We have had two major updates in the Netherlands for the bz4x, far better charging, far more efficient EV motor, real world range of 450km, tested by car journalists and many other issues sold. Given the very small battery pack compared to the competition, good! The Bz4x has now ev motor almost as efficient as the Tesla Y and more efficient than Audi q4 etron and VW Id4..... .
The bz4x was tested against the id4 and q4 etron by leading dutch car journalists...the bz4x was the better car and Ev...... .
Little bit silly all the bashing of Toyota on internet, it is nonsense, at least in Europe.

@@BobPellerinwhile my comment is for the solterra that I drove as a loaner car, my experience is very similar to yours. It was absolutely fantastic to drive in clear weather without the A/C on and the displayed range was 288 miles, however it dropped right away to 222 miles after I switched the a/c on briefly to test the range. I also drove it in December north eastern US when it was cold but not brutally so, and the range was 210 miles with the defroster on. Of course solterra is AWD so it will be similar to the BZ4X AWD if not the same, and I'm curious to see if Subaru releases the same updates. Will ask the dealer since it's a loaner car but very interested in knowing if the updates fix the range issues

There’s another TH-camr in Canada called the EV Dude who started with a Prime and then bought a BZ4X. He pretty quickly decided he’d made a mistake and sold his Toyota and bought an Ioniq 5. The 5 seems like a really excellent EV and the specs on the BZ4X lead me to believe Toyota isn’t really serious about EV’s yet. I own a Prime and I know my next car will also be an EV, but it’s unlikely to be a Toyota. The Model Y has more than 50 % more horsepower and range and better charging speed and a much better charging network. It makes the BZ4X seem pretty mediocre as an EV. But on a subjective level it doesn’t really appeal to me and I much prefer the looks of the Ioniq 5. It also has a volume knob which would be a good thing for Toyota to correct. 😊 Thanks for your review, I think as an actual owner your opinion is important.

Comparing the BZ4X to the IONIQ 5 is fair game but to a Tesla model Y? The equivalent Model Y to my AWD BZ is $19k more expensive (including incentives) so not really applicable.

Hy, if it has so many defects I don’t understand why you bought it? It would be interesting a test drive with a range test too. Regards. I am from Europe and I am very satisfied with my FWD BZ4X.

I bought it without trying it first like so many during the lockdowns. I like it overall. The distances here are too great to make it a perfect car. My cheap Honda Accord gets 1000km range to compare. I have been known to do 600km in a day, so it’s stressful at times. I don’t always have the luxury of time to recharge in between stops. At -30c it sucks (

@@BobPellerin I had a RAV4 FWD PHEV, great car for range tranquility mountain ride. But in gasoline with the associated price two high at least here in Europe. For local ride (30 kms /day) the 18 KW battery was good for 3 days then need to charge it often. With BZ4 I charge once a week without let down below 20%. So if I need make 300kms well I make a fast charge until 80% and that is it. Of course we here, don’t have extreme low temp witch can be an issue but sure not for BZ4 only but too all BEV. Only for end this, my BZ4 comes with battery software update. And even received one OTA update for multimedia system in my home. You will love it I am sure. All the best, see you next posts.

This car was the worst mistake my wife made. Dealership fed us the crap that it gets 250 miles on a charge. But that is only if you stay under 65mph and dont have the A/C or heat on and do not drive on the highway. Our model takes 3 hours to go from 42% to 75% It took me and my family 11 hours to get from Dallas to Beaumont which is usually a 4.5 to 5 hour drive. Ill never buy another EV thanks to this thing.

      Thanks for the feedback!!
It boils down to how you use the car/SUV. In our case it is our 3rd vehicle, so the other two we use for long distance and this one for local trips. It gets charged at home 90% of the time, so no stress for charging or distance. I made a LOT of videos about winter to warn others of the effects on range. I really should do one when it finally gets hot enough for AC here.

You are incorrect about not having a mute button. Push and hold the mode button and it will pause or mute the radio.
I had mine for a month now. Overall i really like the car. The update definitely helped with range and charge.
The only cons I have are the glove compartment and volum knob.
My other vehicle is a Jeep Rubicon and i prefer to drive the BZ over it.

Most cars (and most EVs will lose a lot of range in cold weather. My Tesla M3 allows me to preheat the car and battery before driving, and that really helps preserve cold weather range. Apparently Toyota has released a software upgrade that will improve range prediction, and increase the charging efficiency during long distance driving. IIRC, it will also release a bit more battery buffer to the driver.

In Europe we have had 2 major software updates. 450km real range as tested in the Netherlands, better recharging than the Id4 and etron. And many other, display, issues solved. The car journalists considered the new Bz4x with the updates even a good Bev because of the small battery pack, good range and 10 years warranty.... . He said, the Tesla Y is still the better EV but not the better build car, and far less warranty

You’re right on all points, especially the piano black surfaces. They scratch exceptionally easily. I’ve had my car for 4 months and the surfaces look 2 years old. Hoping the software upgrades fix the glaring issues this car has. Like you I enjoy my BZ but Toyota could be doing a much better job making sure owners are happy.

I have one and like it more everyday. It's fantastic to drive and I have learnt how EVs need to be managed different from petrol cars. And it's about one third the price to run!!
Agree charging networks need improvement but that's a universal problem, not bz4x specific.
Efficiency is as good as competitors, battery is a bit smaller and consequently range.
I never open my glove box in my other cars so I don't miss it!

    • @PenkoAngelov
      @PenkoAngelov ปีที่แล้ว

@BobPellerin "Quiet and comfy" is a given with any EV. Well... the Kona might be a little harsh at bumps but still comfortable.
The bad thing with Toyota is that they are relying on their past glory. Now they are offering the false promise of "reliability" but are instead selling lower quality and cheaply made vehicles with predefined life. They know when you're going to need service and how long their components will last. This "life" is getting shorter and shorter every year because their investors expect higher profits every quarter.
A company that sells vehicles with a loss or a 1.6% margin... does not make money by doing goodwill for its customers.
Furthermore, Toyota is spending billions lobbying against the EV transmission... just because they are stubbornly not ready for it.
