    That long bolt through the original hole on the front spring hanger, I put the old spacer out of the sammi springs in there so that I could really torque it down without collapsing the material. Or just go get some conduit the same size and cut it to length. In fact, when I made my YJ adapters, I didn't even put a plate between them at the back because of this. Just bolt on. Easy peazy. I built 4 rigs like this and never had a problem at all with it. Never even welded them in place, but it couldn't hurt. LOL

    Great video. I have a 87 samurai. I was told that a 90s toyota forerunner rear driveshaft fits a samurai. If so what do I have to do to make it fit. Thanks Dave

      Just redrill the flange on the toyota shaft to the same pattern as the Sammi. I've built several of these and am doing another right now.

      @garrykennedy5484 what about the length? Thanks

      @@daverepole9283 I used sammi drive shafts with toyota axles, but put in a 1 inch drive line spacer. The best way though is to have a drive shaft place lengthen it for you. It all depends on your final axle placement. If you only end up with an inch or so of drive shaft spline mating up, it will ruin your splines in short time. You need at least 3 inches of spline connection including extended length. To determine that, you must take a measurement at full flex, and full stuffed positions I've never done the yota drive shafts unless I went with the dual cardon joint. The ones I used I coundn't tell you what they came out of, but I took my measurements to AZ Driveline and had them make it. It cost less than I thought it would, and having peace of mind for the travel distance was great when on the trails in 110 deg. weather. On the Sammis, all I did was the 1 inch spacer, but you get more angle if you lengthen the drive shaft because that 1 inch difference in length has an affect on the drive line angle as well. When I did the yota drive shaft with dual cardon joint, it was when I put yota axles under a 4 door Sidekick. It had the room. That dual cardon takes up some room also. About 3 inches of length. even than I had to grind off a little of the joints ears where the ujoints go in to clear what I needed. Fabrication can be daunting, but if you follow the path others have taken, it takes a lot of the guess work out. You can limit travel with bump stops and limiting straps, but then you lose some travel in your suspension.

      @@daverepole9283 Also,, Don't let your shocks be what stops your travel. It kills them quickly. The shocks should have more travel than the limits of your suspension.

    I am trying to figure out what springs to buy for Toyota Axles and SPOA YJ Conversion. Which are the correct EMU springs? I want the least lift possible with SPOA config. Can you recommend an EMU Spring? Or should I just get a set of 4 stock rear YJ Springs?

    Are these standard YJ springs, or are they YJ lift springs?

    • @garrykennedy5484
      @garrykennedy5484 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Standard is fine. I've built a few of these. If you go higher, you get more problems. Drive line angle, higher center of gravity. Tippy,,,,er. Go with 2.5 inch backspaced rims. Measured from back of rim to mounting surface.
