Mushroom | Hand Embroidery

Things you need:
Linen, hanky linen or cotton fabric
Heat removable pen
Embroidery floss in red and ivory
Embroidery needle
Method:
Sketch the mushroom on a piece of fabric using a heat removable pen. Using two strands of red embroidery floss and satin stitch, complete the cap of the mushroom. Place your stitches close to each other, keep the tension even. For the back side of the cap, use a backstitch.
Using two strands of ivory embroidery floss, fill the stem with short and long stitch. For the gills, use two strands of the same ivory floss and straight stitch.
Using one strand of ivory embroidery floss, add a few spots on top of the cap using colonial knot stitch. Happy stitching!
Tips:
I like to use small scraps of linen or hanky linen for this kind of embroidery work. Tiny embroideries like this are great for fabric stamps and labels.
