I really like Italy’s new focus tree. The balance of power events (losing certain cores makes power shift) kinda sucks gameplay wise but make sense politically
My recommendation is to, before the British and the French can get involved, invade Yugo Greece and Turkey (and by proxy Romania and Czechoslovakia.) Once you've crushed them (which is now much easier) you oust Mussolini and do the Christian democracy focus (since when Emmanuel is democratic he doesn't get his compliance bonus ): ) then join the allies to fight Germany. That's a really fun way to play.

It's actually little OP if you release IEA while you're neutral you will still get Prince Amedeo but instead of fascist Iron Duke trait he will get better neutral trait that gives ticking Compliance bonuses (ticking one and some other as well), in this case you just give your neutral Prince Amedeo your territories that you need to garrison and he will skyrocket compliance in those territories. As for Victor Emmanuel, personally I think he will give you more bonuses if you just leave him as an idea, cuz if you go Democratic King - you lose this compliance idea from Victor and get some very bad leader with useless trait for some army command and little xp (which is useless late game, as an Italy you always have enough army XP), better choose Christian Democracy and get this - consumer goods and +10%pp
When a democratic path is well done, I think that it can be some of the most fun in hoi4, it's a shame they didn't add a democratic Russia in No Step Back, I think that democracy is heavily underrated in HOI4

It’s a submod for thousand week reich that gives content to some countries, though I’d recommend playing as US conquered Germany. They have a fun focus tree and after the occupation ends you get a even bigger focus tree. Just a suggestion though so no pressure
it feels like after this dlc, the AI just moves it's units way less than before (hence the performance improvement). but it's still ass, what's the point in fixing it this way
I play HOI4 for Czechoslovakia and I conquered Hungary, part of Italy, Austria, almost all Germany, Bulgaria and now I´m going to free Poland and France.... I love this game :)
Italy didn't do enough? They opened up an entire front and did most of the fighting and winning there. They sent more troops to help the germans than visa versa. They scared the royal navy more than the Japanese did, etc. And that's just what they did with poor leadership. Coming out of ww1 Italy had the most modern army in the world and was a lead power in naval and aireal development before during and after ww1. They kept this up until Ethiopia, when they started to lag behind in certain places due to poor choices by the central leadership done since mussolini took power but espeically ones done during and after Ethiopia. There is a reason both the British and germans feared the italians even after the major defeats people meme on them about today. Also since in Hoi4 *You* are the central leadership there is no reason you can't make better choices and thus have italy do what it should have been capable of. Forcefully handicapping Italy compared to the other major powers would be the ahistorical thing to do and would be no fun in what is ultimately a diverging branch alt-history sandbox.

My save Italy had the civil war and became communist but became French Italy with Victor emmanuel taking the throne again we then teaming up with France, Poland, Communist Norway ect to take Russia

You can also do limited self government I think it is which gives you even more compliance but resistance does slowly increase if I remember right
