After watching your video, I just literately finished installing the regulator and the motor on my 2009 Honda Element. I'm moving to Thailand and my car is for sale and suddenly the window stopped working. I searched on TH-cam for how to replace it and found the video. This was a great, great explanation of how to do this. I had trouble removing one of the small corner panel driver side but other than that, it was pretty easy to replace the part. Thank you!
I traveled in many Southeast Asian countries and Thailand is the best on everything I needed. Transportation, food, healthcare, and safety are wonderful. You have the option to live on a low budget or have an expensive lifestyle.
Just finished thank you. My hubby took in the left window for repair when I heard it pop. They charged $164.20 for the part, labor was $191.63 and who comes up with these numbers not even round up, pennies count! Total was $364.53. Then the other window popped. So I found your video. I paid $65 for the regulator, probably could have found it cheaper, followed your video and got it done in half a day. Now I’ve got money for new speakers.
Thank you so much. My window fell down today while it was drizzling so I went to buy the part and used your video as a guide. Great instructions thank you for not leaving out any steps or information like some people do!
Thank you!!!! You saved me a little over a hundred bucks on replacement. Unfortunately I got too frantic and tried to get the repair done by a mechanic the day my window motor broke. The new motor arrived at the auto shop the next day but by then I watched this video and went ahead and did it myself. I paid for the motor through them as a third party plus they charged me 30 minutes labor for just confirming the window wouldn’t close! They didn’t even open up the door panel or anything!!! $200+ when I could have just watched this video and ordered a $60-70 motor myself. Lesson learned. It was so easy too. Thank you!!!
Thank you! This was a perfect example of an instructional video. you did not skip over any details. With your help I was able to get the job done without any experience. Thanks again! You are a great teacher!!!
I changed my R side regulator 2 1/2 years ago with the help of your video.Very easy. Only misplaced one part-the small black cover for the door handle. Thursday the R side went out. Found your video today(refresher course). Interesting that the part was within a couple dollars of the price 2 1/2 years ago from Amazon. I thank Amazon and I especially thank you.
Great detailed video! Have done 3 so far (2 different Honda Elements) I'm a 69 year old lady and even the car guru guys in the neighborhood say they've never attempted it. I get all parts from APDTY
Great video! At least 5 stars. I am pure amateur at car mechanics. Driver window was down when it stopped working on Saturday night and needed the 2003 Honda Element on Monday. Found this video online and decided to try replacement. Got the driver regulator and motor assembly at one of the local parts store. Followed video and it went fairly easy. Instructions and views were spot on.
This video is great. Thank you so much for doing this. I like that you keep the “umm not sure what’s wrong here” moments in there. Because all us amateurs run into that. I used this video for the drivers side 2 years ago and cracked on of the plastic covers on the back side of the window. Took me 4 hours. 2 years later, passenger side, no breaks snd less than an hour. Couldn’t have done it without your awesome directions!!!!!
Absolutely an excellent video. The instructions were very clear and well presented. I followed the video and no problems at all. I fixed my window and saved a lot of money doing it myself. Thank you for an excellent video.
Excellent instructional video. I am a total klutz and I was able to do this myself The Honda dealer wuoted me 155.00 for the part and 300.00 for the installation. I bought it on line for 55.00 with free shipping. Thanks!
Watched your video. Very helpful. Every thing was just like the video. My element was even the same color. As a note this was the first time I ever attempted to replace a window motor. Thank you.
WOW! Excellent presentation. My first attempt at such a project. I don't work on cars but I almost fainted when I found out what the dealer wanted to charge, so I jumped in. I did crack the door panel slightly at the transition between the panel edge that rests on the top of the door window opening and the front diagonal bar of the window frame. There is a slight curve in the panel. Just a warning to others. Be gentle when pulling the panel away from the door on the front side edge. Thanks.
For the "black stuff" try Home Depot "Butyl Rubber Sealant Tape" 1/4" x 3/16" X 40'. $5.00 a roll. Used for metal wall & roof systems. Dark gray. Worked fine for me.
Thank you! I was so nervous doing this! I decided to give it a try following your instructions and successfully completely it today. Works great and you saved me $100's I am certain. So again thank you so very much!
your video Thanks for the clear and detailed instructions for replacing the power window assembly. Your demonstration makes me feel that I can tackle this job myself and not have to spend the money to have a mechanic do this for me. Thanks for sharing this video.
Fantastic video! Great content and easy to follow. I have to admit, at first I was like "oh great, what's Indiana Jones going to teach me about cars...." Then only moments later the answer came, as I ate my words, everything needed to get it done and quickly. And btw, I REALLY appreciate that you wore a mic for this video, it made it SO easy to hear everything. Well done and thank you for getting me out of a jam.
Thank you all very much. I don't know how you guy's do it but I know everyone has to get the help they need and should let you all know that we appreciate your support and help. Have a great and blessed holiday.
This video is GREAT!! I made it all the way through the project but had a little trouble with the door panel & seating it properly at the end. DIYers...the soft stuff at the window track has to go on the inside of the metal frame to protect the window as it slides up or down. Metal on glass = no bueno. Pay special attention to moving the regulator to the right spot to attach window. We used T-Rex tape for lots of stuff.
spray the bottom of the door inside with used or new motor oil while you do this job. It hits the spot welds at the bottom where rust starts. It works like a charm
That window regulator power cord clip, does u hv all that yellow goo inside the clip. Mine had all that inside it. Is that normal, the goo stuff? U can remove the door power switch part off the door. 😉
if that tacky black stuff is worn out or not sticking any more , a few well placed pieces of duct tape will work good to put everything back nice and neat
Second time needing this. This time the passenger side window broke. $30 to get a new motor and did it myself. I can’t believe how much money I wasted last year trying to get a shop to basically just oder the part for me.
I really appreciate it. I was successful in replacing the motor & regulator but unfortunately the rod holding the door handle came disconnected & I haven't been able to find anything on researching it.
+Matt Sweeley That is hard to find and rare to actually have to replace. Little plastic clips exist to hold the rods in place, You may just need a new plastic clip as the rods usually last a long time.
Great vid. I bought an '03 Element from the original owner recently with a stack of repair receipts. Two receipts for the job you just did on the same door. Weird? I'll have to check out your vid of the radio replacement. Mine looks original but the display screen goes blank now and then, only control I have is volume, can't change channels, bands, etc... What would you suggest, factory or after market?? Thanks again... Cheers....
Great video! Very helpful and easy to follow. However, when I put it back together, the auto up and down don't work. What could be the cause of that? All the wires are hooked up correctly from what I can tell
You have to recalibrate the auto feature. With the car running hold the roll down button for about 5 seconds after its reached the bottom, then roll up the window and hold the button up for about 5 seconds after its at the top. Should work fine after that.
Ugh, I broke the triangular plastic trim piece closest to the door lock getting it off. Everything else went great. Thanks for the video. Anybody have an idea what that piece is called and where to reorder it?
If for some reason the passenger side window does not go up or down, before you start taking things apart, make sure that the passenger window lock-out which is located on the driver side switch cluster is not engaged.
Ive had the motor in and out 3 times to see if I can aline the regulator bolts no Nope. The 4 mounting bolts line up and go in just fine. Im puzzled and hope someone will read this with help. Thanks
You left out to check all of the switches as well to ensure everything is working properly it should always be done before you screw down anything just to be sure otherwise you'll be taking it all apart again
SO why didn't you put the harness clips on the new regulator back into the inner panel of the door? So now when you have a mystery noise in the door going tap tap tap you know where you went wrong. Otherwise well done.

