"It's funny how success seemed to validate things"- David Draiman
So true
Lol, so true. He was from a very traditional, religious family, still under the impression that he was on a path of "Sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll" When in reality he's a very well spoken and decent family man that happens to have a passion for music.
The hardest thing he says in a 2 parts - 20 minutes - deep personal interview... Goosebumps...
@@alvarogarcia2869 For sure, it's always tough knowing your parents or grandparents disapprove of what you're doing but it's also nice to know that he did eventually reconcile with his grandfather.
@@carlosmatos9848 True.. That's a happy ending story thankfully... Greetings from Spain, friend!!
@@PaganMin671 Too late! And it don't matter anymore.
He doesn't just respond the questions, he gives the full answer and a little of backstory to validate or negate the claims in the question.
This is a man that's actually interested in answering the questions and having a conversation.
Khotta Bogard facts. Love or hate Disturbed, David’s a genuine guy
@@The_JustJoshing Yup, he definitely sounds like a humble guy.
Hes also more than intelligent enough to provide some substance and insight into the questions
@@The_JustJoshing Honestly makes me a bit more of a fan of the band to be honest. Everytime I want to hate on them for putting out some cover tune I'm like "but they have great taste..." Maybe I'm just old but I can appreciate a meh band more if I appreciate who the people making the music are.
The thing that I love the most about this man is not only is he an amazing singer, musician, and artist, but he's clearly a very well-spoken, educated man. He speaks fairly eloquently. That's something I really like.
I agree. speaks intelligently.
A lot of metal musicians are very intelligent
Axle Rose comes to mind with the stereotype.
couldnt agree more. hes very educated, very smart, very articulated, strong, clever, soft, and vocally dominant. he is, David Draiman.
exactly.
If David Draiman made an audiobook, I would never stop listening to it.
Yes! His speaking voice is so soothing.
me too
It would make everyone's ear pussy cum
@@MrJtin69 😳🤨🤔🤦♀️
Yes!
"who the fuck writes this shit"-david draiman 2015 😂
One of the best vocalist ever. His rendition of The Sound of Silence will make your hair stand on end.
No it wont
@@franklinriley7074 then something is wrong with you. It is a glorious song
Have you ever heard of RUSH? Geddy can sing. Their version of The Sound of Silence is almost as bad as Metallica's cover of Turn the Page. Both Suck big time. I hate when they come on the radio at work and I'm forced to listen to them.
@@waywardgoddess1153 so because a song won't make my "hair stand on end" there's something wrong with me? Lol sure
@@franklinriley7074 that's not what I meant and you know it. You're just really negative
That man is seriously one of the nicest musicians I've ever met, such a great guy.
MikeAndersonSounds they're called pussy hooks my friend
some people wear their darkness, others act it. he doesnt act it.
Corey Taylor from Slipknot is also a really nice person, despite the music he makes
Till you ask him about the treatment of the Palestinians.
@@GaryBeilby And what happens then? :p
"Here lies David Draiman. Wa ah ah ah."
The complete deadpan way he says that is frigging hilarious
He was supposed to play here in Tucson the weekend his son was born. He cancelled the show to be with his family. I asked ALOT of people if they were mad he didn't show and not a single person said yes. I've seen Disturbed 2 times and they never disappoint. Hes had a great career and just a good human being. A gem in the metal community.
I am 67 and just discovered David Draiman! I love his voice... speaking and singing! What an amazing man!
"She pushed for a good 3 hours and homeboy was still not coming out." xD love it. I laugh every time I hear that.
That's what you got out of this?? Don't influence any kids, even if they are your own.
He says it so calmly and sincerely lol
lol i read this comment the same time David was saying it XD
Homeboy is racist to say
@@SicFromTheKush how the fuck is homeboy racist to say, lmao
I loved when he said, "That's what's gonna be on my tombstone. 'Here lies: David Draiman, Oh, ah ah ah ah.' "
Also, I thought 23 hours of labor was normal. My mom was in labor for 2 days! She said that when I was *finally* born, I didn't cry. I just looked around with an expression that said, "So THIS is the outside world I've heard so much about!"
