I love and so respect how far they went to make these action scenes as real and authentic as possible! They just dont do that anymore. Movies lately lack that suspense you achieve from practical effects
This is real action movie making with real stunts using real people and real cars and explosives. Before cgi began cutting corners and turning good movies into action cartoons.
Wicked film, I love seeing behind the scenes stuff. I didn't know how serious the train stunt was, , life or death, bloody hell. I love the Commando music haha =P
literally astonishing not only what was planned but what they were allowed to do in a city of that size, still amazes me every time I watch it, such an impressive film.
1:50 You could tell it was a pre-9/11 era when the City of New York would green light a film crew to blow up a block of Manhattan rather than on a set.
At around the 4:00 minute mark the theme from Speed starts playing during the talk of the train jumping off the track and them making it go faster a lot like what happened to the train in Speed
"Everyone wants to do bigger, better, and scarier stunts." Cut to: DH1 -- Willis breaks a window with a chair. DH2 -- Willis smacks a guy with a golf club. DH3 Willis jumps in a puddle. Was that really the best clip for "bigger, better, and scarier"?
Well I wouldn't care about a window breaking because who gives a shit about glass. But I wouldn't want to get hit by a golf club. And I REALLY don't won't to get my outfit dirty by jumping in a puddle.
People going on about "real stunts" and "no CGI" don't watch enough behind-the-scenes clips. Real stunt work still gets done. There was still some CGI used in this. Entertainment Weekly even highlighted it in an issue that summer, showing how it was used to make the cars in a chase look like they were closer to each other, or the shot when the taxi almost hit Willis.
Like I said in the first clip/part of (1/2). What a perspective & making of this masterpiece film. A film, that in my honest opinion comes very close to the first film in being the greatest with the first film being first. A legendary cast, storyline, soundtracks, comedy, lots of action, intensity and emotion. Humorous as well. So much to say about this film. Like its a never ending page of words. Bruce Willis as John McClane truly never fails, and adding Samuel really makes it even more dynamic & iconic with there duo/partnership, like who knew it would be perfect chemistry, literally a masterpiece, like who knew they would work so well together. Like I said earlier, sad that they don't make movies like these anymore, truly way ahead of its time, and a great throwback to the original & first film. 4.30.23 (A movie I got myself, for my birthday on the 19th of April alongside my twin brother @E.D). and a great throwback along the many years when we all saw it. Not only that, but even bringing it back to the first its one of the greatest action movies of all time. An iconic, legendary, standout, and amazing film awhich brings it back to the first & orignal film, but not quite the greatest, it falls second in comparison. Truly unforgettable, especially every scene throughout it, which was just so iconic, amazing and so much to say about these films. Like its a never ending page of words. Like if you're picking out a perfect action film to watch that will always make you on the edge of your seat filled with emotion and always focused this one of the best picks/films to watch, starting from the first all the way to the fifth. Just goes to show how advanced this movie was at its time, and how even today keeps up with being the greatest action film of all time, along with the first Die Hard. One word; a masterpiece throwback to the orignal & first film. Miss the times, when the effects were much more realistic & not just done digitally. Thank you so much for uploading this as well, since you can't find this in most verisons of the film as well, like in CD format, or digitally. Only those who watched it originally, has it.
I like Bruce Willis but from what I’ve heard, he’s not an easy guy to work with anymore. I wish he’d put more effort and dedication into his characters in the action movies he does because these were the days where you could tell that he didn’t phone it in. All the Die Hard films were and still are awesome, with the exception of A Good Day to Die Hard. I really wanted to like that one, but I just couldn’t. He just wasn’t John McClane. Hopefully, when and if they make Die Hard 6 or McClane, whatever they title it, Bruce will bring back his heart and effort in McClane for one last time.
You're wasting your time on any other Die Hard other than the first film. It is a classic of the action movie genre. They got it right in that film. The rest of them are all just wanna be's
I love and so respect how far they went to make these action scenes as real and authentic as possible! They just dont do that anymore. Movies lately lack that suspense you achieve from practical effects
RIP practical effects.
So true..😔
Ahhh. Summer 90s New York. Great times. If I had a time machine I go back.
This is real action movie making with real stunts using real people and real cars and explosives. Before cgi began cutting corners and turning good movies into action cartoons.
Yeah you're right action cartoons
Wicked film, I love seeing behind the scenes stuff. I didn't know how serious the train stunt was, , life or death, bloody hell.
I love the Commando music haha =P
Love the Commando and Speed background musics here!
die hard 1 and 3.. just the best..
Especially if their formidable opponent is germans! How about Russians, they're even more formidable!
Yes I agree
McTiernan
literally astonishing not only what was planned but what they were allowed to do in a city of that size, still amazes me every time I watch it, such an impressive film.
They don’t make em like they use to
This is how Vic Morrow died in 1982. I believe his last words were, "They should have used a stuntman for this."
A film that was ahead of it's time, what a great context this gives man, thanks.
Part of my teenage years.. Before internet and streaming i had a few VHS tapes. This was one of the few i had.. Seen this hundreds of times..
Every once in awhile when I think about Die Hard 3, I see if I can still solve the two water bottle problem.
lol the commando music
1:50 You could tell it was a pre-9/11 era when the City of New York would green light a film crew to blow up a block of Manhattan rather than on a set.
Sometimes I wish we could turn back time! 🥲
5:12
The close up of those people contemplating their life choices when told "This is no longer acting, this is now a life or death situation."
The lady in red: Mmmmmm.
At around the 4:00 minute mark the theme from Speed starts playing during the talk of the train jumping off the track and them making it go faster a lot like what happened to the train in Speed
6:50 That was seriously intense some real danger was involved kudos to the stuntmen and stuntwomen.
John McTiernan kicks ass.
i always wanted to see that subway crash scene
such a great work, hands down!
I love this film!
Love the soundtrack from Commando.
Amazing film, with amazing stunts!

