    Honestly speaking, I find that cheap tools are not a good value. They usually end up costing more in time, effort, frustration, and replacement, than they provide work efficientcy. Sometimes though, I find a tool that is so unique, and potentially so practical, that I buy it in hopes that the unique function will benefit me even though it's a budget tool.
    Fiskar's EZ Reach 50 inch Stick Tree Pruner is such a tool. Granted, it's not the higest quality of pruner. It also has a few annoying aspects to it. Still, over all, it does what it should pretty well!
    To give you a better idea of the pros and cons, I put this review video together. I hope you enjoy it!

    I'm on my 3rd one, home depot replaced it 2 times no question asked. It is useful but I only use it for real small stuff now it is very weak at the plastic it broke there twice. I still use it all the time. Good video 👊

      Poplar Mechanic yeah, there are some definite cons. Still, the pros are what totally make it worth having.
      I find that keeping the looper blade sharpened helps keep the plastic bits from stressing so much.
      I wish a quality company would design something more durable though...

      Eric, thank you for sharing this video. I did some major structural pruning with my hand saw in my 30’ magnolia yesterday. While reaching from the ground, a step stool and especially while reaching that 45 degree limb walk rope angle, I imagined this exact tool. I am thrilled that Fiskars makes it, and it’s good to know pros like you reap the benefits. For improvements, it’s a tall order to compete with a company like Fiskars. So long as Home Depot replaces them for free, the situation will likely be more landfill = more profit = one more CEO Yaght. Perhaps somebody smaller can make a $40 aftermarket kit to re-Inforce the weak bits? Maybe just 2 or 3 angle positions is adequate? On the optimist side, the savings could be a significant motivation for a production worker: Investing in 5 redundant units, and spending extra trips to Home Depot could be expensive compared to a more durable and effective tool. An honest review like this is a great start. Hey Reg Coates, are you listening?

    I've had mine since 2014. I use it a few times a year to cut tall vines and bushes around the house. I used it a few hours ago to remove a thicket of vines draping down from a tree onto my neighbor's garage roof. I felt much more comfortable sitting on the roof and using the Fiskars pruner than standing on the sloping roof to use my ratcheting anvil lopper. I had to use the anvil lopper on some thicker branches. I've learned not to push the limits with the stick pruner. If the blade gets stuck in a tough branch, then sometimes it becomes almost impossible to either advance the blade or release it.
    I don't know how the tool would hold up under heavy daily use, but for occasional use it's worked great for me so far. I've also lent it to a few neighbors.
    One thing to watch out for - as with any bypass lopper, it's easy to jam the blade if you get two or more stems or vines in the jaws at one time, or if you try to cut with a bad angle such that the item can roll in the jaws and push the cutting blade sideways. Since the cutting head can be some distance away from your eyes, and possibly obscured by foliage, one should be careful to only cut stems that you can clearly see.

      All good points! Thanks for sharing.
      Just FYI, I use mine for large tree pruned a few times a week, and have had it for a year, more or less, and it’s going strong. I also sharpen the blade, and file off the burs in the anvil regularly to keep it in best possible conditions.

    Home Depot has an agreement with Fiskar's to replace, free of charge, any unit that breaks. The unit is fantastic. I use it to cut the frons on my palm trees. I can cut them at the trunk without cutting my arms.

    Perfect. Not a professional trimmer. Just have a few branches that interfere with my satellite dish and some hanging low on my driveway. This should do the trick nice and easy and lightweight. Sounds right up my alley.

    Home Depot web page is so secretive on how this works. Thank you for showing us.

    He talks more than showing us up close of the branch cutting. I want to see how it cuts one inch branch.

    Guess "tall" trees where he lives are 15' high. LOL. Tool looks good, but I need one that is 20'+, not 5'. Impossible to use this device and also hold onto ladder.

      There is a telescoping version off this tool available on Amazon

    • @Gregzilla83
      @Gregzilla83 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EricJemAndes Just bought it. Heard you say $30-40 bucks and got annoyed because the telescoping is $90-100. It does come with the saw blade though which I didn't see you mention so I assume that model didn't come with it.

      @Greg G. ;
      Just bought this one off Amazon as well for $111.00. As the smaller 5 ft. one in the video from HD was useless for my situation too. ...
      Since it's only for light duty use around my home mainly to keep a lemon tree pruned, I hope it'll last a long time despite its plastic parts. ...