Any update in Thailand?? How are things there ? Always wanted to visit

8years later and this video is still going strong that’s for the clear video.
Thank You!

Here we are yet again! Time to fix the good ol driver window.
Oh man who’s playing with the window all the time??? Must be in warm climate
Thank you so much. My window fell down today while it was drizzling so I went to buy the part and used your video as a guide. Great instructions thank you for not leaving out any steps or information like some people do!
Thanks so much. Great step by step mad it easy to fix my 2008 element window in under 1 hour for only the cost of the part and a little elbow grease.
Thank you!!!! You saved me a little over a hundred bucks on replacement. Unfortunately I got too frantic and tried to get the repair done by a mechanic the day my window motor broke. EXTREMELY HELPFUL! Great that Video shows specific detail with door panel removal, Bolt location, and even locks on electrical connections.

Your hat kicks ass. And so does the tutorial, you rock.
spray the bottom of the door inside with used or new motor oil while you do this job. It hits the spot welds at the bottom where rust starts. It works like a charm
Thanks for posting this video. It made short work of this project for me!
We appreciate you watching, thank you
That window regulator power cord clip, does u hv all that yellow goo inside the clip. Mine had all that inside it. Is that normal, the goo stuff?
U can remove the door power switch part off the door. 😉
We don't think that it is very normal, no.
Happy Labor Day, thank you for the video!
Fantastic video!!! Even this girl could change out the motor and regulator with no problem.I owe you a beer!Jen
Thank you for this great video!!
Thanks a lot bro! You just saved us tons of money.
if that tacky black stuff is worn out or not sticking any more , a few well placed pieces of duct tape will work good to put everything back nice and neat
Excellent video! I just had to do this for my car, and followed your video.
Thanks for the video! I was able to get mine done within an hour.
That's a complete tutorial ! Thanks !
Start with window in the up position and tape it really well in the up position to keep it out of the way as shown in other videos.
yes good tip and thanks for watching!!
Thank you so much for this video. It made the job easy.

10mm socket for the hex bolts.

Great video!
Got everything in until bolting the regulator back in and the holes do not line up. Any idea why that migt be???
Thanks for sharing... I appreciate your Help!!!
If the Walking Dead show is ever going to cast another Dr. Eugene Porter....... dude you got the part- just show up.
🤣

I just did this job an hour ago 1-13-24 ..may have been the easiest job I ever did on this car
Yea I’m waiting for my part to come in…… dealer wanted 500$ 😢
The problem with my Element is that the window does not fall down and gets stuck halfway. Anyone know what it could be?
Your video was a life saver! Thanks!
Thanks, very helpful.
What if my window is stuck up and the wire is all tangled at the top
You left out to check all of the switches as well to ensure everything is working properly it should always be done before you screw down anything just to be sure otherwise you'll be taking it all apart again

Great Job!
Nice video, though you missed the lower screw cover.