Abide And Avaunt I would have been saying send me back this world is crap lol
It depends what stage of labour. It's not uncommon for women - especially in first pregnancies - to chug along for hours in the early part before they get into so-called "active" labour rather than "latent" labour - which is usually around 3-4cm dilated (out of 10). In some cases yes, those early stages can go on for a couple of days but if her waters had broken, and she was in active labour for nearly 24 hours, that's a whole different thing. (There's no real scientific consensus that weather changes cause spontaneous labour, despite what David says - many L&D staff believe it, but then, many medical staff also believe in the full moon making people crazy too, and that's been definitively debunked.)
My mom was in labour for a week
@@adventureark630 My son's girlfriend was in labor with my Granddaughter for about 4-days before they had to do a C-Section.
So, yea.
The person heading the funeral leads as he would with any funeral and then just belts out the WAH AH AH! XD
I love how he refers to his unborn son as "homeboy"
Why this man is so handsome? He radiates an aura with unnexplainable charisma.
It’s called sex appeal!
David is next level inspirational. He's been through so much turmoil, hit rock bottom and is now this amazing human being. His past is behind him, but he never forgets and has turned his life around for the better. So much respect, David.
David Draiman is a guy I could have hour long conversations with due to his intellect and knowledge about so many things.
Yeah, his choice of words never stops to amaze me. He's thoughtful and humble.
“Funny how success seems to validate things...”
“Everything happens for a reason.”
I really really like this man...
David: "The valve, or the sphincter at the top of the esophagus..."
Guy: *Lips move* "Sphincter..."
David: "I know, what a lovely word, right?"
Lmao!!
I would love to read a book written by him about his life. He's such an intelligent, down to earth man, and has definitely been through a lot to get where he is.
I keep watching his chin rings lol
I was gonna say the same thing. They're kinda hypnotic XD
"They're called pussy hooks, brother"
I'd like to see him jingle them in front of a kitten.
does somebody of you guys know how he shaves his chin?
Joël Van Der Horst he uses a razor
I was surprised to find out he's only 5'7". He has that rich, deep voice of someone that is 6'7"!
And he's one cool af guy.
Have a signed ticket stub from him on the Sickness tour when they opened for Slipknot. Linkin Park, Papa Roach and Disturbed opening for Slipknot. What a show.
Holy shit that is the dream show.
Linkin Park opening for Slipknot??? That should have been the other way round.
@@elena79rus it was 20 years ago lol
God the dream concert the only thing that would have made it better is if staind and godsmack was on the bill but still very cool
A really nice and down to earth guy who just happens to have one of the best voices I’ve ever heard.
Fell down a rabbit hole watching vocal coaches react to this guy, very glad I ended up here. Been listening since high school (early 2000s) still wear my tour shirt from when I saw them in detroit. David is just awesome, love getting this relaxed honest interview
Dude is super smart. This interview was highly engaging.
Dont know why everyone hates on him so much. He seems like such a down to earth guy
I've seen other interviews with him and he's clearly a very intelligent and eloquent person.
More like a Down With the Sickness kind of guy. Right. Right. I need friends
+Lee Wollenschlaeger It's called "Jealousy"!
he seems very educated
Moonking #7,,They released "Immortalized" last year I think.
I personally love the album, but it's not as aggressive as past albums.
David is not only the most unbelievably awesome Lead Singer of the Heavy Metal Band who call themselves:“DISTURBED”, but he’s also smart as hell, eloquent, well spoken, and descends from Orthodox Jews, and I would most definitely say he’s one of the most sexy and charismatic men I have ever seen!
I would ask his fans to Share his wonderful music 🎼🎶🎼 with others to shower them with its pure magic! Thank You David! fir sharing your beautiful voice with the world 🌎 to enjoy 😊 forever and ever. Amen 🙏
Stay Strong 😎 people!
