To be honest the galaxy S4 is probably one of the best galaxy phones to root/ Plus you can also use it as a remote or control other electronics because of the IR blaster!
Samsung has different phone models that vary from region to region, also the lcd module that you used is for the I9505 (as seen in the video at 3:15 ) not the I9500 or the I9507 and that could be why you had issues with it. But nice restoration nonetheless !
I replaced a broken galaxy s4 I9500 screen with a I9505 screen and it shut off the same like his in the video, so I figured out that evertime I press a lil bit on the screen it shuts off, after thinking what could cause that I just putted something between the motherboard and the screen and it worked fine. I'm still using that galaxy s4 since october and it never shut off again
i had an Samsung S4 I9505 and my father had 19500 I9505 works better with 4g I9500 doesnt work better with 4g there was small diferences betwen 2 devices and Sreen Replacement costs much for I9505

This is still my all time favorite smartphone. Perfect size, super light weight, removable battery, great camera for its time, great screen for its time,and no ugly notch or punch hole in the screen.

You should try repairing an LG G Flex 2. It's a curve phone! Would be interesting to see it from the inside. They also had the infamous SD810, which overheated and actually caused mine to die.
Wow hats off on the repair, also great tip about finding out that there are different dock connectors for different S4's, that will definitely be a useful point if I repair a phone in the future, I used an S4 for a year until it finally broke and i threw it away, wish I had seen this video earlier.
Thanks for making this video. A few days ago my old S4 mini stopped working and I concluded that it was the display. This video will help me out a lot when repairing it.
The display connector has always been an issue even if it's the correct part, the cable is sometimes off a bit and doesn't line up with the connector. I've ran into this issue may times in my line of work, it just takes a bit of patience and it'll line up. Still a bother though!
Still have an s4 with straight talk and an extended 8190mAh battery. On the original screen and a new sub frame, looks brand new except for the screen bezel.
I have to tell you that the S3 is the smartphone that revolutionised the smartphone industry. It had so many features that other phone companies could only dream of at the time.
most of them probably from ebay because as an example teh s4 with a broken screen doesn worth much because of how expensive the screen still is . if you wanna do repair phones look for phone like iphone (iphone 6s or higher ) with a broken screen or old battarie because you can get good iphone screen for 30 to 40 € or $ bacause the screnns are LCD displays not like teh samsung lineup what does use OLED and those panels are pretty expansive so much that it doesn realy worth to repair as an example a samsung galaxy s5 because you can get this phone for the same price used . i by myself do repair phone did just repair iphones just because it isnt realy expensive tp get a broken iphone to a mind condition . here the list of iphones i did repair / changesd something : 2 iphone 6 screen swap plus batterie , 1 iphone 6s screen plus batterie , hausing swap on my iphone 6s plus , got a water damaged iphone 6 to be alive again ( but does have icloud lock but i am in contact with the owner )
When you charge an android phone (mostly old ones) while it's off, sometimes you can't turn it on. You have to disconnect it, turn it on, then plug it in again.
Can't wait for that G6 repair you already know who I am from Twitter all I can say is watch out for some assemblies as they don't include a heatpipe but Im not sure how easy that is to transfer over
I believe that with the 2 S4s that you have, the one running Android 5.0 and has the 4G symbol on the back (GT-I9500) is an unlocked model, while the other one (GT-I9507) is an Optus model that probably never got updated.
Oh this is beatiful! Im glad that my S4 is working as it should, but i do have some spare parts if it were to broke. I still use my S4 as a side phone with android 11 on it, so i love to see this.

I used to have a galaxy S4 back in the day, it was a good phone but now I have an s9 which I'm very happy with! Also Hugh keep up with these new android repair videos as they're more interesting than iPhone ones (getting a little repetitive).
7:20 If the device has a charger plugged in, it takes you to the charging screen if you power it on. Disconnect the power and it will boot normally. No dock issue there.
Hey man a little tip, on android 6 and up you just can't manually hard reset the phone because of the google factory reset protection but there is away to bypass it just look it up thanks man keep up the good work

Nah most of us realize that Androids are actually quite good, but most of us are stuck in the ecosystem or just prefer iOS. It's only the dumb airheads that are trying to flex that think this.
The housing is slightly different between the models, I think the newer model was the LTE version iirc. If you compare them you'll see that the moulding are slightly different on the new chassis so when you placed the board in the new housing, it basically shorted the board. Always buy parts that match your model number, don't ask me how I know haha

I tried that, still showed the same screen. It took me a good 15min to find out why it wasn't turning on.

I wouldn't call it a restoration, it's a swap or repair. You didn't restore the phones existing frame or screen
