The current generation of teenager sprinters coming up have a different attitude to earlier generations : Flo Jo's record won't last more than a decade.
(There are now multiple runners at the age of 15 who can run 11.3 or faster. They are definitely faster than prior generations with an intent to beat anything existing.)

I’m on the fence. Elaine is my girl and I do think she’s the best sprinter alive, overall. However, I highly suspect it is the shoes that got her from what I believe is her natural 10.6 abilities, to nearly breaking the WR. Prior to 2021, Elaine and Shelly were stuck at 10.7, but suddenly, they both get those Nike’s and are running insanely fast times much faster than ever, while tons of up and coming stars wore the same shoes and are breaking world records left and right! Moreover, we have Jacobs, Kerley, and Elaine who have all stopped wearing those shoes in 2021 to get new sponsors, and NONE of them have run ANYWHERE near as fast without those shoes, while Jacobs complained he wants his Nike’s back! So, there is no telling whether Elaine will be able to run those times without those Nike’s.