"I'm my own animal, thank you very much." 😂
I'm having a nerdy moment! This man is showing such intelligence with his way of talking and his medical terms!
little did they know, when he said " oh wa ah ah ah", that would be the noise most disturbed fans recognize the most.
I was in labor with my son 73 hrs of hard labor. We never had a second child. 34 years ago, OBGYN in Worcester Mass sucked. I never had another child. My son and I almost died. I was screaming for a c-section after 36 hours, but the docs refused. after 73 hours, I remember the doc saying "Well it looks like you're going to get your c-section" like it was my fault. I really have to look up that woman and give her a piece of my mind.
Here's hoping you 'accidentally' decked the bitch. Doctors who don't care about their patients well being should have their medical licences publicly revoked.
That sounds awful
2:22 THAT SNORT. SO DAMN CUTE.
He's such a humbled and down to earth person, I love watching his interviews.
Please God do one with Serj Tankian
I'm interested!
Absolutely! Or anyone from System of a down
yes!

95Coolmax Thx homie
I'm not sure why, but hearing that David Draiman has a kid made me really happy.
Fun fact, his wife is a former WWE wrestler.
He is such a down to earth and laid-back kind of person
I think every single musician in the "Wikipedia: Fan or Fiction?" series was.
*cough cough* Phil Anselmo *cough cough*
Electronic AIDS Phil was badass and nice at the same time
David Draimen is a class act. The guy has been through so much in his life. Yet so intellegent and blessed with an incredible talent. My opinion, but the best metal vocalist. I grew up in the same area as him in Illinois.
“And homeboy was still not coming out”
I know it wasn’t meant to be funny, but it made me chuckle because of the way he said it.
I love the videos with David Draiman. He seems very smart and well spoken and you two seem to get along better than most of the other people.
3:21 David killed me. God that was hilarious
Cause of death "down with the sickness"

its safe to say this man has experience Pain Redefined.
As treatment we recommend the sound of silence.
doctor:"cough for me"
patient:"oh wah ah ah ah"
doctor:" looks like you're down with the sickness "
David is the nicest and most talented man in music today. He is a pleasure to listen to both singing and speaking. He is a truly good soul.
Man knowing what he has to deal with his vocal cords and how did that Sound Of Silence cover makes that so much more meaningful, like the mental and emotional part of it was enough but knowing how much he probably had to pour into that physically, that's incredible.
“Success seems to validate things”
Powerful.
Just makes me like him even more !! He’s just a normal guy like the rest of us but has an incredible voice !!
This man is so well grounded, down to Earth & humble! You go David! ;D
I will always be a fan of David, and his band
I usually love and listen to disturbed but never to an interview. Glad I found this and I love them even more now.
David is cool. His wife's really nice too. I've been remodeling their house last few months and I love that guy and his family
I love to hear that about them. ❤
Here lies David Draiman....oh wah ah ah ah
I died laughing
So who wrote the comment?
Hey You haha
RIP
Just listening to these just shows how they got to where they are now & what they went thru in their lives.
can total relate about the tummy acid. Lost my voice for over a yr because of tummy acid.. managed to get it back and all under control and now have started to lose it again... I speak in a whisper.. really bad time for it because all think you are sick and contagious, but you're not. Vocal chords are burnt.. really bad side is the acid burns into the side of your throat and can put holes in your esophagus and that is deadly. So yeah back to testing and figure out what to do this time... happy he has his under control!!!!
"It's funny how success seems to validate things..."
WOW.
planetrob555 a comment that hit very close to home for me. Just founded a startup and have practically zero support from family and friends. Not even my wife. It’s something I will never forget when this becomes a rousing success (I don’t say that in a good way...)
Draiman: whispers oh ah ah ah ah
still gets goosebumps.
Guys how hard can it be to balance the microphone sound with the music of the intro/outro. I swear I need to turn the volume up to 80 to understand what they are saying and at the end the music jumps out of nowhere and scares the crap out of me.