Your gurdian angel will protect you
1 of the best movies of all time
honestly you guys work hard...
One of the best movie 🎥, still watch it.
Always wondered how they did the store explosion 💥 beginning scene 🙄.

Altri tempi. Altro uso.
They will forgive you but you also realize when enough is enough
God bless practice effects!
7:24 dude must have been bummed he got cut out haha
Dig how the soundtrack from "Comando" is playing the entire clip
WHAT IF WAS CELLPHONE BACK THEN , IT WOULDN'T BE A MOVIE, THAT WAS THE REAL ERA , NOW EVERYBODY WATCHING THERE CELLPHONE 24/7
And some peoples mind that would be considered poetic Justice.
My favorite die hard movie
Die hard 1 2 3 best ever
When they did that big explosion the aftermath looked like 9/11... Rest in peace to those beautiful souls that lost their lives on 9/11...
Die Hard 3 is just the best in the franchise
Blowing up a department store and a movie is funny but in real life you get the electric chair for it.
Dont know if anybody else believes this or not but whenever I hear Jeramy's voice on the phone, he really sounded like KITT from Knight rider.........
Sucks they don’t do this stuff anymore
7:40 Bruce is always with his mouth open
In our mind it makes sence
07:41 I love that gunshot sound!
5:47 real fear :)
correction* they used to work hard. now we do it all sitting comfortably in our office working in 3d. sigh, the good ol days
mmmm nice to see colleen camp popping up in the interviews.
I wish someone would put up the featurette for the original die hard.

But in all reality it’s kinda funny as hell
Now it's from COMMANDO!
am i the only one who noticed the “Commando” music
very good
4:33 lol speed music :)
Now they're using music from Speed too.
So how about Die Hard 1 and 2?, where is there behind the scenes?
Jesus, that opening really does look like a terrorist attack, even though it's fake.
wow, to know how many lives were actually on the line for some of these scenes is fucked!
cool love
Until they had enough
Commando theme hehe
great films only liked 123
Is that music around 5:18 from Metal Gear?
Teuwo Nope. Its from movie called "Speed".
+Teuwo Yes! I think it is! Man I was thinking all the time "I know that music...!" Hahahha. Yes it is!
Teuwo the title of the score is rush hour of the speed soundtrack
It is not Vengance but Vengeance.

I don’t ask the legion

sorry but this was the best die-hard. uselessly 3rd sequels are never that good but this was
he needs to stop making these die hard movies
