa Woodward’s system, organized 365. I really tried to give it a go. I went back to file folders and folders, I couldn’t figure it out.
I met Lisa Woodward once! Love her. I've found that binders don't work for most of my clients. If binders are in any way already working (and I mean, really working), then we run with it. If not, then I never encourage someone to become a binder person. I think they're good in theory, but in practice can be too fussy.
I had similar situation.. sold a set of pricey books...the buyer contacts me saying it hadn't been delivered but after checking tracking found it was delivered I also had it sent it signature confirmation so I think this person got mad because he couldn't say he didn't get the item so then he had a problem with the cost of shipping so I refunded half shipping but mind you I didn't set the shipping charges eBay did anyways in the end found out this person isn't in united states and the address was his supposed roommate so yeah I feel like I got scammed but you live and learn
How long do you need to keep medical insurance payments? Also, what is the best way to sort the. As they do not always go by date of service as it depends on when offices do their billing so the are out of date order.
Do you mean explanations of benefits or paid medical bills? It depends. Most people keep the substantive medical papers that help them to track their medical history (lab results, docs' notes, etc.), and toss paid medical bills immediately or after a year or so. Some people keep certain medical bills b/c they help them to fill in the blanks on their medical history. If you paid enough in medical bills for a tax deduction, you'll want to keep those for at least 3 years. Check with your accountant on all of this. These are just norms, and many people are exceptions to the norm. I hope that gives you a place to start.
@@KacyPaide I got a bill 2 yrs after the fact & had paid it but they had no record of it! Fortunately, I had proof that it had been paid. Although, they had a cancelled check it had been applied to some account. That's the problem .... 1 key stroke off and you could find yourself in a mess. I have most all my health hx because I'm complicated & have lots of MD's in alot of specialists. It's good to have a paper trail because I've already had another major problem that I had no proof of any attempt to address it except when I had my documentation. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't have had anything to reference as companies, hospitals, etc. don't keep documentation, test results, etc. after 7 yrs.

Thanks for all this inspiration! It's helpful to see these examples of how to approach a backlog of paper.
You're most welcome. I think the best way to teach is through real life examples - and I've got lots of them!

I love this idea. Sound like it will work well for your needs.
I recommend buying a scanner, I have an Epson E500W. Trying to go paperless with just a binder for original docs like car title, insurance docs etc.
The temporary box phase is key. I’m there. Powering on after watching your video!

Thank you! I'm so glad it landed that way. I intended it to be encouraging. I want to show that we're all in this together. 😀

Perfect.... I love hearing this. I hope that vertical sorting space is a huge help.

Happy to help. Thanks for sharing and good luck with the file minimizing.

Wonderful! You're welcome.
This is amazing!! I wish I could do this for others. What a fun approach.
Thank you! I'm glad you think it's fun. I do too.
New subscriber here….now I’m off to binge watch your stuff! Thanks!
Thanks! Enjoy! There are a lot of oldies but goodies in here.
Great info. I love the idea of verticle sorting.
Thank you. Vertical sorting is a life saver sometimes.
Thanks for the video. I appreciate the simple sorting process that becomes a beautiful end result.
You're very welcome!

Hey Victor! Good to be back. Excited to hear that bags of shredded paper are in your near future.
Thank you! I just need to put my hands on my piles and get started!
You are so welcome!

In future videos I'll share a lot about sorting via action vs. filing vs. archives. Thanks for watching.
I found your information kind and helpful
I appreciate hearing that. Thank you!

What would we need to do to prep for your services?
Thx for all you do!
Same to you - thank YOU for all you do for MD. Thanks for dropping by. 😀
Great content. I knew when you came to vertical sorting, that was the system for me.
Thank you! I just light up whenever I see an empty or underutilized shelf. Glad it's helpful.

I am starting with the piles of mail that are all over the first floor of my house.

I understand. I think twice before giving my email address out too.