SigmaTV maybe you shouldn't have those headphones or whatever the hell they are called while listening to TH-cam as some do this intentionally
Hellraiser988 yeah how dare he wear headphones while watching TH-cam what a dick
I agree. It's poor audio editing.
Seconded, please fix the audio editing.
ive noticed that this is common, especially with movies, atleast when watching them at home. the voices are super quiet but every other sound is like a gunshot in comparison. its infuriating.
The Chicago Zoo part gets me every time
Right? 'I'm my own animal, thank you very much' XD
I've seen them live. They had the whole crowd mesmerized!!
He just became one of my favorite musicians thanks to this interview what a king
I was thinking the same 😊
I would like to see Ben from Breaking Benjamin. I think it would be interesting.
Me too man I love that band
A humble man and a hell of a singer with a fantastic band that give pleasure to millions of fans
I knew there was a reason I liked this band, regardless of past "mistakes" quotations wherever you wish yo place them he still stands on a basis of morality that you don't see as upfront as you used to......
Thank you David, I love this band
It's amazing how someone can seem so dark, but is actually a brilliant light. You are a person just like the rest of us and don't take fame to a non human level. You are true and unique and that is nothing but awesome. I appreciate that your genuine. Glad for all your accomplishments in your musical life and regular life. Wish you and your family the best.
James hetfields tombstone will say YEAH and kirks will say wah
True
James's will say " I AM THE TABLE"
Lars wil say *snare bash*
Rob's" "WOOOOOOOH"
Jason's won't say anything.
So one time, my ex/best friend got to meet David VERY briefly. It was either right before or just after a concert and she had written a poem that she wanted him to read. She managed to run into him as he was heading back to the tour bus and told him basically, "Hi! I love your music and I really respect you as an artist. I just wanted you to read this." After that, she saw him walk back to his bus, lean against the wall, read it for a couple minutes and then folded it up and then slid it into his pocket. So cool. XD
I wonder what she wrote 🤔
Love his voice, he is a spectacular singer!
When he was talking about the Prayer video I got so mad. Censorship has gotten out of control, seriously. Kids don't need that kind of so called "protection", not with drug dealers in middle schools and kids being able to watch porn on school computers. I mean come on, that video is beautiful. I tried keeping my kids innocent and its just not possible with out locking them away in a hole in the ground. And the things they think need censoring are just ridiculous, but then again I could go on for ever about what's wrong with the world. Great interview, great band, great man, keep this series alive.
who the fuck even cares about 9/11 in 2017, the souls of the dead ones are already resting.
ZomBie Doll censorship in of itself is retarded I consider it like this censorship=limitation
@Jason McDonald You can't honestly blame over-sensitivity on liberals, in this very interview David was talking about how his very traditional family did not support his career because they were sensitive to the rock and roll shit and how his traditional high school wouldn't let people look at a newspaper because it might have an underwear advertisement. The word "conservative" itself basically means "rejection of newer attitudes" including the resistance of changes toward freedom of communication and lifestyle.
That being said, the liberals you are talking about also have their own brand of sensitivities which they also need to get over. Both sides are fucking stupid and need to grow up. The only sane people are the moderates and the people who lean gently to one side or the other without feeling the need to say every problem in the world is due to the crusty old conservatives or the snowflake liberals.
And you statement about "you never heard about TV stations doing this before" is just flat out ignorant. Remember when TV stations would only film Elvis from the waist up because his hip thrusting was too offensive? It's old fucking news, things sway this way, things sway that way, but everything really stays the same.
Religion MUST be annihilated and no cost is too high
@@cralo2569 millions of people care about 9/11 and its 2020
He seems such a genuine, intelligent and nice man. I appreciate him a lot.
What a chill dude
I'm 60, have a son 5 years younger and we both love this man's music.
I meant my son was five years younger than David. Geez...
A great interview of an iconic badass.
Wow, I've watched part one and mostly through part two. You listen to the sound of silence, hold on to memories, reason to fight, etc. and think these songs are amazing and inspirational. They are. But to have the privilege to hear these two documentaries and an insight into the person telling it like it is/was is pure gold. David Draiman you are my hero ♥️
I will never forget the first time I heard his version of the Sounds of Silence (on the car radio), I told my son to turn it up immediately!!! All these years later, the song still gives me goosebumps! I bought the album for a 5000km road trip and the lyrics being apocalyptic grabbed me so now for many years I've been learning about this amazing man, who uses his platform to warn the world of the evil within it, that is only getting worse. Yahweh has blessed you David, you great man!
One of the great guys. Thanks for spending time with your fans David!
This man is amazing, beyond educated, an eloquent speaker, an administrator of a SNF, can sing like nobodies business, count me as blown away. Love Disturbed!
I am very glad that I came across this 2parts video.Thank you for sharing, and thank you for taking part in it so honest and positive !
"I'm my own animal" words to live by.
I love it
Saw them live in Myrtle Beach a few days ago. Man, Disturbed puts on one hell of a show.
They sound just as good/even better live then on album, mostly due to the fact that this man is a truly gifted singer who needs no post production to sound AMAZING
i totally enjoyed ths interview it gave insights on the band's vocalist. eloquent too: "I'm my own animal..." heheh
Love this man .. Talent and honest humility.
weirdly enough david's very calm voice is quite satisfying to listen to
He seems like a SUPER chill dude
From an Orthodox mishpuka, one's a Cantor, and you've been disowned for performing secular music. This is essentially the story in the Neil Diamond version of "The Jazz Singer"; you're officially "Neil Draiman".
"i'm my own animal, thank you very much."
mood.
I think everybody talking about his voice and how well he speaks for himself helps cast aside the notion that metal performers are immoral or bad people.
It's just a music genre. The people in the metal community are actually fantastic people. Sometimes the biggest freaks are the realest people.
usualy the people with the beards and the ful sleve tatoos are the nices people you wil ever meet
great band , i saw them at rock im park 2008, had such fun!
I know nothing of his music other than Sounds of Silence. I first heard this rendition on season 5 episode 8 of Blacklist. I’ve been in love with that version since. Erie, dark, heavy handed, beautiful.
Love how he snorted when laughing at the zoo reference for Down with the Sickness
Gotta give this bloke a lot of respect, straight laced and seems genuine as hell. 👍
I don't know why but He would make a great doctor. Dr. Draiman.... Awesome :). And i really love how he tells the truth about everything
I was just thinking the same thing. Why is this man not in the movies?!
Love this guy. His voice is amazing and he seems like just a great human being. Love Disturbed and their music but David is a genuine guy xx
there should be a fact or fiction with Ivan Moody from five finger death punch
+Stephen Stout yeah that would be good. "It says here you beat your wife and your sister got a restraining order against you. Care to elaborate on that?"
Damn straight
+JD1710a He was never married. That's been proven. And it has not been confirmed or denied about the restraining order.

I love the honesty.
You have told things, that IF we met, would be a new band configuration... Plus a few albums.
Dave, two thumbs up! And all your jobs..very, very, very well done!!!!!!!!
Dave, Take from Oklahoma,
Mike and Vee
The guy sings with acid spewing up his throat... not sure you need any more evidence at how badass this guy truly is.
Its extremely painful but hes got it under control so its not hitting his throat anymore. Thats good at least its so uncomfortable and painful and overall just not suitable for everyday living. Glad he got started on a strict strict diet and sleeping pattern and so on because he probably wouldnt be singing if he continued to abuse his body.
the greeting just reminded me of inside the fires intro and here i am feeling that tension from his voice Jesus David your an amazing man
She’s had been pushing for 3 hours and homeboy was still not coming out. Best thing anyone in the music business has ever said
A breath of fresh air. A wonderful voice.
These videos were more like an interview. What a great guy, I enjoyed listening to his stories. He's been through some shit. Inspirational.
David Draiman is as intelligent, knowledgeable and well-spoken as he is talented.
Kudos to the interviewer as well. Very nice, pleasant and not trying to steal or interfere with the focus of the interview.
